A place to document the progress of my animatic series. Most updates will mostly be concept art or animatics. The planned finished state of this project is a colored animatic. There are no plans for the series to be fully animated or voice acted.

Welcome to the Whispering Aspens Progress blog!

Here's where I post most of the work I do on this animatic series! There are potential spoilers ahead! 

What is this project?

Whispering Aspens is an animated series that will be kept at most, as colored animatics. As this project is run completely by one (chronically ill) person, full animation is just not possible.

Completing this project might not even be possible, but being chronically ill and unable to work, I need something to make life feel fulfilling.

About the show

Payton, a schizophrenic, is determined to hide their disorder after their friends abandoned them. Payton figures its time for a fresh start as they befriend their coworker, Pizookie. Just one problem, Payton can't tell if Pizookie is actually a shapeshifter or if their hallucinating. Do the shapeshifting, kidnapping creatures called Whispers exist? Or are they just another delusion? Join Payton as they figure out what is real.

Format 

Whispering Aspens is a series of [colored] animatics. Each completed scene is posted individually. When all the scenes in one episode are finished, the scenes are compiled and posted in one video.

Music in the show is basic [if any], Characters are NOT voice acted, but there are subtitles instead.

Happy pride month! This is the main four’s canon orientations. Elloise and Giga’s might not appear in the first season. Might do some other characters later.

Elloise- lesbian greyace

Payton- librafluid aroace (also apothi-aroace but couldn’t fit the flags)

Giga- demiromantic asexual

Pizookie- agender aroace

So sadly I’m suffering from a bit of burnout. I will say with the pilot starting to release next week, the pilot is not a first episode pilot but a proof of concept pilot broken into shot by shot segments. It was meant to prevent burnout but it didn’t.  Being a chronically ill workaholic is torture sometimes xD.

Some news

First of all I'm not going to be posting any more spoilers on this account. Release day is close enough where I don't think I need to.

SECOND

The entire first season has been written. However it still needs beta read. it's about 70 pages currently. it's been through at least 20 rewrites over the years but I think I'm finally happy with how it is.

NEXT POINT

I'm thinking about getting voice actors for the final show (and maybe someone to help with backgrounds) To anyone willing to help out I will gladly help you out with your own projects. I can do live2d rigs (if they're simple) , live2d model cuts, backgrounds, character designs etc.

However, I don't think the show will ever be fully animated, I think rough choppy animation is about what I can handle without needing to pay a huge team.

The first part of the Whispering Aspens pilot will be coming out June 5th on youtube! Which I will be linking here. I hope it's not too annoying dividing an 8 minute pilot into parts like this. I'm essentially releasing what I can get done in a month. As you can (hopefully) see, there's also going to be a short animation in between pilot parts.

For those wondering, I do have everything on a 5 month buffer. This is so I can deal with chronic illness and not have it affect my upload schedule too much.
