“I am so– fucking stoned right now.” Jordan could tell she was grinning stupidly, but felt too good to care. “You know, I just feel super inspired. And hungry. Wanna split a– I dunno, a Chili’s Molten Chocolate cake? You know, if I could be like this all the time, I bet a ton of people would want to date me. –Sorry, I’m really high.”

Wesley couldn’t help but laugh as the woman spoke to him. She was high and he found it amusing; he never had to deal with many high folks. As soon as she mentioned the Molten cake, his eyes lit up and he nodded furiously. “Holy shit, yes. I love their Molten Chocolate cake, it’s so fucking good!”

“Oh well that is quite chevalevresque of you to say…” she said with a soft little laugh, blushing a bit again. She wasn’t accustomed to how American men always seemed to like Disney princes, like they were Prince Charming. Always offering to defend and protect like they were heroes. It was kind of endearing in a way. “Oh..magnifique, I am very glad to have found you. I would be wandering all by myself if I had not.” Perhaps he was like a Prince Charming in that way, saving her from wandering alone.

“It just doesn’t make sense for anyone to give another person shit for struggling with a language. Languages aren’t easy to learn, I’ve tried to learn some and it’s extremely hard. So when people are angry about it, it upsets me.” He explained, blushing slightly. Wesley never was good with languages, he’d tried so hard to learn the ones that interested him, like Italian and even Japanese. “That wouldn’t be good. New York can be dangerous, I’d hate for anything to happen to you.” He didn’t like thinking about things that could happen on the street, but sometimes he couldn’t help it.

“Oh really? Merci!” She beamed happily, glad that he understood her and that he could help her get home. “Merci, Monsieur, I am still becoming accustomed to English. My parents..they are fier d'être français..” she laughed a little, then she translated back to English for him, “very proud Frenchmen..so they do not speak English at home, and I only began learning when I was in secondary school and I did not practice much..”

Wesley knew some words in French, so he was glad he knew the very basic thank you and French in the language. It was a little odd to hear more French come out of her mouth than English, but he wasn’t going to say anything about it, she was still learning and there was no reason to be mean to someone who was still learning. “That’s perfectly fine. Learning is a process, so again, don’t worry about it. If anyone gives you shit about it, I’ll kick their ass.” Wes chuckled, gesturing in the diection of the Blackwood. “We can get to the complex this way.”

“Well I live in an apartment complex called the Blackwood, it is in ah..Austria, non I mean Astoria, I think…” she fumbled over her words awkwardly, blushing a bit as her accent made her sentence sound even more confusing. “Pardon moi..I apologize if that was confusing.”

Wes kept his smile up and patiently listened. It was clear that the girl wasn’t from here, and if her English wasn’t the best, that was alright. “I live there as well, so I can help you get back there, miss.” He nodded once more. “No, not at all, I understand that other languages can be difficult, but don’t worry about it,” Wesley assured her, being as polite as he could be.

Natalie didn’t really know what she was doing, wandering the city this late at night after her rehearsal, but she just found everything so beautiful at night, especially in winter. Of course it wasn’t the same as Paris, but the lights were still lovely. But now she was lost, and her phone was almost dead, and the time had just slipped away. “Um..excusez-moi, I believe I am um..lost..” she took a moment to find the words, still having trouble going back and forth between French and English.

Wes loved taking walks at night. It was very relaxing, it tended to encourage him to contiue writing his songs, though sometimes it could be a little unnerving, which is why he jumped as soon as he heard the woman’s voice. Turning to see her, he smiled quickly. She looked harmless, though he knew he shouldn’t underestimate others. “Lost? I can help you with that.” Wesley nodded. “Where are trying to get to?”

“Thanks.” Cory adjusted  the bags in his hand. He eyed him up and down too, without shame. “I think I’ve got it.” He winked.

“It’s no problem.” He nodded. Wesley barely caught that the man looked him up and down, but it brought a bright red blush to his face. “I’d hate for you to drop your things,” He insisted.

Was he annoyed? Cory was more tired than anything. It felt like the holidays were creeping up on him, and now they were here, just attacking him with ugly shades of red, green, blue and gold. He was trying to grab bags of groceries from his car. “Hey, you.” He asked to a nearby person. “Can you close the door for me?” it needed to  be slammed, and he couldn’t just shut it without any hands.

Wesley wasn’t used to strangers calling to him like that. Especially not asking to shut their doors, not unless Wes was accidentally intruding, anyway. Looking up at the man, he saw that his hands were full of bags. “Uh...I guess?” He shrugged. The man could have just used his waist, but Wes didn’t want to be rude, so he shut the door for the man. “Do you want some help with that?”

“Uh, Star Wars is amazing, not weird. And french fries dipped in milkshakes isn’t weird at all, a lot of people actually like that, making it not weird. Same with Star Wars.”

“That’s true. Never been to many places too so my opinions are quite limited.” He said with a nod. “Oh no. No. I mean now. I wanna give surfing a try here so when should I do it? You think this evening is a good idea?”

“Most people can say that, though.” Wesley pointed out with a shrug. “Uh, yeah, the evening is a pretty good time to try. Fewer people tend to go to the beach in the evening because the water gets colder. Also, its colder up here, so fewer people will be surfing right now in general unless they really love surfing...But like I said, I don’t surf as much because I’m up here so I could be wrong.”

“The kids? You can’t be a day over 20. See that exact reaction is why I don’t do or say anything cheesy. I do know that. I am so amazing, that I can even make the worst people fall head over heels for me. Holes in evil plans are how villains get defeated.”

“I am a few months over the age of 20, but that’s all. But I’m an adult, so that phrase still works. Uh, but cheesy stuff is the best. That’s impressive, I don’t have that skill, unfortunately. Precisely, that’s why we need to plan and plan well.”

“I’ve only been to California once and it was only for bussiness matters. Though I did encounter a few incredibly rude patrons. I guess every place just has that slope filled with rude people.” He said with a shrug. “You surf? I wanted to do that yesterday but got caught up when the other passengers decided to crowd the beach. Maybe I’ll try later. When do you think is the best time to surf? I would rather not have myself jammed in the midst of people again.”

“It’s nice in certain places, but other places are...just the worst. But yeah, I guess you could say that about any place.” Wes shrugged back. “Not much, much less now that I live in New York. Yeah, it can get crowded prtty fast. It depends on where you are and the time of year, honestly.”
