She's been safely delivered! Although Becky's cross country journey is done, I still have places to go around here and Becky will always find something to share from the west coast, so we may still be ~blogging it up~ over the summer. Neighbor Babes
The neighbors we had at the Bridalveil campground in Yosemite were absolute stars. On the first night in the park, our four neighbors, Andrew, Addy, John, and Joe, invited us into their campground to hang on their last night. They were hella cool: Addy gave us a tour of their crazy Jucy camping van, Andrew broke us into their liquor stash, and John and Joe showed us their favorite stargazing spot. For the first time on our trip, we managed to ~let loose~ aka staying up past midnight searching for shooting stars, sharing camping secrets, and drunkenly singing on a rock. Our Buddy Bond with John and Joe was so solid that it wasn’t even weird when they tried to kiss us, and we all went back to our neighbor Hoby’s campfire to make platonic s’mores. In the morning, Hoby’s camping crew and the Jucy camping crew all left. We were giant weenies and didn’t ask to exchange any contact information - a total bummer. The next neighbors, however, were just as delightful. We had a total friend crush on Alex, who greeted us with a “hello friends!” every time we returned from a hike. On our last night, we learned that we were the only weenies in Yosemite when again our neighbor had to be the one to strike up a campfire conversation. Alex invited us to share noodles and ghost stories, and we ended hanging real hard and talking late into the night. In the morning, Alex knocked us on our asses and earned a gold star in Showing Us How It’s Done by RUNNING after our truck as we were leaving to tell us how happy he was to meet us and grab phone numbers and now we are buds 4ever.
(Bonus!! Alex’s gesture inspired us to put a little work in so we could find our Jucy neighbs on Facebook and make everlasting internet friendships with them)

We stopped at Burger King for lunch earlier. Feel like giant baby slugs now. Will probably not be able to make it to Portland because we feel so Bad. Sorry Gabe.
Day 14: the kitten edition
The most important feature of Laurel’s kaleidoscope mosaic house is Momo, her new kitten. Momo is VERY cute and we couldn’t exactly handle it. He took a short nap nestled between our legs and then after a feisty 30 minutes of kitten play, he tucked up against my stomach to sleep the night through, sheltered between my and Becky’s bodies. We are In Love with Momo.
Day 14 - Arcata, CA
We spent our last night on the road in Laurel Skye's home & studio!! Laurel and her daughter Marley are both mosaic artists who live in a treasure house. Every piece of this house is a work of art.
WE ARE IN OREGON
At Ananda Village I met Sundara, who is the protege/partner of Joseph Cornell - my environmental education IDOL. Sundara toured us around the community's spiritual garden, made us iced lattes with milk from a cow that he milked himself, regaled us with stories about Joseph Cornell, and invited me back in September for a 5 day workshop/retreat to train with both of them in their educational philosophy I am dEAD I AM ALIVE FOREVER
Made it to the Pacific Ocean! Portland's just 335 miles away.
Day 13
After Yosemite, we stayed a night in Ananda Village - an intentional community in Nevada City, CA. We were so grateful for delicious food, real beds, and good vibes.
All liberals point to Oregon, all of you. Like Monarch Butterfly, you are capable to head to Portland without GPS, without maps. without ever been there before. A great unsolved problem in biology that deserve much more attention than it has got.
UHH this is an observation inside a work of art. Who ARE you?? I hope we’re butterfly friends in real life!!

Mariposa Grove of the Giant Sequoias - Yosemite National Park, CA
Day 12
Yosemite Upper Falls - a 3.2 mile hike up a serious incline that kicked our asses until a dip in the gorgeous chain of pools at the top of the waterfall gave us the strength to head back down
Days 9-13
We returned to Yosemite after ten years apart and felt right at home. The valley took our breaths away, both when we looked at it and when we tried to hike in it. These four nights at Yosemite were the last nights we would spend camping in our teeny tent for the rest of the trip. Valerie made her first fire on the very last morning, the perfect end to our camping adventure. It’s all showers and kitchens after this!

Met up with Orion in LA!!! Good and grounding to reconnect with old friends while on a journey into the new.
