fasting tips â¨
Things Iâve heard and things I do
Drink water đ§ (and green tea or black coffee, if you want).
Emphasising the staying hydrated, itâs important.
Eat [sugar-free] gum - it does have a very small amount of calories, so not too much.
Donât try do a 48+ hour fast on your first time, build up to it. Try around 16 hours on your first go.
On a healthy fast, you shouldnât feel nauseous, faint or sick. I highly advise you to break your fast if you are feeling sick, and to eat something.
STAY SAFE. IF YOU ARE FEELING SICK, BREAK YOUR FAST. DO NOT GO ON FOR LONGER THAT YOU CAN.
Occupy yourself - paint your nails, read a book, watch a movie, go on a walk, look at tumblr, study, work
If youâre a student, Iâve personally found fasting on school days rather than weekends is easier - more distractions, more excuses not to eat.
Time your fasts well. I try to time mine to end around 10am.
Keep away from food related activities if you can
Sleep... the hours go by quicker.
Have a specific thing you are going to eat when you break your fast. Be careful to not binge immediately after a first.
If you mess up, if you break early, if you binge, if you straight up forget youâre fasting (I do that all the time)....itâs okay. Weâre all human. Another hour, another day with new opportunities will come soon. Try to have empathy for yourself.
Enjoy it. Pay attention to how much thinner you feel whilst fasting. How light you are when you donât eat.
Whilst exercising is good, be wary of making yourself too hungry.
Consider intermittent fasting such as the 16:8 method. There are communities on reddit with good advice and memes for intermittent fasting.
Good luck!
