Why we decided to go with Pillowfort.io

So, I figured it was worth making a post about WHY we went with Pillowfort.io instead of any of the other options. Here was why we passed on the more popular networks people are moving to:

Twitter: Although you can post Adult content on Twitter, you can’t search for it. You need to know specific account names. You MAY get lucky and stumble across something now and again, but searching on Twitter for Adult content is like Tumblr right now. A portion of your current followers may follow you there but getting new ones will be REALLY hard.

Reddit: I’m sure works, but I just personally just don’t like the format for this kind of thing so I didn’t look too far into it. I enjoy being able to browse through a dashboard style search and such.

WeMe: There seems to be a belief that this as a choice. Right at the top of their terms of service is this “You may not: Post unlawful, harmful, obscene, or pornographic content.” Pornographic content is content of a sexual nature intended to cause arousal… so they allow “artful” nudity, but nothing like what we and most of the other people in this community post. If your content is meant to turn people on, you can’t post it on WeMe. 

Instagram: Does not allow Adult Content.

Patreon: We do not sell premium access to content.

Pillowfort: Tumblr style dashboard. Tumblr style search (but it works better). Adult content allowed with easy flagging. Communities (think Facebook style groups). Proper re-blogging (re-blogs are linked to the original. Changes to the original effect all re-blogs. Deleting the original deletes all re-blogs). Easy to hide content and users you do not want to see (tag blacklist and account blocking). 

Pillowfort offers everything the others don’t. It is basically a better Tumblr. Yes it is still in Beta and is a bit slow for now, but it will be out in a few months. Yes it costs $5 to register right now, but that money will go towards making the platform even better and once it is released it is free. The $5 is a one time donation, not recurring.
