Artist Spends 3 Years Hand-Painting the Quran in Gold on 164 Feet of Black Silk
The beauty of the written word is once again heralded in an incredible project by 33-year-old artist Tünzale Memmedzade. The Azerbaijani painter spent three years painstakingly transcribing the Quran onto sheets of transparent black silk. The result is a beautifully crafted religious text that demonstrates both devotion and patience.

“If money is the focus, you will find that no matter how much money you have, you will always fear losing it. This preoccupation is poverty itself. That is why the Prophet ﷺ says about such people that poverty is always in front of their eyes. That is all they see. No matter how much they have, there is no contentment, only greed for more and fear of loss.”
— Yasmin Mogahed
“Flowers were her natural allies, like trees, fruit and animals—everything that grows, sways in the wind, bites and hides. She was one of them, on their side.”
— Violet Trefusis, from Broderie Anglaise
لقلبي المليء بما هو مكتوب ، يا الله لا تعلق قلبي إلى غير المكتوب.
For my heart that is filled with what is written, O Allah, do not attach my heart to the unwritten.
