CONNOR WHELAN. twenty. mental manipulation. founding new salem coven, and proud. ❝ how much can you CHANGE and get away with it, before you turn into SOMEONE else, before it’s some kind of MURDER ?? ❞
⎈ [ benjamin wadsworth, cis man, he/him ] something wicked this way comes! is that connor whelan? the twenty year old warlock who others often describe as outgoing and honest but i hear can also be arrogant and facetious. he has been a part of the new salem coven for six months. when i think of them i usually think of stale cigarette smoke, an unmade bed, water coming to a boil, crackling joints and how proficient they are in mind manipulation. hope they haven’t made any enemies as of late.
ayyy it’s abby again, back with a second character – your future problematic fave connor. as usual all the deets are under the cut
connor, the son of a bitch, is severely lacking in the loyalty department – also in empathy, sensitivity, and patience. his friends would call him live fast, die young (if he had any anymore), and everyone else calls him a facetious asshole. if there’s any depth below that, it’s hidden hidden under layers of cigarette smoke and well-placed jabs. he excels in pissing people off just enough for them to lash out, and then disappearing for several days
his upbringing was remarkably unremarkable, as far as raising warlocks go. connor’s an only child, born to two mid-level founding coven members and raised with the idea that their leaders’ word was law, and it was a witch’s or warlock’s born duty to act in the best interest of the coven. connor, frankly, as no interest in acting for anyone’s interest except himself – and even then, his actions don’t always spell it out.
so, he saw through the bullshit around 17 or 18, but his life was comfortable. he went to school, he fucked around with his friends after, and went home to his parents in their nice little house on their quiet residential street.
except, that wasn’t enough. soon, connor and his friends – other warlocks, witches, and wix typically discontent with the coven, too – started getting bolder with their magic. they only ever earned slaps on the wrist, and nothing more than a week’s worth of grounding from his parents, but it was enough to let the resentment fester.
six months ago, connor was tapped by the new salem coven, and converted shortly after. he doesn’t know if he ever would’ve abandoned the founding coven if his now-mentor hadn’t reached out – for reasons he still doesn’t know – but he tries not to dwell on it for too long, or the bridges he burned by abandoning his allegiance.
wanted connections !!
ex friends – connor’s pissed off a lot of people, but these are the friends in particular he abandoned by joining the new salem coven. i’d die for the bitterness and curt words and lingering looks and uuuuugh. bonus points if this includes any ex-romantic connections
fwb – more on that here, but i was definitely thinking this is something that can evolve. because i live for that angst i would sell my firstborn child for the person he’s sleeping with to be from the founding coven, and it’s the one tie he just can’t sever; alternatively, they’re someone who’s inducted him into the new salem cousin and bc of that he trusts them
new salem connections – people who greeted connor, inducted him, showed him the ropes; basically people he trusts or leans on, who’ve made him feel more welcomed in the new salem coven than he ever felt with the founding coven.
influences – bad or good; people who encourage his worst behaviours or try to elucidate his best qualities; tbh connor needs both and i’d die for either
as usual like this if u wanna plot & i’ll love you down !!
