“C’mere!!” Tango exclaims, leaning over and trying to put his arms around Etho. There’s such a gap between them, that he flops over before he can properly hug him. “Oof…” Etho laughs a little, pulling him up and into a hug. He nuzzles Tango’s cheek, and Tango’s tail swings back and forth like a dog. Now, to his credit, it’s not Tango’s fault that Etho is so fluffy. And it surely couldn’t be his fault that he got so happy, cuddling and holding him like this. Who could blame him for that? So when Tango’s hair bursted into flames- as it often did, he couldn’t help it- he didn’t think to move away from his very furry partner. Instead, he nuzzled Etho harder, spreading his flames. Etho didn’t scream, he just started to flail about rolled onto the ground, taking Tango with him. It was only then that Tango realized his mistake. Trying to put himself out was one thing, but trying to put out someone else whilst still being in flames was another. Anything he did was about as useful as Etho’s flailing. There, on the floor moving every which way to stifle the flames, they looked like maggots on a plate of rotten food. If they weren’t actively on fire and burning alive, it might’ve been more funny. Just as Etho is sure his eyes are about to melt, there is a splash of water and suddenly his singed fur is sopping wet. Looking up, there stands a figure in armor holding a bucket. He is… not very happy looking. “Again?” Wels says, looking down at them. “This is a little ridiculous…” He kneels down, setting the bucket off to his side. “Do you two need a lesson in basic fire safety?” At that, Tango shoots up, also sopping wet now. “No!! No we don’t!” Tango assures. “I just got, uh… a little excited.” He smiles and nods. Etho gives a thumbs up from the ground, agreeing with him. “Uhm… would you happen to have any towels, though?” * * * It is luckily a very sunny day out. Tango insisted on drying outside, wanting to stay warm. He had gotten a towel for Etho, although he seemed to be having trouble with it… his claws, Tango saw. His claws were getting caught on the towel. He offered to help, but what he ended up with was Etho being wrapped in a towel like a burrito. Tango claims it wasn’t purposeful, but he can tell no one believes that. He taunts Etho from afar as Wels helps him come undone from his towel cocoon. Etho’s idea of retaliation came in the form of getting right next to Tango and then shaking like a dog, letting the water in his fur fly everywhere. Idiots, Wels thought, watching them. He didn’t intervene this time, though. Maybe he would be free of these shenanigans if he didn’t participate in them. Of course, though, no one can escape the fierce grip of a group hug. Etho and Tango basically tackled him to the ground. Ah, right, they wouldn’t leave him out of anything.
Welstektho fans help omg. My writing motivation is terrible... 😭 also ive been busy- i probably shouldn't be trying to write/draw this late but man...

Most of the time Wels really enjoys listening to Etho and Tango talk about the Life series. He doesn't really know, though. He doesn't know what happens. They don't know what happens to him when he disappears every season. He doesn't know what happens in that wretched server. Wels has heard them argue before. They're so serious about it, it hurts him a little. Moreso the fact that he doesn't know anything. He's in the dark about whatever conflict happens, or any way to remedy it. They never want to talk about the conflicts, only the softer and happier things that've happened. Perhaps it's personal. He doesn't know, after all. The other hermits don't speak of it. Maybe he shouldn't be so intrusive, but he just sees them hurting over it, and he feels inclined to help. He's sure he could, if he just knew more. At the end of the day, though, he still loved them... It wasn't something he wanted to admit. But just as they had things they wouldn't tell him, Wels was also leaving some things unspoken. But within that silence, there lay a comfortable relationship drenched in ignorance. He could ignore it. They could ignore it.
chat am i doing this blog right... i never have run like. any blog before ever! or anything, for that matter. and for such a rarepair, no less... are y'all enjoying the posts here?
Etho doesn't have any energy today. He can't figure out why, really. Tango is curled up beside him as he lays in bed, probably just as drained as Etho. But he was working all day yesterday, and all night, too, if he had to guess. But Etho hadn't stayed up at all, in fact he went to bed early. He had the longest sleep he's had in awhile, actually. But he still feels tired and doesn't want to get out of bed. His excuse for now is that Tango is very warm and if he got up he might wake him up on accident. And he couldn't have that, could he?
A scent catches his nose, though, and it tries to lure him out of bed. It smells so good; someone's making breakfast, aren't they? Etho thinks he's right about that. While him and Tango and cuddled up in bed, Wels is nowhere to be seen. The smell alone is nearly enough to make him get up, but all he manages is to hang his arms over the edge of the bed. He puts his head down in defeat. Damn, and now he wasn't cuddling with Tango anymore because he moved. Worst decision ever, possibly.
"Huh. What's wrong?" Etho hears Wels ask. He doesn't bother looking up at him.
Etho just huffs in response. "Ah. A day like that? I get it." Wels sits down beside him, laughing a bit under his breath. "Did you stay up with Tango? I'm pretty sure he saw the sunrise before he saw his bed last night." Etho shakes his head. "No... I went to bed early. But I'm still so tired." He finally decides to sit up, and quickly finds himself leaning against Wels. "You're gonna have to bring me whatever you're making here so I can eat in bed," he says, lightly scratching at Wels' arm. "No, I think you need to get up." Etho groans in response to this. If he gets up he will fall over and die, and it will be a painful slow death. And it'd all be Wels' fault for making him get up. Wels would never recover. Wels nudges him a bit so he'll stop leaning on him, but Etho just flops over. Right onto Tango, but he doesn't notice. "I can't. I don't think more rest will fix me but I need to stay in bed." Or maybe a full 24 hours would fix him! He does have a lot of sleep he missed out on in the past, after all. Wels sighs and shakes his head. He looks at Etho, and Etho sees something. An understanding look. A (perhaps?) disappointing look. "No convincing you then, huh? I suppose it won't matter much if you force it. Well then," He sits up straight, then stands up. "I better get you your breakfast." With that, he's disappeared into the other room before Etho can respond. The smell of the food still entices him still, but he stays in bed. He feels a little more content about it now.
