Au where Siffrin is Snufkin & Moomin's kid:
Snufkin & Moomin left Siffrin (at that point named... *looks up Swedish word for star* Stjärna!) and his siblings with Moominmama (who is Moomingrandmama at that point) while they go on what should have been a short adventure.
They come back over a decade later (after finally breaking the memory curse Some Guy cast on the island to make the world forget about everything relating to moominvalley & it's populous) to find Moominmama panicking because one of the children went missing and she only just now remembered it.
The whole valley gets involved and soon people far & wide know that the famed Moomintroll & Snufkin have a missing child.
On the other side of things: Siffrin has always been... different from other people.
It's not just the accent, or the traditions they follow that no one else seems to know.
They also have physical differences. Like, you know, a tail. and fuzzy ears.
He looks almost human, but beyond the obvious there's always little differences: They have longer nails than normal, sharper teeth, and their white hair is really more like fur with how thick it grows in.
there are some folks running around with similar appearances, but none that look exactly like him. No one seems to know what they used to be called, either, so they tend to just default to "probably humans that got bodycraft adjustments"
Siffrin knows that's wrong but can't for the life of them explain why.
Or at least, they couldn't until the barrier in their mind seemed to shatter, bringing back memories of that terrible night, when he became so upset by his grandmother trying to make him eat his vegetables that they ran off to join their fathers on an adventure instead only to-
well. Only to lose any memory of what he was doing in the first place.
So now the party has a new goal: Reunite Siffrin with their parents & learn about all the things that got wiped from their collective memories along the way!
Shenanigans & multiple near-reunions ensue
