A/n: Finally got this done after like 2 months of this being in my drafts
Warning: Slightly OOC Venti (Whose section is also like double everyone else's ToT)
Aether had heard of the infamous apothecary early on in his journey from the people of Mondstadt. A woman known far and wide for her extensive knowledge of medicinal herbs, poisons, and a near-perfect recollection of all plants in Teyvat.
Stories about her were common within the headquarters of the Knights of Favonius every time Aether visited, some knights saying she was the most insane woman they've ever met, others saying she was sweeter than sweet can be.
But just hearing about her wasn't enough to get a full picture; it wasn't until after the Dvalin threat was quelled that Aether met her face-to-face.
He first saw her talking to Jean, a smile evident on her features. A truly radiant smile, with a flush coming to the traveler's cheeks as he stared. Surely someone whose smile is that luminous couldn't be so strange, right?
Jean noticed him rather quickly, motioning for the Honorary Knight to join her and the wandering apothecary, whose name he learned was Y/n, in their conversation.
Aether was a bit nervous, unsure of how this particular meeting would go. Some said that Y/n was hard to get along with, or so he heard. Rumors of her butting heads with some of the knights weren't hard to come across.
Though as he stood between Y/n and Jean, he couldn't help but stare at her; she wasn't anything like the way the knights described her; she was actually pretty kind, a bit forthright, but still a rather patient person.
And when her eyes met his, a cute grin on her lips, he felt his heart skip a beat. Aether didn't even hear what she had asked him, soon apologizing and requesting her to repeat herself.
"You got hurt in that fight with Dvalin, right? I can patch you up if you'd like. Barbara's a bit busy at the moment, so I thought I could be of use."
His expression went blank at her statement, mouth open like a gaping fish. After a few moments, he clacked his jaw shut and nodded, albeit a little too enthusiastically.
Y/n guided him to the infirmary at the knight's headquarters, then, once settled, pulled out some bandages to wrap his lower arm where Dvalin had struck him.
"You're really strong, aren't you?"
He was caught off guard by her statement, only able to stare back in response.
"It takes a lot of strength to go against a foe like Dvalin. I'm glad things were resolved peacefully, though."
Then she looked at him with a small grin and a look of relief in her eyes.
"Mondstadt is one of my favorite places in Teyvat... so... Thank you, Mister Honorary Knight. For helping the Knights of Favonius out, I mean."
God, he was going to explode if she kept looking at him like that.
Diluc's first meeting with the apothecary was... odd, to say the least.
A knock on his manor's door would usually be answered by one of the many maids or butlers running the household, but for some reason, Diluc felt compelled to answer it himself.
On the other side of the door stood a woman, her expression hard to read, almost neutral except for the bit of excitement hiding behind her eyes.
"Sorry to disturb you, Mister, but you have some poisonous plant roots on your grape vines."
Diluc stared back at her, brows lifting ever so slightly at her straightforwardness, "And... you're telling me this because...?"
A smile quickly spread across her face, "I'd like to take them, if you don't mind."
His lips pursed together before speaking, "If you're offering an extraction service, I'm not interested in buying-"
Her eyes widened, "Huh? Oh, no, nothing like that. I'd just like to take the roots. I'm not looking for payment. The roots themselves would be more than enough."
Diluc narrowed his eyes, glancing over at the vineyard to see what she was talking about, noticing a purplish root stemming from the ground and wrapping around the trellis.
"You... just want the root?"
The woman emphatically nodded, a sparkle appearing in her eyes, "Mmhm! They're uh— good for certain medicines."
Her gaze met his, a certain intensity to her expression, "I can take them and be out of your hair in, like, three minutes tops! I promise not to touch the grapes!"
Diluc looked at her, skepticism evident in his stare, "I suppose there's no harm in it; you don't mind if I supervise, do you?"
The woman shook her head rapidly, then turned around to squeal and jump up and down on the tips of her toes in excitement, mumbling under her breath, "Yeeeeessss~ I finally get a rare poisonous root from Mondstadt...! This is awesome~."
Diluc couldn't help but let out a small, if not totally silent, laugh, slightly amused by her sudden burst of joy.
She practically raced over to the trellis with the dangerous root, picking and prodding at it with determined focus. Diluc noticed the way her hands were steady, unyielding in their pursuit.
And as she carefully extracted it, Diluc couldn't help but stare with fascination. Her eyes were glinting with a certain spark, one that Diluc could only admire.
Though when she finished, gathering the now-removed root and glancing back at him, he almost felt embarrassed for staring for so long.
The woman gave him a sheepish smile, a cute giggle escaping her, "Sorry for making you wait, and uh... thanks for the root."
"No problem." Diluc turned his gaze away from her to the place where the root once occupied. It was expertly cut, with no damage to the trellis or any of the grapevines, "Who exactly are you, anyway? I doubt any average citizen of Mondstadt would notice such a thing, let alone be able to handle it without issue."
She laughed, "I'm not from Mondstadt, actually; I just kinda wander from place to place, ya know? Oh, and the name's Y/n, I'm an apothecary."
Diluc hummed in response, "And I suppose you have some use for this particular plant for your practice?"
"It's more for experiments, really. I like to test things out."
She stood up rather quickly, bowing to Diluc with a joyful expression, "Thank you again, Mister. I'll be going now!"
And with those last words, she raced off into the woods near the Dawn Winery.
A sudden pang in Diluc's chest hit him harder than he thought, an outstretched hand following her form for a moment before recoiling back.
He didn't get to tell her his name, did he?
Kaeya's meeting with the wandering apothecary was a while back, long before the Traveler appeared in Mondstadt.
He liked to recall the memory from time to time, often musing about it and longing to see her again since he enjoyed her presence so much.
It had happened by chance, with Kaeya on his way to the Knights of Favonius Headquarters, and Y/n standing in the middle of the square's fountain.
Kaeya had almost laughed out loud. Seeing a random girl poking through the fountain was such an intense gaze was definitely a comical sight.
"Did you lose something in there?" The Cavalry captain couldn't hide the smile on his lips and was far too amused to hold back the teasing lilt to his voice.
Without a moment of hesitation, the woman shook her head, not even bothering to speak.
"Do you require some assistance then?"
A laugh escaped her, not sparing him a single glance, "Hardly. Besides, a knight wouldn't know the first thing about this."
Kaeya tilted his head to the side, trying to get a better view of what she was doing. Her gaze was set on the water before her, with her hands scraping something at the bottom of the fountain.
"...And what would that be?"
Her head snapped towards his direction, a big grin on her face, "Algae. What else?"
