My name is Whitney White . Yes, wife to the White Rabbit. Your opinion on the past is irrelevant. The past is a reminder to learn from mistakes. Live in the moment, and prepare for your future. Be thankful for your dreams. Active member of Beyond Alice. Come join the madness.
Alyse’s thoughts were not of the moment. Her mind was lost on a twisted pathway of the past two years with Merce. She had loved him- of course she had… but over the years… well things had just… dwindled. He’d helped her grow, that was for certain. She knew now what love felt like. But … She felt lonely. She’d lived with Merce for so long. She’d gotten used to having him around.
When Whitney’s hand touched her shoulder, Alyse’s eyes immediately left the window and flickered to her mother. A brief moment of panic before she realized it was just her mother. Then her senses refocused. And she got a whiff of the soup. Some gratefulness in her mind for it being vegetarian. “Thank you.”
A pause before she looked up at Whitney again from the bowl of soup. “Do you think I did the right thing?”
It was to be expected that Alyse would be lost in thought, it would be rude and cold to assume anyone would process moving out and on from an old love quickly. Whitney would be devastated. With that in mind, she gave the younger rabbit a soft smile as her gaze broke and trained to the older woman. With a hum, she acknowledged the gratitude before sitting on the arm to the chair hosting Alyse.
Gently, her long fingers combed through her daughter’s soft dark curls briefly before rubbing the middle of her back. “Yes, Alyse. You did the right thing.” Her brow stitched together in concern. “I can not see how staying in a relationship when you’re not happy benefits anyone. You deserve to be accepted, loved, and encouraged to grow. As does Merce. And if one person’s heart isn’t in it...” she sighed under her breath, the corners of her mouth dragging into a frown, “then it’s time to move on. I know you still care for him, but you gave him a chance to move on. And that is something you need, too.” Leaning over, she pressed a tender kiss into the crown of the girl’s head. “You can’t force love.”
Wallace was beyond tired, and after a long day, he just wanted to sleep, praying that his home would be empty by the time he got there. At first he didn’t see her, especially since he didn’t want to see anyone really, but her words had him looking up from his briefcase as he set it down on the couch. Wally looked up at her with a sigh. “No, I… I just got in,” he stuttered, unsure if she wanted anything from him. That’s what everyone seemed to want these days, something. It was only natural that his wife of all people probably wanted him to do her some kind of favor as well, even if it had been forever since they really communicated with something other than idle conversation.
“Oh,” Whitney breathed out her response before her eyes went to the briefcase. What was he up to now? She didn’t suspect anything bad, Wallace wasn’t capable of evil. She was just curious. Slightly shaking her head out of thought, her body moved back over to the stove. “Do you want some soup?” It seemed to be the only form of food she had energy to produce. “It’s the, uh, cheesy broccoli potato one.” Tapping the burner switch, she watched as the flame danced under the soup pot.
As Whitney cooked, she kept some of her attention on Alyse, sitting too still in the living room and offering no sound other than slow breaths. She frowned as she stirred the soup, imagining positive thoughts and love pouring into the simmering dinner. It wasn’t anything special, nor was it exactly a favorite but it would offer some comfort. At least that was Whitney’s goal. There was no greater pain than to feel unwanted or unloved.
Whit expertly carried two bowls of the tomato broth and veggie creation into the living room and tried to offer Alyse a small smile. “Honey?” she tried to gain Alyse’s attention as she approached. Without a response, Whitney placed the soup down on the closest sturdy surface to Alyse and gently placed her hand on the young’s shoulder. “Alyse?”
Whitney subconsciously rubbed one of her arms as she stared out of the window over the kitchen sink, growing as one with the stillness of the house. She couldn’t help but to be mentally pulled into the war -- the current stillness and what could come of their livelihood. Breaking out of a thought, she grabbed her mug of tea and turned around to travel over to the table across the room. As she looked up, her attention caught on her husband, her breath in her throat. It had been months since they were the only ones home. Conveniently, there was always a kit around to distract one of the parents. “Are you headed out?” These days, she didn’t know his schedule and although it killed her, she didn’t know how to approach conversation aside from dinner talk. Who were they now?
Keeping your engagement and subsequent marriage from your parents was not a good way to keep them happy. Cilla had some massive explaining to do. Starting with Whitney. She was kind of sort of terrified of how Whitney was going to react. That’s why she asked her mother to lunch. In a public place. With people around. All in the small hope that it would keep Whitney from brutally murdering her.
Cilla had arrived early, pre-ordered her mother’s favorite drink, and tried to pretend like she wasn’t about to inform her mother she’d missed her daughter’s wedding. She at least appeared to be ready when her mother entered the restaurant. She hopped up from her chair and huged Whitney before they settled at the table, “I’m glad we’re getting to do this,” She said, “How was work today?”

