Germanic languages, using a word: pathetic

Baltic-Finnic languages: nah, the word means adorable and loved now

I was actually thinking that, OK, there's two identical-looking words in Estonian, one means scar and the other is a shortened poetic form of love, so one of them must be a loanword, and it's the love one. Turns out both come from proto-Germanic roots. Except all the languages are pretty unanimous when it comes to the scar word.

I wouldn't call arm (genitive armu, partitive armu; noun 'love') and arm (genitive armi, partitive armi; noun 'scar') identical per se since they have different cases, but we have this cultural connection that love is something that leaves scars because of that similarity. Like I've heard the saying "Vana arm ei roosteta" used for both someone returning to their ex and also about old injury aching 😆