He had to admit, out of all the things she could have said, that was nowhere near what he expected.
She turned back to the water, slowly lifting her scraping utensil and depositing the contents of the algae into a small pouch, "I saw this when I was at Good Hunter earlier, so I knew that I needed to check it out!"
Kaeya only stared at her, for once not able to give his typical witty response.
The woman stepped out of the fountain, shaking off the excess water on her legs, then turning to leave the city, a pep in her step, and humming a small, cheerful tune.
Since then, Kaeya has met this woman more often, learning she was an apothecary who experimented with random plants and poisons.
And as the knight sat in Angel's Share, swirling a glass of dandelion wine in his hand, he couldn't help but wish that she could visit Mondstadt more often, if only to enjoy her sweet smile and adorable laugh once more.
One of these days, Kaeya would be sure to ask her to have dinner with him and hopefully woo her with his enigmatic charm.
She had piqued Lohen's interest the moment he saw her, with the knights under his order only staring in worry as their vice captain completely forwent the mission to talk to the random girl poking around the poisonous flowerbed.
His usual Cheshire grin flourished on his handsome face, "You know those are poisonous, right?"
The woman only hummed back in response, picking up one particularly well-preserved flower with a cute little smile on her face as she admired it.
Lohen stepped closer, his gaze landing on that adorable smile, eyes narrowing with a mischievous glint, "You gonna poison somebody with that?"
She laughed, almost shocking Lohen, if not for how pretty it sounded to his ears.
"No way. This stuff could kill the average man with only a milligram of the venom in its stem. I wouldn't do that to anyone." The woman picked a few more flowers, careful not to let the toxin escape from the bottom, "I'll be testing it on myself anyway."
The knights who were just standing around waiting for Lohen to finish his impromptu conversation all let out choked coughs and held flabbergasted expressions as they stared at the woman.
"Testing on yourself? A pretty 'lil thing like you?"
The woman shot him a glare, rising from her crouched position in the flowerbed, "One, don't call me little, and two, I can handle just about any poison in Teyvat, just so you know."
Lohen chuckled, "No need to get hostile; as a knight, it's my duty to make sure the citizens of Mondstadt are all safe. Wouldn't want someone getting sick, right?"
She stared at him for a moment, eyeing his expression and evaluating his body language, before finally speaking, "Something tells me that's not your actual concern."
The mint-haired man tilted his head, still grinning away, "Oh? And what makes you think that, lovely?"
The woman narrowed her eyes at that term of endearment, but straightened her shoulders, crossing her arms and faced him squarely, "You're the Vice Captain of the Fifth Company, right? You're a poison fiend from what I've heard. So I'm sure you know this type of toxin isn't contagious when it infects the body."
He held up his hands in mock surrender, "You got me."
Lohen lowered his hands, "You're that apothecary everyone keeps talkin' about, right? Could I get a name to match the pretty face?"
The h/c-haired woman stared again, then sighed at her own realization. She picked up her bag and prepared to leave, "It's Y/n. And you can stop with the flattery; I don't give out poisons for free."
As she left, Lohen couldn't help but chuckle. She knew the whole time that he wanted her poisons, didn't she? How cute. He'd have to be more covert next time.
And he hoped that that next time would be soon.
Varka found it hard to focus with such a loud commotion right outside his office. He could clearly hear Amber's worried shouts; she might as well have been screaming right in his ear for the difference it'd make.
Staring down at his mountain of paperwork, the Grandmaster let out a heavy sigh, then pushed himself up and out of his desk chair to see what was going on out there; it's not like he'd get any work done with that racket, nor did he want to.
His office door slid open, causing Amber to freeze mid-shout.
"G-grandmaster Varka!? I didn't realize you were in there...!" Embarrassment crossed the young outrider's features, "I'm really sorry for disturbing you, but I need to get this woman to Barbara A.S.A.P!"
Varka glanced at the woman next to Amber, someone he didn't recognize. But getting a good look at her, he couldn't help but think about how pretty she was, even with her expression clouded by some form of distress.
But as soon as he realized that he was just staring, Varka let out a small cough to cover his slightly more rosy cheeks, "Did a Hilichurl get you?"
The woman didn't respond, simply turning her gaze to the floor with pursed lips.
Varka glanced at Amber for an answer, which he got rather quickly.
"She ate some poisonous berries! I'm trying to get her to go to Barbara, but she's been refusing!!"
The Grandmaster's eyes widened, his head snapping to look at the woman again to confirm.
"And I told you that it's fine; I've ingested way worse toxins and come through just fine."
Amber huffed, taking hold of the woman's wrist, "If that really is the case, then a check-up won't hurt!"
The woman sighed, "It's really not necessary; I'd only be wasting Miss Barbara's time."
Their banter continued for a bit, Varka keeping his eye on the woman in front of him. Did he hear her right? Does she eat poisonous things on the regular? Why?
Varka laughed, catching both women off guard.
"Grandmaster Varka? This is hardly a laughing matter! Those berries could be killing her at this very moment!"
Varka showed a sheepish smile, "Sorry about that, but you don't happen to be that Apothecary everyone keeps talking about 'round here?"
The woman nodded after a few moments, almost hesitantly, "Whatever you heard, it's either not true, or my crimes have been greatly exaggerated."
The Grandmaster let out another laugh, "I was referring to an immunity to poisons you happen to have."
"Ah."
Silence stood between the three of them before this woman broke it, "So... can I go?"
Varka chuckled, while Amber stood with uncertainty in her gaze.
"If you start feeling sick, come back right away, alright?"
The woman did a mock salute before rushing out of the Knights of Favonius Headquarters.
Varka stared at her retreating figure, more amused than anything, a small hope in the back of his mind that he'd see her again.
A gust of wind nearly sent her flying off the tree, only barely escaping such a fate by taking hold of the branch she was sitting on at the last second.
Her curved blade nearly slipped from her fingers, catching the looped end with her other hand before it tumbled below.
With narrowed eyes, she glanced around, at least as much as could while dangling from a branch.
Y/n couldn't see anyone, but there was definitely a person here. She felt it. With a quick pull, she was sitting on the branch again, sitting still with a few cursory looks around the giant tree in Windrise.
When nothing happened, she carefully lifted her blade to resume her previous task.
But of course, another gust of wind was pointed in her direction; thankfully, she was prepared enough not to skid too far off.
"Whoever's doing that, you're being a real pain in the ass...!" Y/n glanced around again, an annoyed tone laced throughout her statement.
The branch she rested on dipped a bit as new weight was added, "Then stop messing with the Symbol of Mondstadt's Hero."