To say Whitney was looking forward to lunch with her daughter would be an understatement. While she preached free will, freedom of expression, and speaking up for yourself and others, she was terrified of her family being in harm’s way. It was hard to shake the fear. Despite the years that had passed. A chance for her to catch up with her ever adventurous and excitable kit made her heart swell. Especially since it was Cilla who arranged their lunch.
True to her nature, the mother rabbit arrived without a moment to spare and smoothed her coat before walking into the restaurant. A bright smile glowed as she watched Cil stand to greet her. Sweeping her child into a big hug, she kissed the girl’s golden hair out of reflex before pulling away and looking at her beautiful girl. “I am, too. You’re good at keeping yourself busy and distant from home.” To the question, Whit drew in a breath and nodded before verbally replying. “Good. The lines were quiet but a lot of us are busy bodies so it wasn’t all too quiet in the room. How are you, my dear? You’re...safe, right? We worry especially with this outbreak that just passed.”
When Bella heard news about an illness that began near the sea and started its way to land, she was immediately worried. It seemed like there were countless theories as to who started it and who it infected. All of it made Bella a worried mess and because of it, she had been hiding out at her shop for days, doing her best to figure out what was going on.
Because she had a business to run, though, she kept her shop open for its normal hours. Today she was tending to her gardens when she heard the distinct ringing of the door’s bell. Looking up from her work, she merely eyed the person who had entered and meekly said “Hello, what can I help you with today?”
She had only been in a couple of times, but Whitney enjoyed the serenity and the feeling of health and life around her when she walked into the flower shop. A smile curled up in place of her half scowl as the slight aromas grew stronger. She closed her eyes and sighed, brought back to memories of hopping around in her other form when she was little and running flower bush to bush.
Slowly opening her eyes, she turned her head to greet the owner. “Hello,” she chimed with warmth in her voice. “I was wandering about and thought I’d pop in. What’s the strongest bloom this week? I’m kind of looking for a new potted plant for the dining room.”
Does your character prefer the Moon, the Sun, or the Stars? Why?
Whitney finds beauty in each of the listed beauties but especially loves the stars. Even now as a grown woman and old mother, she will lay out under the night sky and stare up at the stars. It helps ground herself and ease her worries about the future. Her life is precious but is small in comparison to the worlds around Wonderland.

I've been hearing symphonies
Before all I heard was silence
A rhapsody for you and me
And every melody is timeless
Life was stringing me along
Then you came and you cut me loose
Was solo singing on my own
Now I can't find the key without you
And now your song is on repeat
And I'm dancin' on to your heartbeat
And when you're gone, I feel incomplete
So if you want the truth
I just wanna be part of your symphony
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Symphony
Like a love song on the radio
Will you hold me tight and not let go?
Whitney refuses to give up her and Wallace’s love, even if may mentally destroy her to be ignored or to continue to grow distant from him. She misses how they use to be but refuses to see how she could ever be in the wrong. It’s on his shoulders to make things better.
If they lived in our world, what would be your character’s favorite movie of all time? And why?
It would be difficult for Whitney to pin point exactly one movie that was her all time favorite. She is a firm believer of finding good things in multiple, random, collections. Her favorite genre would be romantic comedies with a strong leaning towards 13 Going on 30. She adores unconventional love stories and going against any and all stereotypes. Watching this movie would remind her of how much she use to depend on Wallace and how his presences would comfort her through any anxieties or worries before the kits were born. Wallace still has her full heart, and she hopes they reach a level where they can open up to each other.
Look up the meaning of your character’s first name and tell me how you think that relates to them.
The name Whitney means white island. Islands tend to be secluded and give wanderers a heightened curiosity. Whitney White is protective of her family yet appears nice to the public and to strangers. However she has her skills that make her life sustainable and allow her loved ones to thrive. She sees herself as home to her children, now and forever. She will continue to clothe them, feed them, and offer shelter until her dying day. With many resources and bright energy, I think Whitney is very much an island of safety for her children and husband.
If they somehow stumbled into our world, what piece of technology or culture would most freak out your character? And what would they find the most interesting?
Whitney would be confused by the nature of fast dating that is associated with dating apps: Tinder, OkCupid, etc. Especially if she were to learn that the concept most people take in participating in the apps is a fast hookup. She doesn’t have anything against people having multiple lovers. It seems messy and cold to do most of the conversation and potential ‘relationship’ building part to their could-be future to talking online and through a phone screen. There is an art to meeting and fighting for love and these apps, in her mind, would destroy that nature.
Cell phones and the heavy dependence on instant messaging would probably be the most exciting revelation in Whitney’s mind. To instantly know how her children were doing, where they were, and if they needed money or support from their mother would be a blessing and a curse -- sadly. Mostly, it would allow Whitney to breathe easier in knowing that her kits were okay and let her fear of them hiding dangerous acts from diminish. (Let’s hope she never finds out about the apps that allow a parent to quietly track their children’s movements and texting history.)
