i think we're at the point where games officially take too long to make
If you make a new console (Switch 2) and 99% of the games are remakes and remasters and ports for games already multiple years old and it's 9 months between Directs, i think the plot got lost somewhere and we need to go back shorter dev times for smaller faster games.
Porting a game from 2019 for your console, only a year old, i think there's an issue with a lack of games
anyway play more indie games support more indie devs etc
Okay maybe this is kinda the root of a feeling I’ve had lately about games. I have always been kinda picky about games, without any discernible rules. Maybe I like it maybe I don’t. So finding games to get sucked into is difficult. That’s fine.
But in the past several years (maybe since like 2018), I can think of really just a small handful of games that clicked for me. I’m not saying those are the only good games. I’m saying the frequency with which games are released is kinda dismal. Like whenever I find a really good game I have the smallest ping of sadness knowing it will be 2-3 years before I find another one.
Related complaint: I absolutely cannot stand the bullshit practice that studios have of teasing a game like 4 years before it is released. Fuck off Intergalactic. I’ve been looking forward to that game since it was announced two years ago. There is still not even a projected release date. How dare you garner the interest of players and drag them along for YEARS. I’ll give you maybe 1 year. An announcement… then a few months later a release date… then teasers leading up to the release. That’s fine. But how long has GTA6 been delayed? Fuck off!!!!