Y/n turned around and saw a shorter guy with deep black hair and an aqua-teal color fading in his front braids, a green outfit that looked like a fancy bard's getup. Her head tilted to the side, trying to get a good read on him, while his face was soft-looking and rather cute; however, his frown was evident, a look she could tell was unusual for him.
"I'm just getting this mycelium; I'll be in and out quick." Y/n turned back to extract the mushrooms she had noticed growing on the side of the large oak tree.
Another gust of wind nearly sent her right into the tree itself, which she stopped right before she faceplanted the hardened wood.
"Would you quit!? I'm not doin' anything bad here!"
She glanced over her shoulder at him again, his brows now furrowed deeply with puffed-out cheeks, "Not doing anything bad? You're clearly trying to hurt the tree!"
Y/n stared blankly at him, eyes trained on his expression and the small ways it fluctuated, from the crinkle between his brows to the flaring of his nostrils. Then, she spoke in a much less annoyed manner, "You're worried I'm hurting the tree? C'mere then."
The h/c-haired woman motioned for him to get closer, placing her blade back in its holster.
Cautiously, the raven-haired guy took a few steps closer.
Y/n then pointed at the mushrooms on the tree, "These are parasitic and saprophytic mushrooms, you know what that means?"
She didn't let him respond, instead pointing at the root point of the mycelium where signs of crackling wood were clear, "It's a wood-decay fungus, typically only feeding on dead trees; that's the saprophytic part, but when in dire need, it can grow on live trees to continue thriving, that's the parasitic part."
The guy's eyes widened, leaning in slightly more.
She continued, "It's in a rather early stage of development, so it's not doing any damage right now, but if it's left to fester, it can kill the tree within two to five years."
He went silent, staring down at his lap in thought before finally speaking, "And you were trying to stop that from happening..."
His words were more of a statement to himself than to her, but after a few short moments, he looked back at Y/n, a much softer expression on his face, "Sorry... about that."
Y/n smiled at him, picking up her blade again, "No need for an apology, just let me finish this real quick."
Within the next few minutes, the fungi was completely extracted and placed into a pouch for safekeeping.
She had fully expected the stranger to be gone, but he stood at the bottom of the tree instead, almost like he was waiting for her.
"You good?"
He looked like he didn't know what to say, his eyes having a hard time meeting hers. But after a moment of pure awkward silence, he spoke, a slightly more cheerful grin on his lips, "Thank you. For helping the tree, I mean."
Y/n laughed, "It's no problem. I'd hate to see this big guy go down; it's such a relaxing spot here in Mondstadt, one of my favorites to come to when I'm passing through."
The guy looked up at the big tree, "Me too..."
Silence came between them again, but much less awkward this time.
When that silence was broken, a friendly chat arose, learning each other's names and professions, then talking for a while longer before splitting ways.
And the stranger, now known to her as Venti, couldn't help but wish to see her again, hoping she stops by Mondstadt again, sooner rather than later.

There stood the Serpent Hashira. His eyes widened a bit when they met hers.
They looked at each other for a moment, gazes unmoving, before Iguro turned around to walk back where he came from.
"W-wait! Mr. Iguro!" He froze for a moment, slowly looking over his shoulder at her.
"Yes?" Iguro was trying so hard not to stutter.
"What are you doing here? You're not injured, are you?"
He felt his voice catch in his throat, "I... had some business with Kocho."
"Oh! You just missed her! She went that way." Y/n pointed in the direction that Shinobu had just walked with Aoi.
He stayed still, unsure of what to do or say.
Iguro didn't actually need Shinobu for anything. The real reason for his visit was-
"Mr. Iguro?"
The black-haired man jolted a bit at his name being called out. He quickly turned so that he had his back to her, not wanting to see her pretty face. But after another long moment of silence, he spoke, "L/n... how are your injuries?"
"Huh?" Y/n tilted her head in confusion, not that the Serpent Hashira could see it.
"I heard about the train. And that you were in a coma for a few weeks. How are your injuries?"
Y/n smiled, "They're fine! Shinobu just wants to observe me for the next week to see how my condition is. It's very kind of you to ask, Mr. Iguro!"
He went quiet again, but this time he actually turned to face her.
Iguro didn't want to admit it, but ever since he saw her at the Hashira meeting, she'd occupied his thoughts. And now she was smiling at him. It just might be too much for him to handle.
His eyes darted around the room, looking anywhere but her face, when they landed on the nightstand, where her broken hairpin was.
"Is that yours?"
Y/n gave a sorrowful smile, "Yeah, it is... apparently one of the Kakushi found it on the ground after the battle. I don't think it can be repaired..."
He went quiet again. Then, finally, he spoke, "Feel better soon." He then wordlessly left. Going in the opposite direction that Shinobu was in.
She was about to say something about it, but decided to leave it.
| A Few Hours Later |
A knock was heard at her door. Kanao walked through the frame, carrying something behind her back.
"Oh, Kanao! It's good to see you!" Y/n smiled up at her from the bed.
Kanao's cheeks flushed a bit, now nervous about giving Y/n the gift she had bought earlier.
"It's good to see you, too, Y/n." A faint smile crossed her lips, "I'm sorry about your hairpin. I know this won't be able to replace it, but...!"
The tsuguko quickly shoved a small piece of jewelry into Y/n's hands, "I hope you like it... If you don't, I can try to find another one."
Y/n looked down at her hands. In them was a small bracelet, one with cute little butterfly charms hooked onto the metal ring with f/c beads in between.
"Kanao... it's...!"
The black-haired girl looked a little ashamed, her glance sweeping to the side, "I don't know if you like butterflies, but-"
"I love it." Y/n smiled at Kanao, "This was really thoughtful of you. Now, every time I wear it, I can think of you, Shinobu, Aoi, and the others here."
Her cheeks turned a bit pinker. This really wasn't like her. She never felt so weird giving someone a gift. Y/n was a friend, right? Friends give each other gifts all the time... so why did this feel strange?
"Kanao, are you alright?"
"Yes... Sorry, I hope you have a good rest of your day, Y/n." She quickly made her escape. Kanao seriously had to figure out why Y/n made her heart beat so fast.
After Kanao left, Y/n stared at the empty doorway, a little shocked by the sudden appearance and disappearance. But then she glanced down at the bracelet in her palms.
She smiled at it, carefully putting on the piece of jewelry and smiling even wider as the charms caught a bit of the light coming from the window.
The next day was a bit weird.
Zenitsu was practically dangling from her side.
Inosuke kept hounding her about going to the garden for some reason.
