1. self-inflicted colourless - sasanomalyÂ
Where someone like me being alive
brings sadness to tens of thousands of people
And no one wants me:Â
I wish that's the kind of world it was.
2. irony - scop
I want to take a little break
I want to take a little break, but...
Time cruelly goes, hour by hour,
And so... drags me right along...
3. ikanaide - sohta ft. lis
Don't cry. Don't cry.
But the truth is, I want to say out loud,
"Don't go."
4. nakamushi robot - ramune ft. KK
The pain in the Nakimushi Robot's heart
No one probably knows
Hey, even I can't understand the volume of that wound...
5. akaito - mikitoP ft. sou
Even now I still want to touch you, and it hurts...
The farewell I’ve tried to say so many times
6. good morning emma sympson - fullkawa honpo ft. madoka ueno
I’m sorry, Emma
And I’m sorry for being a crappy friendÂ
I wonder if you knew, Emma
How happy I was that I met you
7. DIARY - ken kamikata
Burdens piling up, memories of the days we could laugh together,
I desert them all and begin walking
Even though I can’t see what’s ahead, even though you’re not there.
8. lemon - kenshi yonezu
Even the sadness of those days, even the pain of those days
I loved every bit of it, with you by my side
In my heart, never coming out, is the bitter smell of lemon
I can't go home until the rain lets up
And even now, you're my light

lyrics for c’est la vie under the cut!
C’EST LA VIE
c'est la vie; “that’s life.” A French phrase used to express acceptance or resignation in the face of a difficult or unpleasant situation.
1. blame it on the girls - mika
Like a baby you're a stubborn child, what's the matter?
Always looking for an axe to grind, what's the matter?
While you're wondering what the hell to do, were you wishing we were lucky like you?
2. under my skin - jukebox the ghost
I can feel you breathing under my skin
And each breath you take is a brand new begin...
Each breath you take, brand new beginning
England has a way of getting under my skin
And my family has a way of getting under my skin
3. the trick to life - the hoosiers
The trick to life is not to get too attached to it!
(Don't look your life passed you by, 'cause you're too attached to it.)
4. Â toxic boy - kenshi yonezu
Scary, shrewd, unbearable mistakes -
In some moment or another, they vanishÂ
There’s not even a trace of them left!
Both sweet and sour, they’re all right, all right
(Narrow, humble, hopeless, won’t fade)
If you recognize it, then there’s no mistake;Â
There’s not even a trace of them left!
5. hitorinbo envy - koyori ft. rib
To you, and even you
To be blunt, I’m not really needed
In this world, right?
That festival seems pretty fun
Come on,
Walk, walk, come over here
Clap your hands and walk, rattatta
That’s enough, I’m tired, go away
Today too, I’m a bad child, an unwanted child.
6. otonatic - gesu no kiwami otome.
They told me
Not to take life so lightly
But I’m no adult
I can’t force myself to smile and all
I know
But now that I think about it, everyone around me is so dull
7. town of masks - sakanaction
It’s twilight in the town full of contradictions
I’m even used to the delays from completely full trains
Just a snob hiding behind a mask, I’ve already died
I laughed and laughed and laughed,
but I laughed and laughed and laughed,
but I was crying
8. change - monkey majik ft. yoshida brothers
Renew your wishes get on out of this fray
You'll never change if you keep running away
A little time, you need to figure a way
'Cause you know it doesn't lie in front of you
And you know it doesn't lie in front of you
now i bear little resemblance to the king i once was.
i bear little resemblance to the king i could become.
maybe paper is paper, maybe kids will be kids -
lord, i want to remember how to feel like i did.
I've always found the character creation process really fun, but I never actually really fill out any sort of info sheet or spreadsheet aside from applications. Most of it goes on in my head over a long period of time, so I just decided to... translate my thoughts into actual words!Â
This list is all over the place, but it's composed of questions I think I generally ask myself when I'm developing a character. They're all about personality, basically. To me, the most important aspect of a character is their personality - so I actually tend to work backwards when it comes to filling out parts of their backstory. A lot of the questions overlap, but they all help me to get a better of idea of my characters as actual people.
I think I start from anywhere in this list?? My ideas for OCs usually start from really simple things like, "I want a character who has [trait x]", "I want a character who's sheltered", "I want a character who speaks in a rude manner", so on and so forth. Aand then I work from there... somehow. Everyone has different ways to go about the character creation process - I've created this list mostly as a more proper and structured reference for myself when I make OCs, but I figured it would be nice to share it with others too. (And if you have your own tips on creating characters I would love to hear them!!)
Each question does not necessarily need a straight yes-or-no like answer. They're... just questions that help me think about and get a grasp on my characters' personalities. If you honestly try to type out answers to all the questions I seriously salute you because I just answer them in my head really. Writing out proper answers would be hell.Â
(oh yeah also i say "how so and why" 5000 times in this)
WHAT PERSONALITY TRAITS DO THEY HAVE?
