As Lexa said the words out loud over the phone, she barely recognized herself. It wasn't true but she said what she had to do for Clarke to move on. Clarke doesn't deserve someone as damaged as her. It's better for her to find someone else. Besides Lexa is with Costia now. No turning back. No second chances.
