I’m actually so frustrated about the existence of Gaoh Mukaku’s entire character for petty reasons.

Mainly that I was in the middle of writing a story where one of the main characters were a lot like Gaoh. A scum bag mentor to his granchild who I always imagine looking like Monkey D Garp.

Now if I ever get this thing published (a pipe dream, for sure) I’m gonna have a bunch of people thinking I’m ripping off Kengan.

The Rolon Donaire fight ended kind of generically. I get that he’s supposed to be a full rounded fighter who employs simple fighting styles and but also has unique twists to keep his opponents on his toes, but that’s not really expressed well in the fight. Call me a baby with no reading comprehension (panel reading comprehension?) but I wish the manga was less subtle about his supposed genius.

So far Jurota vs Masaki Hayami was the only fight where I really understood that Purgatory was really all that formidable (Monkhbat, Lu Tian, and Fei Wangfang don’t count since they’re “worms”)

Gintoki would give a quick, simple, and yet devastating speech to Hanma Yujiro that would instantly deflate everything Grappler Baki stands for, causing Yujiro to look like this

And then start wailing on Gintoki with machine gun punches that shake the continent

The panels would be crazy, with those cool Baki light rays that happen whenever Yujiro and Baki wail on each other, with the entire street practically disintegrating as the two fly across the street.

But then there would be a panel where Gintoki shocked his two fingers up Yujiro’s nose, which is something that happens in both Baki AND Gintama, so that’s great!

Then he suplexes Yujiro

But then Yujiro does that super flexible kick thing he does right against Gin’s head, with a blood splatter!

And we get one big and gory panel that reveals that instead of Gin’s head exploding Gintoki bit the meat right off of one of Yujiro’s toes, right halfway down the foot. And then he slams Yuji Wife-killer right into the ground, twelve inches deep into the solid concrete.

Anyone else find it tragic that Yamashita Kazuo became more attatched and familiar with Ohma in the, maybe, three months or so they worked together than his own adult children?

Like, when I first read (well, “looked at the raws” more like since I can’t read Japanese) I thought he was calling his son to run since Ohma might die, but it turns out to be the other way around. Tragic, really.

Kengan Omega is great so far!

It’s like if one of those throwaway characters who try and mug the protagonist and get beat up actually made it his life’s goal to become stronger than them.

Hey, remember when some translators called it “Kengan Ashua”? That was fun

Life is really funny, huh?

One day you hear a tale about one of your friends creating a fanblog about a then-obscure manga that later gets huge and suddenly gaining over ten thousand subscribers (I believe it was Akage Ma Kill or something like that) and you think you wanna try that too.

You decide to go with a fighting manga you really like and know will become big one day, but for now only has six chapters translated.

You really like it, and you have fun running the blog.

But then you suddenly lose interest. And the manga gets more and more and more popular. And you still can’t bring yourself to care. And you know you’re squandering something big.

And next thing you know the manga’s sequel is on its 78th chapter, the netflix show is a pretty big hit, and you STILL HAVEN’T UPDATED YOUR BLOG.

Shaking my damn head at myself, fellas.
