how to make ranking events less painful: make them come back, and everyone who already completed the suit + background is excluded from ranking again. also, announce them a bit earlier than normal events to give people more time to prepare, and maybe cap the amount of money any individual person is allowed to spend during the event week- iirc some people spent over 200$ and still couldn’t complete banshee momiji, so lets say a 200$ cap, maybe a little more. they’d still be crazy hard and the devs would still make money, but there’d be a shimmer of hope at least
