Tonino Raić and Tina Smoljo are a young couple from Split, Croatia. Both of them are twenty two years of age.
On the evening of Saturday, November 5, 2022, Tonino, Tina, their female puppy and a friend named Paško started their journey to Rotterdam in Tonino's black BMW.
Pre-pandemic, Tonino was offered a better position by the company he works for, but the only catch was that the job offer would mean he would have to move from Croatia to the Netherlands.
Due to world events, his move was delayed and would be taking place on the week of their disappearance. Tina and him decided she would move there with him and look for a job for herself once they settle in their new surroundings.
The last known official sighting of them happened on the border between Croatia and Slovenia, which they successfully traveled through. This information is confirmed by their scanned documents at the border toll booths, meaning they passed the border legally.
After that, they kept in touch with their families until 05:26am on Monday, November 7, 2022. Tonino sent the last message to his family at that time, telling them he would be getting back to them as soon as he changed the SIM card on his phone.
From that moment on, there's been radio silence from all parties involved. There has been no phone activity, no social media activity, no bank nor card activity. Their devices are shut off.
The families of Tonino and Tina grew increasingly worried after being unable to reach them. It's worthy of note that Tina's family members were the first to report her missing, and the date of her disappearance is stated as November 6, while Tonino's disappearance date was listed as November 7.
When Tonino's parents went to report his disappearance to the police, they found out one shocking information - in the car with them on the Slovenian border was an alleged friend, Paško.
If you're wondering why that is shocking - nobody knew Paško would be traveling with them. Neither their friends, nor their families. In fact, no one in their lives even knows the last name of the man traveling with them. The only thing that is known is that he lives in Solin.
He hasn't been reported missing by his family, though officers know his identity (because all three of them were scanned together at the border) and are looking into the situation. As far as we know, all three of them are missing together.
What worried the families especially is that Tonino is a bit of a tech guy so exchanging his phone's SIM card wouldn't have been a problem to him, and presumably either one of the three of them would've found a way to contact their loved ones by now, as the couple at least said they would.
Before the trip, Tonino arranged to visit a cousin who lives in Germany while they were on their way to the Netherlands, but the cousin was left waiting and the visit never happened.
German police forces haven't reported a single traffic accident in which a BMW car with Split registration was involved in, and none of the three missing people have been reported as arrested, either.
Allegedly, but this is still unconfirmed, before their disappearance they were seen at a toll booth in Austria, after which they haven't been seen since.
Croatian police and Interpol are all looking for them and coordinating the search together.
Tonino Raić is 175-180 cm tall, with brown hair and brown eyes and is of medium body build. He was dressed in a white-and-red shirt and black sweatpants the last time he was seen.
Tina Smoljo is 165 cm tall and despite her document photos showing her hair color as brown, as recent as late this summer she sported a dyed blonde look, and since it hasn't been reported what hair color she had at the time of her disappearance, she could've had either.
Apologies that this is so long, but three young people from my country have been missing since November 7, 2022 and I felt compelled to write this because there aren't enough sources in English for people in other European countries to read, and we don't know where exactly they've disappeared from but it could be Slovenia, Germany, Austria or the Netherlands so I feel it's important to get the story out there.
