+ bonus buck 𖹭
season nine of nine one one on abc my best friend. you are amazing. you go to space and you let buck grow into himself and you let eddie heal from past traumas. you let athena deal with her grief and find a way forward and learn to be okay with her children growing up. hen and karen get to have a plot that doesn't involve their kids getting taken away and chimney is dealing with his own guilt and imposter syndrome. maddie backing up her husband and supporting her brother and being HAPPY with her family and the love of her life. so many callbacks and acknowledgment of the show's history and bringing up old shit to justify new shit. yay.
and even if we dont get buddie fucking nasty in the desert in a $20 motel we can sleep well with the knowledge that at least ryliver was fucking nasty in the desert in a much more boujee hotel god bless
When you look at me, what do you see? A woman? A black woman? A lesbian? Good. 'Cause I'm all of those things.
(inspiration)
im gonna say it, buddie dooming is so so valid and i understand being upset that buck and eddie haven't talked about the big things and they're not hanging out alone onscreen very much, and they've been separated now at work and they're not just "fitting together" like they used to. but people are closing on buddie? really? we have been waiting for eight years for their friendship dynamic to change into something else and we are upset because..... *checks notes* their dynamic is changing? it's not gonna look like their old friendship, it's going to get weird and awkward before it gets good. idk if they're pining or what but the current awkwardness is progress if you ask me...... which you didn't i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

just hitting me all over again how that comment from abuela - you're looking in the wrong place, what is love but a sign of gods presence - is soooooo family member who loves you and is waiting for you to accept yourself. like she said that and then she passed. mind if i cry here

long post incoming... i just think it's interesting that after 9x05 people doomed about eddie becoming catholic and feared what that might mean, when actually his faith journey - as it were - seems to be getting explored at the same time (at least in s7 and s8) as buck's journey to explore his sexuality and relationships. it's the timing for me
s7 starts, on abc, a new, arguably less homophobic network. the first ep we get after the opener is 7x04, which introduces bi buck who starts a relationship with a man. we then get eddie talking about his catholic guilt to buck and bobby one episode later, in 7x05, when he found out marisol used to be a nun (the guilt being linked to sex for eddie in the sense that he can't get it up for her, btw). while that is not about buck, as he doesn't know about buck's date until after the catholic guilt conversations, the storyline is being presented simultaneously
in 8x06 eddie goes to confession (somewhere across town, josh is listing out to buck what it looks like when you love someone btw - "are his concerns your concerns?" - which could mean nothing). then a few scenes later the priest (in a heavily queer coded moment btw) addresses eddie's guilt when he tells eddie he's punishing himself and he should stop doing so, that god has already forgiven him, and he should choose joy. eddie goes home, looks at himself in the mirror and sheds his "disguise," does something just for the joy of it, and opens the door (half-naked btw) to buck who has just been broken up with by his boyfriend. weird right
and like obv really only eddie knows what choosing joy means for himself in the long run, but even if it's not acknowledged as being sexuality related, i feel like whatever it is, we can at least agree his feelings about it have been shaped heavily by what he took from his religion growing up and i just find it interesting that they are telling those two stories at the same time
idk what it means for s9 buck yet but in 9x05, the first ep we get after the opener, eddie goes to church with his abuela (abuela, we love you, you will be dearly missed) and she tells him that he's looking for god in the wrong place. that love is a sign of god's presence. and yeah at one point in the ep it feels like the trauma is too hard to get past (when he encounters the exorcism patient), but the end of that episode shows him allowing the possibility in just a bit when he prays with pepa. being open-minded enough to not view it in black and white terms. "leaving room for the unknown," as eddie diaz himself would say
anyway i just think it's interesting
yes @notnowtobey !!

Bucks protein energy cookies and Eddie's protein root beer float. I just know these mfs have replaced something with cottage cheese that should never be replaced with cottage cheese.