Wels and Etho have both seen a lot in their time, on Hermitcraft or otherwise, but nothing prepares them for the mindboggling display that Tango has just put on. Being clumsy or unlucky was one thing, but this redstoner seemed to be a whole other. He tripped, dropped what he was holding, and said thing knocked something else over, landing on top of him. He groaned, leaning on something as he pulled himself up. It was a button, and putting his weight on it he pushed it, setting off some contraption. (Shouldn't he know? Didn't he build all of these things?) He frantically tried to shut it off, turning every which way and somehow managing to get his fingers caught in every piston he put them in front of. It was at this point that Etho considered helping him, but Wels put a hand on his shoulder and he started to move. He shook his head. Well, no one can say that Etho didn't try.
This was like a death loop, now, just minus the death part. A pain loop, then? Whatever it was, Wels found it quite amusing. Etho could see him holding back laughter. When Tango finally made it out, crawling slowly to them, maybe crying a little, that was when they decided to help him up. "Eh, you'll be fine," Etho tells him, patting his head a few times. Tango dips his head in silence.
It is quite early, and the sun's still coming up. Of course, Wels is awake, and he quickly wanders outside as he realizes that it's snowed overnight. He couldn't say how deep it was, but it didn't seem very light. Some part of his mind told him that if he stepped one foot into it, his armour would weigh him down and make his whole body fall through (as much of a cartoonish thought, that was.) Still, he kept his distance from it.
Wels thinks he was the only one outside, and up for that matter, but he spots Etho out in the snow. He's running around and jumping, sometimes on all fours, kicking up snow in the air. Wels doesn't think he sees Etho this energetic unless he's having a dangerous encounter... but it looks like he's just playing, right now. Maybe this is a fox thing? Etho runs in a circle a few times, before jumping headfirst into the snow. Suddenly his upper half is submerged, and Wels almost feels inclined to help, but Etho's back legs start to kick and his body wiggles.
He was slowly bringing himself back up, and when his head emerges from the snow Wels sees that there's something in his mouth- a Tango! The back of his jacket is in Etho's mouth, and he lifts him until his arms are free from the snow. He swats at Tango with his paws, until Tango swats back, despite not having paws. They start to laugh and talk about something, but Wels is too far away to hear. The knight is a bit bewildered, actually. How long had Tango been buried there? And why was he buried in the first place? As he ponders this, Etho runs circles around Tango and eventually Tango manages to get all the way out, and he starts to chase Etho.
Wels wishes to join them, but he knows he could not do all of that with his armour on. By the time he takes it off and changes into more appropriate attire, he can't see Etho or Tango out in the snow. Cautiously, he steps out into it, looking around. He should've known, really, but it was too late by the time the two were dragging him down into the snow from under. He yelped, but to no avail.
Well, snow cuddles, that was a first... maybe that'll keep the frostbite away.
You came for me?
Tango almost wants to gag at the amount of blood. Etho is more quiet, but Tango can tell he's panicking just as much as he is. They both try to lift Wels up, avoiding prying on his wounds as much as they can. His armour is weighing him down, but they can't just drag him across the grass, they needed to get him to safety.
"Didn't we tell him not to go out and do this?" Etho says, putting Wels' arm around his shoulder, while Tango does the same with his other arm.
"He's stubborn. So stubborn and stupid and-" He feels Etho's tail brush against his back. "He might be gone." Realistically, Wels had suffered from this kind of injury before, and recovered just fine. But Tango wasn't thinking realistically or practically, he's thinking about the state they found Wels in.
He always had a knack for getting into precarious situations, whether intentional or not. Etho thought it was the former, this time, but he doesn't mention it. As he said, they'd always try to discourage Wels, but he had a will like no other, it seemed. Tango might've been right, on that front. Maybe he was stupid. But stupid didn't mean unlovable, as much as Wels would probably like to believe.
He would be fine, physically. And Tango whispered that, "you'll be fine," "you'll be okay," many times over to him. Reassurances that were more for himself than Wels. Etho is glad for it, anyways, he thinks he needed it too. It wasn't looking good; burn marks, bruises, cuts, a gash. Tango closed his eyes every time he turned to say something to him, he doesn't want to see the damage done, though scars suggest that it's happened more than once in the past. He was a knight after all (Etho isn't sure that they're all earned from fierce battles, but he doesn't mention it.)
When they get somewhere free of all dangers, they sit Wels down and try to take off his armour. He stirs a little, much to Tango's delight. Neither of them really know how to deal with armour like Wels', so they enlist some help from the other hermits. By then, he's not looking so bloody, as Etho had cleaned up the wounds that were accessible with his armour still on. It's dented, in some places, which makes Etho wonder more about what happened.
If Wels is awake, at any point, he does not respond to reassurances, sweet nothings, Etho and Tango shaking him, not a thing; perhaps is he ashamed to answer their concerns. He didn't think he needed help, much less for it to arrive. The words he wanted to say lay on the edge of his tongue, though ultimately left unsaid. (You came for me?)

Tango isn't sure how long it's been since he started working tonight. He can see it's dark out, but that isn't very telling. Etho and Wels had insisted on staying with him while he worked, but they had left at some point. When Tango finds finds them, they're curled up with each other, Etho's tail wrapped around Wels' body, and the knight's arms wrapped around Etho. Tango chuckled, getting down and nestling himself between the two of them. It was a bit of a tight fit- but more snug, in Tango's opinion. He laughed a bit as Etho's tail brushed his face, and he closed his eyes.