And Tanjiro was doing his best to mediate between the two boys.
All while Y/n was fighting a major headache. She's had it since she woke up that morning. When she consulted Shinobu about it, she simply told her to drink as much water as possible and that the cause was most likely dehydration.
So here she was, sitting on her bed with a gourd in her lap, Zenitsu and Inosuke fighting about who would take Y/n to the garden, and Tanjiro trying to stop them from brawling.
As she was taking a sip, her eyes widened at the sight of a figure in the doorway.
There was the Serpent Hashira again! He stood quietly, taking in the scene of her with the three other boys.
The room went quiet at his presence. When his eyes caught sight of the boys, they narrowed a bit.
"L/n, hi."
She smiled at him, "Hello! Two days in a row, you must have something important happening with Shinobu, huh?"
Iguro tensed a bit but then relaxed after a brief moment, "Not today. I have something for you, actually."
Y/n looked a bit confused, but she brightened as he pulled something out of his haori sleeve.
It was a hairpin! A pretty silver one with a swirling design, he held it out to her and let her take it.
"It's beautiful! Thank you so much!"
While this exchange was going on, the three boys were watching in astonishment.
A single thought was going through all of their minds:
Since when has Y/n gotten so friendly with the Serpent Hashira!? Why is he giving her a gift like that!?
Zenitsu was the first to speak up, "Why are you giving Y/n gifts!? Who said you could do that!? We'll be married soon, Homewrecker!"
Iguro seemed a bit annoyed with the blond, and so did Tanjiro and Inosuke.
"Zenitsu, please, calm down..." Y/n smiled at him, "We've only known each other for so long, don't you think it would be weird if we got married so quickly?"
Zenitsu flailed his arms around a bit in protest, "Not at all! You're my true love, Y/n-chan! It's not weird! Not one bit!"
Inosuke decided at that moment to punch Zenitsu in the back of the head, "Stop trying to steal my right-hand woman! I'm the boss, so she's with me, got it!?"
Y/n sighed. Ever since he woke up on the train, he had been referring to her as his right-hand woman, which she wasn't exactly sure what to make of.
Tanjiro put a finger to his lips. He spoke with a bit of a quieter tone, "You guys, let's quiet down, yeah? We don't want to make Y/n's headache worse."
The h/c haired girl smiled gratefully, "Thanks, Tanjiro."
Iguro glared a bit at the boy; the way Y/n was smiling at him gave the Hashira a small pit in the middle of his stomach.
Y/n turned back to the black-haired man, "Thank you again for the hairpin, Mr. Iguro! It's very beautiful!" This time her smile was directed at him, and the pit went away.
"It's no big deal. Let me know if it breaks, alright? If it does, I'll buy you another one."
The girl was about to respond, but Zenitsu cut her off.
"Don't get so cozy with Y/n-chan! I'm the only one who should be buying her things!"
Y/n silently shook her head as Zenitsu glared at the Hashira.
She took another small sip from her gourd, grinning after she placed it back in her crossed lap, "How about we all go to the garden? It's a nice day out."
Iguro's eyes brightened a bit, but they dimmed again after a fleeting glance to the other boys, "I have business to attend to, but maybe some other time."
Y/n smiled at him, "Sounds good to me, I'll see you around then."
He nodded and quickly left the room.
Silence stood between the four of them, but Y/n broke the brief bit of quiet, "Let's head to the garden, I think some fresh air would be nice." She made a move to get up, but Tanjiro was faster
He offered her his hand to help her from her position, "Don't rush yourself, Y/n, Shinobu wanted you to take it easy, you can lean on me if you need to."
Zenitsu huffed at Tanjiro's words, "She could lean on me, too!"
Inosuke shouted, an expression of irritation morphing onto his boar mask, "Why would she lean on you two when the boss is right here!?"
Y/n sighed, taking Tanjiro's hand and standing up, albeit a little wobbly.
"I'll be fine, you guys, don't worry so much." Y/n gave the trio a reassuring grin, then walked toward the door and out to the engawa of the Butterfly Mansion.
When they were all settled, it became a lot more peaceful. The butterflies drifting across the breeze gave a calming effect, quieting everyone with their gentle fluttering.
And even after a few arguments came and went, it was nice to just spend time with the three boys.
But something wasn't right. Her headache wasn't improving whatsoever; in fact, it was worsening.
She felt like she was forgetting something, something important. Y/n looked down at the gourd in her lap, focusing on what it could possibly be.
Back before she woke up... a voice... a face? Something so familiar and close...
Her expression must have been grim since Tanjiro had gently placed his calloused hand on her shoulder, asking if she was alright.
Yet his voice sounded so hollow, like he was far away. She glanced up to see his face, but the world seemed to spin.
With a sudden ringing in her ears, the colors of the world twisting in her vision, and the nausea-inducing way her head was pounding...
And in that instant, the memory of her old home came back. The woman who looked just like her. Her ancestor. And her mother.
Then... Psyche. The technique they talked about... it all flooded into her mind.
The forms, the movements, her thoughts were overtaken by the sheer amount of information.
She blinked, and the world seemed normal again.
Tanjiro still had his hand on her shoulder. He asked something, but she couldn't quite hear.
"Wh-what was that?"
"Are you alright? You seem out of it, Y/n."
Y/n blankly stared, thoughts coming together again, a smile formed on her lips, "I'm fine, Tanjiro. I was just..."
She glanced down at the gourd in her lap, "I should get a refill, I think the water's helping my headache."
Zenitsu stood up in a flash, taking the gourd and running off with a pleased grin, "I'll fill it for you, Y/n-chan! Just wait here!"
Inosuke ran after him, "No, I'll do it! You're too weak!"
That left just Y/n and Tanjiro on the engawa. Y/n giggled at their sheer enthusiasm.
Tanjiro still had a worried expression on his face, "Y/n, are you sure you're okay?"
She turned to him, e/c eyes meeting his dark maroon ones, "I feel great, Tanjiro. In fact, I'm... I'm happy."
His worried look was replaced by one of confusion, "H-happy?"
Y/n laughed, "I feel like I'm making progress, ya know? I think I want to start training tomorrow."
Tanjiro's mouth fell open, "But your injuries are-"
"Perfectly fine. Really, Tanjiro, I'm good." She tilted her head as she grinned, "You and everyone else here make healing a lot easier, so as long as you're all by my side, I'll be in top shape in no time."
He stared at her, searching her features for any sign of pain or hesitancy. Then he sniffed the air a bit; all he could smell was a certain calm and ease from Y/n, reminding him of the time before they became demon slayers. A smile slowly came across his lips, "If you're sure... then I'll join you."
