🐒 * FUSO'S INTRO
really sorry for the sudden disappearance! i haven’t logged in to tumblr for a while since i’ve been distracted by other things.. </3
i might start posting monkey identification again if i start being more active again but primate of the day will probably be coming to an early end unfortunately since i kept stressing over it :< i’m sure i’ll be able to make up for it eventually though!
heres an old photo my mum got years ago of a northern white cheeked gibbon at a zoo to make up for it :)
Today’s primate of the day is:
The Celebes Crested Macaque (Macaca nigra)!
Fun fact, this is the kind of monkey that took a selfie which had a whole copyright dispute over it!
Today’s primate of the day is:
The Hamadryas Baboon (Papio hamadryas)!
Fun fact, this baboon was considered sacred by ancient Egyptians! also my favourite baboon cough cough
Today’s primate of the day is:
The Black Capuchin (Sapajus nigritus)!
Fun fact, this is one of my favourite kinds of capuchins!
Today’s primate of the day is:
The Nepal Gray Langur (Semnopithecus schistaceus)!
Fun fact, the heaviest langur ever recorded was one of these!
Today’s primate of the day is:
The Geoffroy’s Tamarin (Saguinus geoffroyi)!
Fun fact, these tamarins were once considered a subspecies of the cotton-top tamarin!
Tamarins are fun because all of them have little freak faces that could look evil but instead they always look incredibly confused as to how the got out and about for the day
i. have never quite thought about it this way before but youre so right. what could possibly be vexing them

i know this blog is primarily just for identifying primates, but would any of you be interested in a primate of the day? trying to think of a way to keep my posting consistent and an excuse to show off my favourite primates daily ^.^
Cute monkey
This primate is a:
Goeldi's Marmoset (Callimico goeldii)!
Found primarily in: Peru
Ecuadorian Squirrel Monkey Saimiri cassiquiarensis macrodon
It is found in the western Brazilian Amazon, as well as Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. It had been considered a subspecies of the Guianan squirrel monkey, Saimiri sciureus, but was elevated to a full species, S. macrodon, based on a 2009 study. Based on subsequent genetic research it was reclassified as a subspecies of Humboldt's squirrel monkey

Gibbon catches a ride
This primate is an:
Agile Gibbon (Hylobates agilis)!
Found primarily in: Indonesia (Sumatra)
Correction!! It's a hoolock gibbon - not sure which kind, but agile gibbons sound different and if you look closely you can see visual differences as well!
ooh my bad!! i still kind of suck at telling apart agile and hoolock gibbons and i didnt hear the video with sound </3 thanks so much for the correction! :D
OP: At first I thought it was just a casual tourist experience (cr 呼噜)
These primates are:
Black-capped Squirrel Monkeys (Saimiri boliviensis)!
Found primarily in: Peru
My favorite genre of zoo photography is what I call ‘Pensive Primate’
These primates are:
A Coquerel's Sifaka (Propithecus coquereli), Ring-tailed Lemurs (Lemur catta), a Golden-headed Lion Tamarin (Leontopithecus chrysomelas) and Northern White-cheeked Gibbons (Nomascus leucogenys)!
Found primarily in: Madagascar (Sifaka + Ring-tails), Brazil and Laos
