if charlie dalton discovered poetry earlier i am convinced he would have been one of the best beatniks around. he would have read kerouac’s on the road and taken off to new york as a hitchhiker, just to disappoint his parents

the fact that Robert Sean Leonard could have been the best big screen actor of his generation and he knew it but instead he choose to stick to theatre is so astonishing to me, like what a king, he really was that poweful and he knew it
after neil,
Todd was distraught and rightfully so, he had just lost the first person in the world who ever truly understood him. Todd became restless, never being able to sit still, never being able to settle and it was because of Neil. Neil made him feel welcome and at home. So how did Todd deal with it? He travelled, he went to all the places Neil ever talked about. New York, Rome, Berlin and finally Edinburgh. Todd finally settled in Edinburgh, he struggled to understand the locals at first but soon he was spending Burns night reading poetry and drinking beer with his new found friends. He got to wander the streets that Neil once described as peculiarly captivating, they wound round and round in circles, lined with book stores and art shops, shops that had little nicknacks that Neil would have gone crazy over. Slowly but surely each of the Dead Poets came over to visit, staying with Todd in his studio apartment filled to the brim with books and plants. On these visits Todd would take the Dead Poets to Arthur’s Seat, and they would marvel at the view of Edinburgh. Sitting and talking about their lives for hours on end reminiscing about Welton made Todd feel even more at home. As much as he missed the Dead Poets, he felt connected to Neil in Edinburgh; he wasn’t sure whether it was the endless roads of quaint cafe’s and businesses or the friendly locals, but Todd had finally found Neil again.

“and like all lovers and sad people, i am a poet.”
Keating: Tell me, exactly how long is it that you've been going to Welton?
Todd: Three months, seven days, and I suppose...three hours?
Keating: And how long have you been in love with Neil?
Todd: Umm...Three months, seven days and, I suppose two hours and thirty minutes.
Keating: I thought as much.
Todd: Do you think everybody knows?
Keating: Yes.
Todd: Do you think Neil knows?
Keating: Yes.
Todd: Oh, that is bad news.
Keating: Well, I just thought maybe the time had come to do something about it.
Todd: Like what?
Keating: Invite him out and then, after about twenty minutes, casually drop into the conversation that you'd like to marry him and have lots of sex and babies.
Todd: You know that?
Keating: Yes. And so does Neil. Think about it, for all our sakes.
Todd: Certainly. Excellent. Will do. Thanks, sir.
[Character 4/8]
Neil Perry
Neil Perry was a true Romantic, his words and acting reflected his deepest feelings, towards life, towards society, towards his parents, towards Todd. All he ever wanted to do was live in the moment, seize the day, Carpe Diem. His presence onstage could move a thousand people, he could silence an entire room with one movement, line or look.
Neil had a stage presence that any actor would want to acquire. He used it in everything, whether it was cooking, reading, talking, or walking, he was an actor. That’s why Neil fell in love with Todd, they both had so much “wrong” with them, that they were both so right for eachother. Todd saw through Neil’s acting antics and Neil touched Todds heart like no one had ever done before.
Neil was truely a magician of life