Quietness overtook them, with something gnawing in the back of Tanjiro's mind.
So Tanjiro took his hand in hers, opening his mouth to speak, but no words came out.
It was only a few moments later that he spoke, "And I... I won't let this happen again. I won't let you get hurt like before." His smile got wider, "For you, for Nezuko, and everyone, I'll get stronger."
Y/n smiled in return, eyes softening, a comfortable silence now brewing between the pair.
Tanjiro stared into Y/n's eyes, thoughts swarming, heart beating ever so slightly faster, he was about to break the bit of silence with three simple words, but was interrupted by a shout from Zenitsu and Inosuke.
"WE GOT THE WATER!!! DRINK UP, DRINK UP!"
He could only sigh in response while Y/n was given the gourd from the other two. It wouldn't have been the right time to say it anyway; there was so much to do before it'd even be close to the right time.
Tanjiro could wait. He'd wait for her for as long as it takes.

From the moment that news of the infinity train had reached the Butterfly Mansion, it wasn't as cheerful as it had been before.
Rengoku's injuries were rather severe; his torn muscles and broken ribs left him bedridden for a couple of weeks. His eye, while heavily damaged, was repaired thanks to Shinobu's hard work.
Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke had minor injuries as well. Small cuts and bruises were common among the three of them.
Nezuko was also hurt in the fight, but due to her demon physiology, she was able to heal with some well-deserved sleep.
The worst of them all was Y/n. The stab wound she received had miraculously healed, which confused Shinobu to no end. But even though it was healed, Y/n hadn't woken up in the three weeks since she returned to the Butterfly Mansion.
The head of the house, Shinobu, theorized that it was due to extreme exhaustion. The accounts of that night from Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Rengoku, it seemed that while she was still suffering from the stab wound, Y/n pushed herself too far when joining the fight, even though said wound was able to heal.
She lay motionless in her room, with dark circles under her eyes, even though she'd gotten nothing but sleep.
A worried and strained expression was constantly on her face as if fighting through some pain.
And everyone couldn't help but wonder if she was ever going to wake up.
It was hard seeing her like this. Tanjiro sat next to her bed, his hand holding hers. His thumb rubbed imaginary patterns into her skin, thoughts anything but clear.
He felt like he had failed her. Even though she was in pain, even though she was injured, she still fought tooth and nail to save a life. He wasn't the type to drown in self-pity, but Tanjiro couldn't help it.
This was the woman he cherished more than anything. And he couldn't help her. There was a wall between him and his success, and he wasn't able to get past it.
Tanjiro paused for a moment, looking up from her hand to her face.
He had to grow stronger. No doubt there. He needed to be able to protect her, no matter what. He made a promise to her. He'll finish this mess. He'll defeat Muzan. For Nezuko and Y/n's sake.
"Tanjiro! We have dinner waiting for you!" One of the butterfly girls called from down the hall.
His grip loosened on her hand, and slowly, Tanjiro got up from his chair. He walked to the door, turning to face her once more, worry etched into his features.
"Please wake up, Y/n. I have to make this up to you."
With that, he left her room. He practically dragged his feet to go eat dinner.
She wasn't supposed to leave her box during the day; she knew that. She knew that Shinobu wasn't going to be happy about her leaving the shaded den where she resided for Y/n's room across the mansion.
But Nezuko didn't really care at the moment.
All she wanted to do was see Y/n, whom she hadn't been able to catch a glimpse of for weeks.
Nezuko knew that she had been in a coma for those few weeks, so she felt nothing but worry for the girl.
So as she crept through the halls in her smaller form, Nezuko was intent on seeing the girl she loved so dearly for so many years.
When Nezuko reached Y/n's room, she hummed a worried tone under her bamboo muzzle.
She crawled to the bed, climbing on top of Y/n, and lying on her chest. Nezuko let out a pleased purr as she snuggled into the h/c-haired girl.
The demon girl lay there for a while, just basking in the feeling of being near Y/n. Her clawed hand slowly reached for Y/n's soft fingers.
She laced her hand with Y/n's all while letting out a happy rumble.
Her thoughts turned to prayers. Hoping that her friend will wake up sometime soon.
Nezuko then slowly drifted off to sleep, fully realizing that she was going to get the scolding of a lifetime from Shinobu later.
But at the moment, that didn't matter. All that mattered to her right now was that she was with Y/n. That's all she needed for now.
He spent a long time crying. Worrying. Hoping. Wondering when the love of his life was going to wake up from her coma.
This had been going on for weeks now. He would enter her room, sit by her side, and tell her stories from the day. From the weird to the slightly amusing to anything regarding Inosuke being stupid, Zenitsu would talk to her for hours.
He didn't know for sure if she could hear him at all. He hoped she could. He wanted her to hear him. But there was really no way to know if she could unless she was awake to tell him.
Today, he sat next to Y/n and told her about the really good piece of tempura he was about to have, but Inosuke stole and ate it right in front of him.
But after telling that silly story, Zenitsu paused. His eyes were filled with tenderness and love.
"Y/n, I hope you're okay..." He held her hand, bringing it close to his chest, so she could feel his heartbeat, "I want to hear your voice. I want to hear your laugh again."
Tears started to fall from his eyes, "Y/n... you're worrying all of us..."
Zenitsu gripped her hand a little tighter, "I really do want to marry you, Y/n. So please... wake up. So we can be happy together."
A shadow cast over his face, heart aching slightly. He slowly placed her hand back where it was. Then he stood and walked out the door, wiping away any stray tears.
Inosuke was kicking himself. He felt like a loser, and he hated it. He wasn't able to do anything after the train crashed.
Specifically, he wasn't able to do anything for Y/n. She had jumped into the fray without a second thought. He should have done that. He should have been the one injured, not her.
For some reason, he couldn't understand; he felt funny around Y/n. Inosuke couldn't help but want to impress her with his strength. To bring her nice things like acorns and pretty rocks.
He didn't hate this feeling, but it was just... different. Inosuke wanted to protect Y/n, but he failed to do that.
Right now, Inosuke was out in the garden. He was picking up acorns that he thought would be a perfect gift for Y/n when she woke up.
The boar man sifted through the grass, picking up small and large rocks that were particularly pretty. And if he found a nice, full, and shiny acorn, he picked those up as well.
Soon, he entered the mansion with his haul, hands cupped to hold his bits and bobbles.
When he arrived at Y/n's room, he set the acorns and rocks on her nightstand. They clattered a bit and then settled in a small pile.