Eden’s brow arched at the following questions. “Well, you would make quite the interrogator,” she stated as a bit of a compliment. “I believe some… No, he does much more… and yes, I am.”
“Oh,” her brows twitched up before her face softened as she laughed. She didn’t believe the other meant anything rude by the comment, it was an old habit developed many moons ago when her children started walking and exploring things that should have gone untouched at young ages. “His shop sounds very intriguing. My apologies though if you feel this is an interrogation.”
“Who says that’s not beautiful?” Alyse said rather simply, gently tilting her head to the side in curiosity. Whitney was everything Alyse wanted to be. She was strong, she was beautiful, she was the rock to this family and without her… well, who knew what would have happened. “Yes… I mean, I think so.” She gave a slight smile before she was gently dragged off towards the kitchen. “Okay.” She nodded and followed her mother, anxious to tell her but now she was nervous so she didn’t spill quite yet. Following her mother into the familiar kitchen she glanced around. Wondering if one day she’d have children of her own- children to bring over and let play in her old room while she and her mother had tea and talked. Or perhaps Whitney would come visit them, to make memories in the house she and Merce lived in. She liked all the thoughts running through her mind. Almost all of which were surrounded by maybes and perhaps some day type phrases, but they were there none the less.
Whitney smiled softly to her daughter. Oh, how she loved her children and the open minds they developed along in their adolescence. Especially Alyse, who always tried to find the best out of situations and never gave up on what she wanted in life. For that reason alone, she had to respect Merce and his and Alyse’s shared life. Since it was just her and Alyse dinning tonight, Whit set up two bowls and plates at the small table in the kitchen, not caring to exhaust herself further by setting the dinning room. Plus, it desperately needed a cleaning before the next family dinner. In the center of the table sat the house salad prepped an hour ago. “Go ahead and sit,” she nodded to the chairs as she walked to the hot dish and carried it over. Using a wooden spoon, Whitney scooped a generous heap into Alyse’s bowl then into her own. “Like we never eat enough veggies,” she smirked before dumping a mountain of salad on to her own plate. Sitting down, she sighed and glanced to Alyse. “How is Merce by the way? Your father and I were wondering how he was given...the update in monarchy rule.”
“I’m doing great!” She replied, as she also took a bite of her own burger. “They actually used to be my favorite snack when I was kid.” Realizing that she was talking with a mouth full of food, she finished chewing before she continued speaking. “I always begged my parents to bring me here on my birthday, and it was mostly for the potatoes. But how about you, how are you doing? And the kids?”
Whitney’s face reflected her heart’s swelling at the thought of a sweet and excited Imogen getting all the french fries she wanted. She grinned then took a bite out of her sandwich, trying to keep herself on task of finishing lunch but not being rude to her coworker. “Getting by, trying to think positively about the road ahead. Oh, they’re well! Alyse is still at the library and loves it. Cilla seems to be keeping herself out of the crime light,” she chuckled, “and Alistair is, well, Alistair.” She added with a bite into a fry.
Upon hearing her mother’s voice, Cilla’s head popped up to flash Whitney a smile. The surprise was welcome, especially with everything going on. Hiding everything from her family while balancing the News Paper was a full-time job. And she felt horribly guilty avoiding them as much as she had been.
She was happy to see her mother, but was also exceedingly glad her black eye had healed and her split lip was nothing more than a little pink scar. She maybe able to lie to Alistair, but her mother was a different story. Cilla always took after Whitney, the fiery personality and rebellious nature wasmamarabbit’s first, and hiding her bad decisions was always more difficult under her mother’s watchful eye.
The blonde hopped up from her desk, making her way around it before giving her mother a long overdue hug. Cilla may look like Wallace, but she was always closer to her mother and some things would never change. “You and food are always welcome here,” Cilla said, take the food out of her mother’s hands, placing the bag on her desk.
Whitney grinned to herself as Cilla initiated the hug. She wasn’t ashamed to hug her children nor did she mind embarrassing them, but to see one of them so quick to embrace her was heart warming. She wrapped her arms around Cilla and kissed her temple. An old habit that would never be broken, no matter how old they all grew.
“Well I certainly hope so. Just wasn’t sure how busy this work was keeping you.” Whit glanced down at the desk, her brow slowly raising. “Seems like you have quite a few projects in the works. Anything exciting?” She wiggled her brow and smirked playfully.
“Oh, it’s nothing horrifying,” she corrected herself when she realized how vague and interpretive her statement had been. “But it’s like nothing else I’ve had before. He certainly knows how to keep your tastebuds on their toes.”
Whitney munched on her fries with a calm smile on her face. She nodded right before starting the last two of her fries. After finishing them, she wiped her fingers on her napkin. “Does he do baked good as well? Or are soups and stews and such the base of his work? Are you a regular customer?”
