my first attempt at drawing him with a humanoid body instead of roblox one was pretty much a desperate attempt at something at least anyhow normal looking so obviously i am not showing that it was weeks ago and obviously i tried today again and this is what i came up withhhh
not perfect ofc but honestly it was such fun to like take a human skeleton and yet disfigure it here and there, add the animalistc parts in some places, because that is how i personally see pursuer
i was looking at his pictures when taking face reference and just kinda thought "how tf does he carry the sword on his back"
maybe the devs already explained it somewhere and i just didnt hear about that, maybe its just the games convention, maybe he stole some belts or holsters from a victim and carries it this way? but i wouldnt be myself if i wouldnt add a bit of torture to my design
i really thought about this. would pursuer irl be a humanoid with like human skeleton and allat and just a few mutations? or its like a complete animalistic species that just knows bipedal walking??? idk very hard question i dont know. but i think that their bones are super flexible since he is able to just like rearrange them without any internal damage to his organs or anything. and thus i thought that holy shit he can carry the sword in between his bent spine and maybe ribs well depending on position, on sketch its just like a concept rather than a finished polished idea. so yah thats my pursuer i love them very much sorry for the artful say gex joke lmao

FUN story about the first little sketch (271025) i was making it during a history lesson at college cuz the teacher is chill af and at some point he came to my desk and i hid the notebook i sketch in, i did it previously a few times already lol
and he asked me if he could look, i gave him the notebook and he said it looks nice I WAS SO EMBARRASSED he also asked about the f3x in devesto's hand and i just told him its a simple cube and he said ok a cube 😭 my goooddddd
but anyway i love these two but kinda dislike that you can get called overhyping and simpleminded just because you like well actually cool characters?? bro they DO deserve the popularity like absolutely all die of death characters do leave me alone i can like whoever i want as long as i dont bother others about it
i loved designing them tbh, for mequot the design was quite easy but he aint wearing only a sweater for me he also wears a trenchcoat and gloves like on 271025 all the time, so he and devesto match like coworkers. thats the reason i cropped my clothing reference of him cuz on paper it was incomplete
but hoho devesto... he made me sweatttt when thinking on what clothes to give him besides like adaptation of the roblox model. wont lie i took inspiration both from postal dude whom i dont really know im not into type of games hes from sorry :( and like the most popular devesto designs i could see really. i guess i am unoriginal because of that but i think whatever he is wearing actually fits him, especially like the trenchcoat i saw a lot of artists give him, and thats really only what matters to me
(another rambling: they arent confirmed to be bald. let artists give them hair without calling them slop or something worse. stop with the "12 year old artists when they get their hands on a bald character" meme, people will continue drawing characters in whatever the hell way they want, you will just waste both yours and their nerves by constantly bothering them about it. as for devquot - i think its cute, but canon always stands before fanon for me, so i dont take the ship as absolute truth everyone should believe in. my art of them can be both perceived as the ship or them as friends. again, if your ass is on fire just from seeing some random ship them, dont join fandoms. they dont have a mega close connection, yet they are still close to one another in professional way as minimum, and their dynamic is interesting, obviously people will ship them, its normal and god help me not forsakens fault like some say. i even saw a screenshot here on tumblr or something that as far as i remember the main dev literally doesnt care about the ship. you shouldnt either. but remember that if you meet some obsessed freak that will kill everyone who doesnt ship devquot, its not well problem of the ship, its problem of the person.)
