Another breather episode before (by the looks of it) the next arc begins next week. My current theory is that "Decchi" is actually another one of the Phantom Thieves - my money is on Luluka or Usonoir - in disguise, but who knows.

There's not really all that much to say about this episode. It's kind of just a simple mystery sandwiched between some exposition. The mystery itself wasn't that interesting - though I liked how they incorporated the events of last episode - and as usual there wasn't much of a dynamic between the characters to make up for it. I do think a breather episode like this is important, especially after all the action of the past few weeks, but I also think it could've been done a lot better. This would've been a great time to acclimate Kurea to the rest of the team - set up an interesting dynamic with Anna and Mikuru, show off more of her personality, etc - but any bits of characterization we get feel like an afterthought. Mikuru and Kurea fangirling over Agatha Christie was cute, but it didn't really go anywhere. Kurea doesn't really struggle with solving the mystery at all, so her big moment towards the ending doesn't really hit. It's all exposition and mystery boxes and hype moments and aura.

Speaking of said exposition, we do get a bit of setup for the next arc when Kurea reveals that a Cure's Makoto Jewel contains her memories and experience as a Star Detective. Anna wonders how she was able to transform since she'd never worked as a detective before, and then Jett cuts her off because the credits are about to roll. That's an interesting setup that I could see leading to a good emotional payoff, seeing as most Precure shows end with the girls losing their ability to transform. My prediction is Anna will send her Makoto Jewel with all the experience she's gained as a Star Detective throughout the show back in time to her episode 1 self, creating a perfect time loop. Alternatively, the thing Jett said about Anna and Mikuru being "the miraculous duo" is foreshadowing somehow, idk.

Anyway I'm very sorry for being negative again this week I hope next week Anna sings a beautiful ballad about her character motivation so I can stop beating this dead horse