Inosuke was silent for a moment. He walked closer to her bedside, just standing there, unsure of what to do from there.
"I found these." He was quiet again. It was hard to render Inosuke speechless, but she had unknowingly done it.
"Don't stay asleep forever, Bug Eyes. After fighting like that, you have to fight me next. Got it?" Inosuke was mumbling, but he couldn't raise his voice any higher.
He turned and left the room, slightly hesitating when he reached the doorway, but he continued into the hallway.
She came every day to check on her. Every so often, she would change the flowers in the vase on her nightstand.
Kanao had been feeling strange. Ever since the day Y/n told her to follow her heart, she hasn't been the same.
Slowly but surely, she would make decisions on her own, without the coin.
It was odd for her, at first. Kanao would feel the urge to grab the coin from her pocket, but then Y/n's words would come into her mind, and she'd stop.
A warm feeling bloomed across her chest every time Y/n had crossed her thoughts. She didn't exactly know what it meant, but it was a nice feeling nonetheless.
Today, she noticed something she hadn't before. It was a hairpin, one that Kanao remembered Y/n wearing all the time. It sat on the table next to her bed; it wasn't there the day before.
Kanao went and asked Aoi if she knew about it.
"The hairpin? One of the Kakushi found it at the train sight. They didn't know who it belonged to until Tanjiro recognized it. So they put it in Y/n's room for when she wakes up."
The girl nodded and went back to Y/n's room. The hairpin was broken, which she was sure of. The clasp of the pin had snapped off, the piece right next to the rest of it.
Kanao delicately picked it up, wondering if she could fix it somehow. While inspecting it, she concluded that the pieces were too chipped and damaged to put back together.
She put it back down. Y/n was definitely going to be disappointed about it. If she wore it all the time, it must have meant something to her.
With a frown on her face, Kanao left the room, trying to think of what she could do to fix it.
She didn't even have to flip the coin to know that this was something she wanted to do. Kanao was following her heart. When Y/n woke up, she would be happy to hear this.
Y/n just had to wake up. Any day now.
As a doctor, Shinobu was worried about her patient's condition and lack of lucidity.
And as a friend, she was worried that Y/n was never going to wake up.
She would walk into her room every day, give her some medicine, and check where the stab wound was.
It still baffled her that there was no sign of it. From what Tanjiro said, it was a rather deep cut, but when she looked at the area he indicated, nothing but Y/n's smooth skin was seen.
When Y/n woke up, she'd ask about it.
As that thought occurred to her, a troubling bit of anxiety crossed her mind.
What if Y/n never woke up?
She shook her head; that thought process wasn't going to do her any good. Shinobu had to have hope.
For the sake of the younger girls, the Insect Hashira stayed smiling. They were worried enough already. If they saw her sweating about this, they would only feel worse.
But she couldn't stop the feeling from chipping away at her hopes. It had been three, nearly four weeks of Y/n's endless sleep. The constant troubled expression on the girl's beautiful face didn't help either.
It was as if she were fighting through something. Or maybe she was focusing too hard. Whatever it was, it didn't quell Shinobu's concerns.
The black-to-purple-haired woman stood next to Y/n's bedside. She had just finished checking where the stab wound was. Still nothing.
She sighed, a somber expression on her face,
"You're quite the troublemaker, Y/n. You're worrying us all. You're a medical anomaly. And you make my heart beat too fast." Shinobu's hands grazed Y/n's fingers, wanting to take hold of her hand, but also being too nervous to do so.
Her voice went quieter, "I didn't think I'd fall for someone so hard... but you seem to be full of surprises."
Shinobu's expression softened, "Surprise me again. Despite all of this... wake up. Please... I don't like to beg."
After a moment of pure silence, she turned away. Hesitantly walking toward the door and leaving for the hallway.
Rengoku was finally able to visit. Shinobu had put him on bed rest for the past few weeks, even though he'd been dying to see a certain girl. One he's decided something about.
He was in love with her. No doubt in his mind. He may have only known her for a short time, but it couldn't be anything else.
Her bravery. Her strength. Her beauty. He loved her. She had saved his life without hesitation, and now he was sure that he would do the same for her.
Y/n L/n was remarkable to him, someone who ignited a fire within his heart.
Today, he sat at her bedside. Silent as could be, with a frown on his face.
Even though she should've awakened weeks ago, she still had her eyes closed in a deep slumber.
Rengoku wanted to thank her endlessly. To dote on her and show his affection. But he couldn't. Not like this. Not while she wasn't conscious.
He stared at her, silently willing her to wake up. To open her eyes and smile at him. He wanted this more than anything.
The flame-haired man reached over and caressed the side of her face, tucking a small piece of loose hair behind her ear.
His warm hand lingered on her cheek, holding it for a moment.
He could swear, if only for a moment, that there was a faint smile on her lips at his touch.
When he pulled away, he looked down at that same hand. It felt even warmer than it did before. A ghost of a smile came onto his features.
He decided to look forward to the moment when he could do this all the time.
On the day that turned three weeks of sleep into four, something strange happened.
She stirred a bit. No one was in her room to see, but slight movements came from under her covers.
Her fingers would twitch a bit. Then her arms and torso.
All until she jolted upright. Her breaths started to heave, her mind completely and utterly blank for that moment.
What the... Where am I!?
Y/n glanced around the room. It was slightly familiar. The layout reminded her of... the Butterfly Mansion! That's where she was.
A small sigh of relief escaped her. At least she was somewhere she was acquainted with.
The h/c haired girl stretched a bit, her muscles a bit stiff. How long had she been lying here? What was the last thing she remembered?
That had to be falling asleep in Rengoku's arms, his smiling face looking down at her.
But there was something else, wasn't there? Something in between then and now. Though she couldn't recall anything else.
Slowly, she swung her leg off the bed, letting her bare feet touch the hardwood floors.
Y/n stood up; her legs were slightly wobbly. Just how long was she asleep for? It felt like she hadn't walked for days!
Once she got her footing, she started to wander down the halls of the Butterfly Mansion.
No one was around, so she had to go find someone and ask them some of the millions of questions she had plaguing her mind at the moment.
She spotted someone at the very end of the hall, and it was Tanjiro!
A grateful smile crossed her face, "Tanjiro! Hey!" Her voice was slightly groggy, but it should have been loud enough for him to hear her.
Tanjiro froze for a moment. He blinked slowly, rubbing his eyes and then staring back at her.
"Tanjiro! Can you hear me?"
Tears sprang to his eyes. He started to run towards her, enveloping her in a giant hug, holding her tightly as if she could disappear at any moment.