Try to give a not necessarily equal, but a good number of both positive and negative traits. There are also traits that can be either positive or negative at times, in a sense - for example, it's arguably good to trust in others, but it's bad to be too trusting.Â
What are some of their inherent traits, which you'd say they simply possess innately from the beginning?
What traits do you think they have (perhaps partially) developed from influence? Where is this influence from?
How self-centered are they? How so?
What traits of your character appear more obvious to other people? (e.g. It is obvious that your character is short-tempered.) Why?
What traits are less obvious? Why?
Are said traits revealed to other people after a certain amount of closeness is developed? How so, and why (if there's a reason)?
What facets of their personality are they self-aware of, and what facets are they not? Who does your character think they are, and how different is this from reality?
Are they in denial of any of their traits?
Do they fully embrace any traits?
WHAT DRIVES THEM IN LIFE, IF ANYTHING?
I like to think that everyone wants something out of life, even if only on a subconscious level. This doesn't have to be a lofty goal or ambition; it can merely be something like the desire to feel adequate, the desire to feel happy  - or secure, or loved, whatsoever. Personally, I feel like a person's driving force in life has to do a lot with their fears. Here's an interesting article on several 'chief features'; 6 key fears that people tend to have.
Are they aware of what they desire out of life? Is there anything that could make them aware of it in the future?
Do they have a clear direction of where they want to go in life? Why or why not?
If applicable, does their lack of knowing their wanted direction in life bother them?
Do they wish to be successful? What is 'success' to them?Â
How do they measure 'happiness'? By how loved they feel by other people? By how secure they feel? By how rich they are? By whether they've completed a specific goal?
Are they a very driven person, who relentlessly pursues their goals and ambitions? How so, and why or why not?Â
If anything, what do they want to do when they're older?
What do they (possibly/also subconsciously) seek out of relations with other people? Comfort? Reassurance? Distraction? How is this related to their desires in life?
WHAT IMPRESSION DO THEY TEND TO GIVE PEOPLE? + HOW DO THEY INTERACT WITH OTHERS?
There are usually differences between who your character really is, and how people perceive them. Said differences may be very, very minor, but they're still definitely there! In a sense, a person's demeanor is how their personality translates into their movements, actions, and speech. Even in the case of people who actively put up fronts (i.e. are 'acting' most of the time), usually facets of their personality still show through, even if very vaguely.
What is their demeanor like?
Do they actively keep up a front - a separate persona, a mask, in a sense?
How easily can people see through said mask? What can they see behind it, if anything?
How easily do they break down? In the case that they keep up a front, how and when does it crack?
What part of their personality do they try to hide from others? How and why, even if on a subconscious level?
Do they act differently when they first talk to a person / talk to someone they hardly know?
Do they act differently around people they dislike / people who irritate them? Why or why not? If so, how so?
After knowing them for a while, what do people usually think of them then?Â
- - - more relationship related questions!
Do they open up after getting to know a person? To what extent?
Is it possible for them to completely trust someone? Would they willingly let someone know and understand them without hiding anything?
As they get to know a person, do they start to behave differently around them? How so?
What kind of person are they most comfortable around? What kind of person turns them off, in the sense that they wouldn't want to hold a proper conversation with them? Why?
What kind of person would befriend them the easiest? Are there any traits that said kind of person would usually possess? Why do they befriend these kind of people the easiest?
WHAT WAS IT LIKE GROWING UP FOR THEM?
Probably the most fun part of the process for me tbh. In my opinion, I think a person's childhood vastly affects their personality - because generally speaking, children are the most open to influence. Nothing 'major' necessarily has to happen in their childhood. Even if their family is 'mundane', they still play a key part in characters' lives. Regardless of your character's attitude or opinions on their family, it remains true that they are people who they have spent much of their early years with. A family does not necessarily have to be their genetic family - it's just the people who they grew up around.
Simple things - like their siblings, their financial situation, their school peers, their parents' parenting style, so on and so forth -  can play a huge part in influencing a character's personality and beliefs. Even still, though that may depend on the character themselves, it doesn't erase the fact that the people involved in your characters' lives are people they have interacted with extensively before. I like to consider every person involved in my characters' lives as a side-character who need to be developed, even if their impact is small.
- - - parents
Who are their parental figures, if they have any? If not their genetic parent(s), who?Â
What is this / are these people like in personality?
Do they have an active interest in 'raising' your character 'well'? Why or why not?
How would they define a 'well raised child'?
How do they treat and raise your character as a result of their personality?
How are they doing financially? Does this have an impact on how your character is raised?
What values do they emphasize on in the upbringing on your character, even if 'subconsciously'? How so, and why?
Are they overly strict, or do they let your character do what they want? How much of a hold does your characters' parental figures have on them?
Are said parental figure(s) religious? Do they try to pass down any religious beliefs or values to your character? How so, and why?
