A TRANSFORMERS FANFIC (oc insert)
CH 1 || IN THE STREETS OF NEW YORK
Noah had found himself on his bed, just thinking about how his life has run its course.
A lot has happened, and a lot has changed. Things actually been better now. Kris has had his treatments which was easier for him and his mother. Mirage was back and he seemed to be spending more time with the family despite Optimus's instruction. Optimus, however, was getting all too familiar with the human ways. Bee, had been so relieved to have been revived that he had, discreetly, visited his favorite human-much to Optimus's bewilderment. Noah remembered how Bee got a huge scolding from the "Big Man."
The "Big Man" indeed. Yet, he was happy that he and Optimus could actually agree on things now---especially joining on telling them (Mirage and Bee) to not be reckless and not getting into trouble.
"Sonic, you got a call." Kris's voice was heard from the doorway. Noah got up as soon as he heard his little brother.
"Girlfriend." Kris nonchalantly said.
---It didn't work well with her. Yes, they dated for a bit and yet her expeditions and career had caused some misunderstandings. They decided to be good friends. And they were.
"Girl space friend. Kris." He stood up, walked to his brother and ruffled his hair. The little guy shook his head.
"Hey, focus on your homework."
Noah took hold of the phone. He heard Elena's voice from the other line.
"Hey." He heard her chuckle.
"How you doin'? Any new discoveries?" Noah asked with a smile of his own. Elena chuckled again as a reply.
"Getting there. Oh yeah, I was hoping that you pick up someone. She's a friend...a colleague. Actually, a friend-like colleague, if that makes sense?" Noah's brows furrow after hearing her.
"I guess. Kinda. I have to pick someone up?"
"Yeah. A diner---I told her to be at the diner. You will pick her up there." Elena then told him where it was. Noah nodded, not that she could see from the other line.
"Got it. She knows about the texts. If you know what I mean---also I gotta go. Tell your brother, I said hi. And the others too. " He knew what "others" she meant.
"Got it. See you around when you back."
Noah placed the phone down. He turned back to see Kris was listening, the whole time.
"What did she say?" Kris shrugged. Noah just had to indulge him with their conversation. Kid was just too curious.
"Picking up someone. And no, you're staying." Noah replied even before Kris could say or at least demand to come along.
Yet- Noah was also curious who could Elena's friend be or colleague? Either way, he was fixated on one thing that she knew about the texts.
Ali arrived after a nonstop flight of about...16 hours more or less. It was inevitable that she arrived jet lagged. She also had a massive headache. The meal that was served earlier was not into her liking so now she had found herself removing what contents of what was left from her stomach while she had the briefcase, clenched in her arm. The briefcase holding the relief.
"Ugh...I am never having that again." She walked out of the airport, hungry and a bit wobbly. She had to get some food and the diner (she had asked the cab driver if it was close earlier) was very far.
"Is there uhm a food stall?" She asked the cab driver, who was pretty chill and friendly with her.
"Yeah. You okay with hotdogs?" The man asked. From what she had observed, he had tan skin and an accent that has proved to have her in awe. Oh, and the young man was dashing so she could not help but blush every time the man would look at her from the front view mirror.
"Oh yes, I am. Hotdogs would seem lovely." Ali then paused and sighed heavily.
"You alright? You ain't from here huh?"
"No. I'm from the Philippines."
"Philippines? That's a bit of a mouthful." The cab driver laughed.
"Originally it was called Filipinas." Ali began but she stopped. "Sorry, I uhm, I am an archaeologist and I just love history." She spoke. The cab driver only smiled.
"Nonsense. I loved to hear about that. Hey, we can talk more over hotdogs. It's just around this corner." The cab driver added.
"Alright, sure!" Ali sounded so excited and figured that she had to dial it down a bit.
"No, really." Ali was in the middle of explaining to the cab driver, which she had now known as Tyler, that her fellowmen absolutely adored the Black culture. All the while, admiring the beautiful city at night.
"We got rappers. We have a famous one named Francis Magalona. Even little kids try to rap like him. Our rap is somewhat nationalistic and its cool." She added, taking a bite from the hotdog. "This is really good!" She was just elated to have tasted this after a bad airline meal.
"Told ya. Best hotdogs in the city. Now tell me, what brings you to New York? You're a long, long way from home." Tyler chuckled, flashing that bright smile that could bring Ali to her knees. Ali had to feign being all flustered and act normal---explaining everything.