"Thank goodness! Thank goodness!" His tears started to drip onto her shoulders as he squeezed her tightly, "Y/n... I'm so glad you're awake!"
"T-tanjiro! Are you okay!?" She held onto him as well, wrapping her arms around his torso, a worried expression taking over her features.
"You were asleep for so long...! I thought... I thought I'd never talk to you again!"
"Huh? How long was I asleep for?"
He pulled back a bit, facing her with tears still dripping down his cheeks, "Today would make four weeks..."
Well, that explained why she was so stiff.
Y/n smiled up at him, "Sorry for worrying you, Tanjiro. I really am..."
Tanjiro shook his head, "You don't have to apologize! Let's go find everyone else, okay? They'll be happy to see you, too!"
She nodded, letting the boy take his hand in hers and guiding her to the other rooms.
Everyone was glad, of course, but Shinobu wasn't feeling right about something.
"Y/n, you really shouldn't be out and about." Shinobu sternly said.
"But I feel fine, really, I don't feel pain anywhere. Maybe I'm a little tired, but that's it!"
Shinobu frowned, still unsure about how Y/n had healed. If she went into a coma after being exhausted, as Shinobu thought, then her muscles should be aching. Or her legs wouldn't let her stand. There should be no way that Y/n is this healthy after a scare like that.
"You really are a medical anomaly." Shinobu sighed, deciding to take it in stride, "Just be careful, alright? If you get tired, sit or lie down."
She then turned to Aoi, "And make sure she's getting three meals a day, okay?"
Aoi nodded.
"I want to watch you for the next week or so, okay? I need to see how you react to being out of your coma."
Y/n nodded as well, going to her room to lie down in her bed, trying to get comfortable. Her back was a bit stiff from lying in the same position for those four weeks.
Shinobu and Aoi had gone in the other direction shortly after their conversation, but Shinobu almost lingered a bit, like she wanted to say something but couldn't.
It wasn't until they had both left that someone she had least expected to come into the room.
What was he doing here?

The demon instantly went in for a punch, one solely directed at Y/n's head.
Rengoku didn't allow it to connect; his sword sliced the demon's arm into two. This made him skid back a bit on his feet.
However, the wound healed almost immediately. The demon lifted his arm, licking away a stray droplet of blood from the back of his hand.
"Nice blade."
Rengoku was smiling, but there was no joy in his eyes, "I can't understand why you're targeting a wounded person."
This demon smiled back at him, amusement coursing through him, "I thought she'd get in the way of our conversation between you and me."
"You and I have something to talk about?" He carried his blade, ready for his next attack, "It's our first time meeting, but I already hate you."
The pink-haired demon smirked, "Is that so? I hate weak humans. When I look at weaklings, I just feel disgusted."
"It looks like you and I have very different values in that regard."
The demon put a hand on his hip, "I see. Then I have a wonderful proposal." His smile grew, "How about you become a demon too?"
Without a single bit of hesitation, Rengoku shook his head, "Not a chance."
"I know your strength just by looking at you, you're a Hashira, right? Your fighting spirit is quite polished. You're getting close to supreme territory."
A moment of silence passed before Rengoku spoke again, "I am the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku."
"And I'm Akaza. Kyojuro, I'll tell you why you aren't crossing into supreme territory." He pointed at Rengoku, a serious look on his face, "Because you're human. Because you'll grow old. Because you'll die."
Akaza's stare bore into the Flame Hashira, "Become a demon, Kyojuro, if you do, you can continue to train for a hundred. Even two hundred years. You can become stronger."
This isn't good!! If this guy is Upper-Rank Three, then he has a lot of Muzan's blood in him... I have to back up Rengoku! But I'm in so much pain...
"Growing old and dying is a part of the beauty of humans. Because they grow old and die, they are tremendous, lovable, and precious. What they call strength isn't a word that is used regarding the body." He stood squarely in front of Y/n, "This girl isn't weak. Don't insult her. I'll say it again, you and I have different values. I will never become a demon."
"I see." He got into a wide stance, his palm outstretched to face them, "If you won't become a demon, then I'll kill you!!"
Then their assault on each other began.
A flurry of flames blocked each of Akaza's attacks; they moved so quickly that it was hard to tell what was going on.
The rest of their group found Y/n, trying to help her steady her breaths.
"Y/n, you have to calm down! Your breathing is too ragged!" Tanjiro held her hand as Y/n rested on his shoulder. Her chest was rapidly moving up and down with unsteady breaths.
Something bad was going to happen, she knew it. That same feeling the night before her family died, this was it! Rengoku was going to die if she didn't do something.
She slowly tried to get up, but was held down by Zenitsu.
"Y/n-chan! Don't get up! You're hurt!"
I can't sit by! I can't do nothing! I won't just let Rengoku die, not like my family did!
You idiot.
Huh?
Don't you understand? Your breathing is all wrong, moron!
What the... who is that?
That same voice was the one that woke her up from her dream!
My name doesn't matter right now! You're my descendant, that's all that counts! It means you have the Psyche running through your veins! Just focus on breathing the right way!
Focus...? Focus... Focus.
In her mind, she could see the moves she needed.
Before, she could see it to save herself, but now she saw it to save Rengoku.
The moment her eyes settled on the fight before her, she stood up in an instant, her wound not hurting whatsoever.
In the fight, Akaza was swinging his fist towards Rengoku's chest, no doubt about to completely punch through him.
It's now or never!
She took a deep breath in, the cries of her friends drowned out by the calm she felt for that single instant.
Psyche | Solid Umbrage
In a split second, Y/n was at Rengoku's side. Her sword completely sliced through Akaza's arm, leaving nothing of his arm but his rotator cuff.
The limb fell to the ground with a small thud. Akaza stared in disbelief, his head slowly turning to face Y/n.
She let out a breath, opening her eyes to show that her e/c eyes had larger flecks of jade in them.
"I won't let it end like this." Y/n swung her sword again at the demon, aimed straight for his neck, but Akaza managed to fall back a considerable amount.
"L/n... your injuries...!" Rengoku started to speak, but he stopped when he noticed that the wound had completely closed. The tear in her uniform, where the stab wound was revealed nothing but her s/t (Skin Tone) skin.
A determined expression was on her face, and she stood protectively in front of Rengoku, "I'm not letting you die here. You have so much to do." She looked over her shoulder at him, "You can't die until no family has to worry about demons anymore, okay?"
He felt a warmth come across his chest, his one good eye widening a bit, the other shut due to the fight. She had just saved him. Her wounds were healed. Rengoku was simply amazed.