What does your character think of the way their parental figures treat them?
What is your character's parental figure(s)'Â opinion on your character? Why?
What is your character's opinion on their parental figure(s), and why?
How did your character's parental figures influence them? What impact on your character's personality and beliefs did they have?
- - - siblings
Do they have any siblings, or figures that would be considered close to a sibling? Who?
What are these people like in personality? How are they different from your character?
If raised by the same people, what is it about them that made them turn out differently from your character? How and why did they respond differently to their parental figures' parenting style, as compared to your character?
What is your character's siblings' opinion on your character?
What is your character's opinion on their siblings?
How close is your character to their siblings?
How do your character's siblings treat your character?
Does said sibling try to be protective? Does said sibling play a role in raising your character? How so, and why?
Or is it the opposite - is your character the one who is protective over their siblings? Are they indifferent? How so, and why?
Does your character's siblings end up influencing them?
Who is of more importance to your character - their siblings, or their parents? Are they equally important? Are neither important?
- - - school
What kind of school did your character go to? A public school? A private school? What was the school environment like?
What do their peers think of them?Â
How do their peers - especially in their class - treat them? Why? Does this influence your character in any way?Â
What is your character's opinion on their peers? Why? How does this show in how they interact with their schoolmates?
Does your character have any friends in school? Who? What are they like?
How close is your character to said friends? Of how much value are they to them? Why?
Do teachers play a part in your character's life? It's their responsibility to try and assist their students - so do they try and interfere with your character's life? How does this turn out? How does your character interact with teachers in the first place?
What does your character think about school as a whole? Do they like their school system? Do they attend school regularly? So on and so forth.
I may update this later, but I think that's all for now? or more like i can't be bothered to work on this post anymore tfw
((this has been sitting in my drafts for over a month now haha oops)) finally got some extra space to on my sd card, so I opened colors 3d for the first time in forever and made this shittee ryotr doodle (on the 3ds gallery you can see his hand stick out in 3d whoOOAaao future)
im gonna take despair fever symptoms as becoming a person u would fear/dislike being the most SO here i go
reika - trusting; overdependent
it's kind of funny how reika actually needs to be more trusting of others, but absolutely detests the very idea of it. her life is ruled by a subtle paranoia that she doesn't even really realise she has. she doesn't want to rely on other people because she knows they can stab her in the back. she has to work for her own dreams and goals because who can she really trust to help her get there? her paranoia is what has pushes her to be independent.
she totally hates the idea of being dependent on others because she's scared of it. she's desperate to keep herself together on her own so she doesn't have to reach out to others. so her despair fever self is essentially a culmination of her worst fears - an overly sensitive and emotional crybaby who needs others to be there for her.
ryota - naive; simple-minded
ryota's kind of an interesting case?? because... his 'despair fever' self doesn't seem any different from how he usually presents himself, really. loud. painfully 'optimistic'. someone who doesn't seem to ever takes things totally seriously, or to heart. that's what he'd genuinely be like if he had despair fever.
the thing is, ryota usually pretends to be chipper and empty-minded because he thinks it's the easiest way to get by without anyone catching anything off about him. to him, it's so easy to act like you're cheerful and optimistic because you just have to be stupid.
naive people are the people he 'dislikes' most, so to speak. how is it possible for them to be so utterly dense? that's the question he's always wondered about. he thinks it'd be interesting to see things from their point of view, but at the same time... he can't help but laugh a little at how small and simple their view of the world is. (funny how his own is actually small, too, but he doesn't realise that.)
he'd 'hate' to be someone like that, because then life would be so simple - if he were a simple person, then he probably wouldn't analyse people or situations and that would be no fun! life's not just a simple thing. it's complex, and that's why he'll need to work at understanding it.
shuu - fragile; susceptible
it's... kind of hard to explain how shuu's mind works. but the important part is that he's been conditioned to think in a certain way - but is also a little aware of this at the same time. which is why he's so afraid of people breaking his psyche or pleading to him to think in a different way. he's scared to challenge his own thought process and values because they've been hardwired into him - essentially drilled into his mind again and again while being isolated.
to him, challenging his thoughts and values would be like challenging his identity. so many of them have been inculcated into him, but his own identity is all he has for himself. he doesn't want to lose his sense of self, because if he did - if he questioned himself - he wouldn't know what to think of anything at all. and the thought of that scares him. at heart, he knows he doesn't really know what's going on and that his mind is in an absolute cluttered mess - so he desperately clings on to "what he's been taught", really. what's been indoctrinated into him.Â
this 'clinging' manifests as him being awfully stubborn about his own views. it's so strong that he has basically kind of brainwashed himself into thinking what he's been taught is true and right. his stubborn nature is kind of his shield against really prying into his own mind, which he's terrified of.
so that's what his despair fever self is, really. it's actually kind of what shuu is at the very core. a fucking mess. lmao