"I see. I still have to take you to the diner." Tyler sighed, looking up at the city lights. "And about that adoration, that was surprising,"
"Oh? Well, our ancestors were called "Negritos". They had black skinned too---they're called "Aetas " today. In my opinion, we like brothers yo!" Ali said, trying her best to sound cool. Tyler was just amused.
"And then---we were the first ones to indulge when rap was made. It was said that it became famous when US Troops was stationed in military bases there. It's truly fantastic." Ali continued and as she did so, Tyler just watched and was just fascinated with this here---young woman.
When they had eaten all of the hotdogs, Tyler had to say that it was time for them to go. Ali was saddened by this as she got inside the cab. The drive to the diner was all but silent. Ali didn't want to part but work was work.
She heard Tyler speak again.
"How long will you be staying here?" He asks. Ali bit her lip as she thought of a reply.
"It will depend on how long this will take." She said, pointing at the suitcase.
"I guess I can take you around the city and when you're back home...maybe we become pen pals?" Tyler added and this caused Ali's heart to skip a beat.
They were to send each other letters and this could pave the way for them to call each other using their phones.
"International calls are expensive...but I can deal with that." Ali said.
"Alright me too." She heard him say and boy, was the girl in cloud nine. Ali was actually excited of the days to come.
Was this her love story, unfolding?
And then a bright light caught her attention. She looked back to see that there were black cars. It gave off the impression that they were being followed.
"Hey Tyler. I think we have company." She said, worriedly. Tyler noticed the black cars from his mirror.
"Hold on. " He pushed on the gas to evade the cars. Ali held on to the suitcase tight. A sudden car chase had started to develop, and Tyler was making sure they wouldn't get caught. By now they had passed the diner, but that wasn't important. Tyler must keep his passenger safe.
"Who are they?" Ali could hear the worry and fright in his voice.
"I don't know!" Ali watched as the cars continued to chase after them.
As Tyler tried to get away from them, a car had crashed into the cab causing it to swerve. The car then had spun round and round before it slid across the road and halted to a stop.
Ali was dizzy and tried to make out what was happening or what has happened-yet she got over to where Tyler was. She used all her strength to do this.
Tyler held her hand while groaning in pain. "Ali..." Blood trickling down his face. Ali gasped worriedly.
"Tyler-" Ali whimpered and then started to unbuckle his belt. "We need to get you out of here!" Tyler heard her say but then noticed that the men in coats had gotten out of their cars and was approaching the cab. He placed a hand on top of the belt.
"Ali, get away from here." Tyler said looking up at her. Ali froze.
Was she going to leave him there? Was he being serious?
"You-you're joking right?" Her voice quivered while she searched for a hint of jest in his eyes, that he was just joking but Tyler was dead serious.
"No!" Ali refused despite Tyler trying to pry her hand off the belt. "You, need to get to safety!" Ali didn't say anything and shook her head. Tyler shook her, his grip strong on her shoulder. He did this in hopes to bring her back to reality or to stop her from panicking.
"You need to get away and I promise I will find you." Tyler said looking deep in her eyes. Ali tried to hold back her tears, but he could see that she was abou to cry.
"Alright." She nodded. Tyler chuckled and handed her the briefcase.
Ali had to get off the cab, but she didn't want to leave him behind. What choice did she have? Ali gave the man, a tight hug, then got out and ran for it. The men followed after her. They didn't want her to escape.
Tyler watched her ran as fast as she could.
They had come upon an empty alley save for an old car. Ali placed the briefcase on top of it. Then removed her coat before facing the men.
"I could literally kill you for destroying this magical night..." Ali seethed. She was angry at the men who just chuckled. The young woman already knew what they were thinking.
How could a small woman beat them?
For Ali, she had taken up martial arts to protect herself. Excavations can give opportunities to grave robbers or black-market dealers to take what they have discovered, had dug or unearthed. She wasn't going to let that happen.
Ali then got up the old car and gestured the men to come forward while she tied up her hair before getting into a fighting stance. She could see the men getting cocky, yet this did not faze her.
A man then charged at her, ready to hit the female with a club. And just as she was ready to fend herself, a sudden force sent her flying and then falling back to the ground---hard.
She could see the lights were fading into black while trying to stand. To no avail, her body felt heavy. Just before she lost consciousness, all she could make out was a vague outline of silver.