Akaza rushed forward, a wide grin on his face, "What a fighting spirit! You! What is your name!?"
She blocked his next attack with her sword, slicing at his left arm, as he had not regenerated his other limb yet.
"I'm Y/n L/n, and I will take your head!"
The demon froze. This was the girl Muzan wanted! He had called her weak before, but now he saw why the master wanted her; she was truly remarkable!
"Even with an injury, you made it all the way here... Y/n, you're incredible. You're wonderful. Become a demon, you'll only grow from there."
Y/n narrowed her eyes, "I would rather eat rocks."
Akaza's eye twitched a bit in annoyance, "Then come with me to his Lordship. He's been waiting for you."
"He can wait for an eternity!" Y/n rushed forward, aiming for his head again.
Psyche | Anima
She cut halfway through his neck before he managed to get out of the way. Sweat dripped from his forehead. No human had ever gotten that far into his neck.
"Become a demon, Y/n! It's what you're made for!" Akaza made another move, but it was once again blocked thanks to Y/n's incredible speed.
"I was made to bring joy to my family! I'll never become a demon, you hear! I'll rot in hell before I even consider it!!!"
That's when a flicker of light dashed across the horizon. Akaza's eyes widened a bit, terror striking through his entire body.
He rushed to the forest, trying to find some sort of cover.
Y/n tried to go after him, but she felt her body tense up. She let out a small gasp and fell to the ground, letting out a round of coughs.
She felt a warm hand place itself on her back, gently soothing her.
Tanjiro was rushing towards the forest as well, shouting his head off at Akaza, about how she and Rengoku were the true victors, and that he was a coward.
Her vision went a bit blurry as she tried to focus on the sights before her.
It took a moment, but she finally saw Rengoku by her side.
"L/n?"
"S...sorry... What was that...?"
Rengoku smiled at her, "Thank you. You saved my life."
She gave him a small grin, "No sweat."
He laughed a bit before reaching and cradling her in his arms.
"Whatever you do... don't die. I have to properly thank you after all this."
"What do you mean? You just thanked me already..."
"Don't worry about that for now, just rest. The Kakushi will arrive in a bit."
She felt her body grow weaker, "O...okay..." Her eyes started to flutter shut.
The last sight she saw was Rengoku's face smiling down at her.
When she awoke, she was in her old family home. But it looked slightly different. The wood looked less worn, newer, and brighter. As if the years of her siblings running and spilling their food on it had never happened.
Y/n jolted upright. How did she get here? Wasn't she just on the battlefield?
She looked around, spotting their small but sturdy dining table in a different spot than she was used to.
There sat two women. One looked exactly like her, but she was slightly taller and had a bit more of a mature face. It's how she'd imagine herself if she were about half a decade older.
Next to her look-alike was someone who looked exactly like her mother. This couldn't be the afterlife, right?
"Took you long enough."
"Huh?"
The woman who looked just like she did scoffed a bit, "What are you waiting for? Come and sit. You're wasting precious time."
"O-oh... sorry..." Y/n got up as quickly as she could, moving toward the table to sit down cross-legged across from the two women.
"Don't mind her, she just doesn't like to wait on others." The woman who looked like her mother also sounded like her.
Hearing that voice after so many years since she's seen her face-to-face made tears fall from her eyes.
"Don't cry like a baby! You're my descendant! Grow up!"
"Hey, hey, don't get mad at her, it's been a while since she's seen me, you know."
Y/n looked up at the woman. She was her mother... it had to be her!
"M-mom?" She went to wipe some of the tears clouding her vision.
"It's good to see you, honey."
The young h/c haired girl let out a small sob, half of sorrow, half of joy.
"I'm not dead yet, right?" She said, between quiet sobbing.
"You're halfway there. But that's beside the point. You shouldn't worry about it."
"Huh...!? Halfway!?"
The woman who looked just like her huffed, "I said don't worry about that! You're gonna go back to the real world, you just need to heal your spirit first!"
"What do you mean?"
She sighed, pointing accusingly, "You weren't using Psyche properly! You used them with the wrong breathing! So it's damaged your spirit!"
"Psyche... Right... What even is Psyche?"
The older h/c haired woman got an irritated expression on her face, "You mean you don't even know what it is, you little brat!?"
"Was I supposed to?"
The woman looked over at her mother with a look of betrayal, "You did a terrible job teaching her, M/n!"
"I never got the chance to. I died before I could ever bring it up." Her mother looked solemn for a moment before smiling back at Y/n, "I'm sorry I never told you about demons... or that I helped slay them. I was going to do it on your eighteenth birthday, but I never got to live to see that day."
Y/n looked down at her lap, not knowing what to say.
"Fine. Enough of that." The woman rolled her eyes, "To put it simply, Psyche is a technique I developed to expand your thinking and increase your strength tenfold."
"Expand my thinking?"
"Like Ultra Vision, for example, it lets you see your opponent's attacks, right? That's because your mind can calculate their moves at a high speed from the smallest of movements with this ability."
"So that's how that works?"
The woman let out an even deeper sigh, "You're lucky we're related, otherwise I'd send you flying right now."
Y/n just stared at her; their resemblance was kind of weirding her out.
"Why do you look like me?"
The older woman scoffed, "For one, you look like me." She tapped her leg impatiently, "There's no point in talking about this, I'm your ancestor, simple as that. Now focus on fixing your spirit."
Y/n seemed confused, "But how do I do that?"
Her mother spoke calmly, "Focus on happy memories. Focus on those you love more than anything. Focus on your breathing."
For a moment, Y/n didn't know what exactly to do. M/n gestured for her to lie down.
She did as such, closing her eyes to focus on her breathing.
Memories of her life before demons existed to her, thoughts of Tanjiro and Nezuko flooded her mind. Their happy faces made her smile, too.
Then her thoughts shifted to Zenitsu and Inosuke. She hadn't known them for very long, but she enjoyed the time she spent with both of them.
Giyu was the next person she thought of. If it weren't for him, her and Tanjiro would never have become demon slayers. While she wasn't sure what he thought of her, Y/n felt a bit of hope that he thought of her as a friend.
Next was Shinobu, who helped heal her from her injuries. The other little butterfly girls sprang to mind as well. Thanks to them, Kanao, and Aoi, she was stronger than before.
Rengoku was last. She had known him for the least amount of time, but she liked him a lot. His smile was reassuring and made her feel at ease.
Her mind started to drift away, her breathing calm and steady.
A few moments passed with her relaxing.
Until everything faded into nothing, and she woke up in a hospital bed.
