Am I the only one that hopes that baby cry in the new teaser is not a Rayllum baby?
Don't get me wrong I think the idea of rayllum having kids is something they would want and in a post-credit scene of the actual series finale, I'd love to see it. However, given the fact that the time skip will be placed either exactly or a little before Aarovos's return I think it would not only be stupid but out of character for the two to bring a baby into the world. They know what is coming and they now the only reason they survived was because of the archdragons great sacrifices. While the dragaang would of course start to go back to regular lives the thought of preparing would never leave their minds, especially Rayla. I don't think they would consciously choose to bring a baby into the 7 year gap.
That being said if it is a rayllum baby it is more likely than not an accidental baby because that's what creates the most drama, angst, and writing potential. Again though I can't see the two being that careless to endanger their own child, even by accident and I don't think the writers should rely on a fan favorite rayllum baby to keep people invested.
I couldn't guess who the baby in the trailer IS or ISN'T, it the context of the trailer story is that it's Aaravos returning. No way to tell if that's actually who it is. Bit that's what the trailer is telling us!
Aaravos: I will return.
followed immediately by:
Baby: *cries*
is meant to be interpreted in immediate chronological order.
However,,,
This show loves its twists. Maybe it's Aaravos, but there's a good chance it's one of several other babies that may or may not exist! Rayllum is together. Maybe they'll have kids. Miyana literally has two babies in the interim — could be a flashback. Maybe someone adopts, or maybe it belongs to new characters.
Heck, maybe it's not a literal baby in the show, but a metaphor for rebirth! Lots of options here where the arc hasn't even begun yet.
And maybe more than one of these things exist at once. TDP loves its layers and parallels!
I like your optimistic take, I do hope they go the metaphorical theme direction. TDP has amazing writing but they at times make some questionable decisions.

[id: a drawing of Ezran from the dragon prince. he holds the messenger arrow that sends word of his fathers death. the arrow splits the drawing into two. the moonshadow binding disintegrates and flows past his head in the top of the drawing. he has one eye and is wearing a blood red crown. below the arrow dividing the drawing is Ezran's boot crushing the arrow. end id]
“I can smell the blood upon your pretty crown. Was it not once a blade? Perhaps you should leave it here, too, with all these terrible things.”
Ezran art in honor of his short story! The original plan was to get this out before the new season, but seeing as it released 5 days early that ended up not happening! Enjoy it now!

Comic based off of @musashi’s video essay on Franziska!!
I’ve watched it three times and cried really bad on my first watch, so safe to say, this video has affected me. So I wanted to draw something that paid tribute to it!!! It was definitely a challenge trying to get all the descriptive metaphorical writing into a visual medium, but I hope I did it a justice!!
Please go watch the video!

Just finished TDP season 5 and while the show has always dealt with serious and dark topics I was not expecting for them to go that genuinely dark. Especially with each dark moment further leaping across the line the previous scene held continually surprising me. IT WAS GREAT, UNEXPECTED AND LITTLE HORRIFIC SURE BUT GREAT. There are a million different scenes that come to mind where genuine darkness is shown and they even surpass real events with a split second where you think a character commits suicide on screen. Reminds me of season 4 and the split second you think Janai is gonna cut the architects hands off before you remember if that ever actually happened it would prolly spell the end for this franchise.
