Poppin iLL's debut battle in Boston!!!

Poppin ILL will debut his first battle in Boston at THE WARMUP: SDFDE 2 Pre-Jam Fundraiser this weekend representing What The Funk?! Crew to the fullest!!!

Since other crew members can not be there to support his back, we want to dedicate this post for good luck and show that we will be there with him in spirit.

MY DANCE HISTORY

I began dancing around summer of 2006 in Japan. 

I was into gymnastics at the time but seeing some high school kids breaking on stage changed my interest right away.

I danced everyday. I loved it and got addicted to it easily. 

Despite my level of dance, I did two showcases at my high school.

After graduating, I came the the U.S with the family because of my dads new job.

There were numerous family issues, therefore, I had no choice but to stay away from dance for an entire year .

My family and I lived in New Jersey. I didn’t own a car nor a drivers license . Therefore, I was stuck at home most of the time. It was around the time where I was expecting to finally  have some freedom and enjoy college life dancing with bunch of friends. But I had no choice…..

Those were painful depression days…..my world was limited to school and home, a huge culture shock, language barrier, no friends, my love on the opposite side of earth, and no dance. 

After owning a drivers license and some community college credit year later on september 2008, my dad finally allowed me to take a class under JAZZY J, who I found out was a teacher of my idol popper, OBA. 

I made a deal with my dad that I would take Jazzy’s weekly class twice a month.

This video was recorded few weeks before I decided to break out of my shell and meet other dancers in NJ. I visited P.A.L in Parsippany, where I met bunch of local high school breakers and my first student, best friend, and partner, Ilya (poppin iLL). Visiting this place was an “opening the door” moment to my dance life/journey.

So this video is before the beginning of my wonderful dance life/journey. Hope u enjoy it!
