I think the last soundtrack to be this formative for me was Rushmore. I don’t often seek out movie soundtracks but this is now part of my weekly routine. This was a movie and a soundtrack that felt made just for me. And when Cell Therapy came on for Chiron-in-ATL that was such a cool touch and made me smile cuz part of my high school rotation was Goodie Mob. Not included on the soundtrack was that Caetano Veloso song in the movie and THAT is one of my favorite songs!!! Cu-cu-ru-cu-cu song. Everything was perfect and this will go down in history as one of the greatest and important and warm and loving beautiful hopeful movies to ever be made. This movie is in that upper echelon of my life’s movies. Along with Life is Beautiful, The Hunt, Come and See, Lives of Others, the Ceylan movies, District 9, The Act of Killing, Drive, Ordinary People, Deerhunter, Woman Under the Influence, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Ace Ventura!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

STRONG FEELINGS when I heard this for the first time in Luke Cage. I am pumped to put this on my Spring Break mix this year as track 1 or 2. 

Luke Cage was my #2 show from 2017 right behind Atlanta. And then I saw Cottonmouth in Moonlight and my world changed.

HAHAHAHAHAHA I was in a thick Cat Stevens mood from like 2005-2007 but I never paid attention to these lyrics so am havin a real hoot tonight. Good tunes for Donald Trump’s morning dump!

This is easily my most listened-to song of 2017 so far because I heard this song for the first time last fall at a bar and my ears perked up. It’s very catchy but also makes me feel bad cuz it’s about not wasting your life but whenever I listen to this I am wasting my life on the internet. TOMORROW IS THE DAY LOL

This is the prettiest-saddest song from Hamilton I think.

My other go-to Hamilton songs on repeat are the title track, Wait For It, Say No to This, and Dear Theodosia. I was in a mega-Ham hole last year where I’d listen to the whole thing in one sitting and play Bubble Shooter.

When I was home in FL a couple years ago I revisited my parents’ record stash and put this on and a flood of memories from childhood came back. I know every song on side 2 of this album!

This is a song that would be very good for DOIN IT to but my bf is so overly sensitive to NEW MUSIC he tends to say, “CAN WE LISTEN TO SOMETHING ELSE???” [whine whine whine poopy] after like 55 seconds of a new song. So I quit bothering. Let’s just listen to R. Kelly for the 11 thousandth time. Ya know, where that one song pops up when you’re in the middle of doing it that goes, “AND A MIDGET SHIT ON IT! AND A MIDGET SHIT ON IT!”

I do like RKelly fyi. If you are listening, R. I love Hair Braider. And Same Girl for the part that goes, “Does she work at TBS? YEP!”

Phil Spector does everything right except not murdering people. This whole album rules and I love the excitement captured by the beginning piano.

STEVIE. This is a no-brainer. This is perhaps my favorite Christmas album of all time. It's young Stevie close to the time he recorded my favorite song of all time ("Castles in the Sand.")

Look. I don't know much about Elton John. I love Your Song. I like Tiny Dancer. Maybe a couple others. BUT THIS SONG BLOWS MY MIND.

Christmas songs Day 2.

I never get sick of this song. This song just really grabs the balls and tugs at em and shouts in your face how AWESOME CHRISTMAS IS. His singing is just so COMMITTED. This is easily one of my- the person who can't name more than 5 EJ songs- favorite Christmas songs of all time. This is going to EASILY be my most listened-to Xmas song of 2014. I just listened to it again and I AM SO PUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best part is EASILY at 2:24: "WAAAAAYLcome to my Christmas SAW-ong!" I AM INSANE!!!!!! FROM THIS SONG!!!!!!!!! IT'S PERFECTION! IT'S CATNIP! IT'S PEPSODENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
