Finn isn’t 13 or tiny anymore, and he’s filled with a lot more anger and trauma, but he’s essentially still the same he always had been. At least when it comes to curling into Robin in search for safety.

What if the characters from The Black Phone were babysitting/had to be around a baby?

Finney Blake : 13 year old Finney would awkwardly try to make it stop crying,by rocking it,or hushing it.He would be super stressed.As for older Finney,I don't know if he would try to avoid being in a room with a baby,but if he had no other choice,he would be slightly better at soothing it,still awkwardly.I think he would enjoy tickling it. (If he were to have a family,I feel like he would have 2 kids,boy as the older and girl as the younger)

Gwen Blake : Knows her shit when it comes to children for some reason.When it comes to children,she has infinite patience,it's quite surprising.But will accidentally curse out of stress,and feel bad about it(the baby is not even aware of it.I see her as more of a girl mom)

Robin Arellano : Definitely the "cool older cousin" to his family members,so it would make sense for him to struggle with a screaming smelly baby.He would try feeding it shit babies are not supposed to eat. (He gives a "dad of three,first girl is the oldest,and two younger brothers)

Ernesto Arellano : I don't wanna say he is not responsible enough,but yeah,he is NOT responsible enough ...He is super forgetful and just kind of leaves Gwen to do it.

Bruce Yamada : Probably the calmest person in this scenario.He knows what to do incase the baby starts crying,knows all the right lullabies,and rocking methods.I think he would be the best suited for this. (Children and animals love this guy.Would most definitely be a dad of two.)

Vance Hopper : As you can imagine,his cortisol level would rise up if the baby did so much as whimper.He would genuinely try to not throw it against the wall,but it would get harder.The baby finds comfort in grabbing and munching on his hair,which would typically upset him,but as long as that thing is not screaming,he is all good. (This man is a fucking girl dad and he would brag about it nonstop)

Griffin Stagg : Just stares at it awkwardly,would try to poke it a few times,which would make the baby cry even more (Vance would then put Griffin in time out for poking the baby)

Billy Showalter : Would try his best to be as calm and mature as possible,but due to his forgetfulness,he would accidentally leave stuff on the floor,for example a toy block,and the baby woukd stuff it in it's mouth.Taking care of a baby made him realize that dogs are infact better than babies.

This was so fun to do :)

That’s what Finney heard every day. Be thankful you’re alive. Be thankful you made it out. Be thankful you get another chance.

But he can’t.

He can’t be thankful, not when he was threatened to be gutted like a pig, not when he was starved, not when he was abused. He can’t be thankful when nobody understands what he went through.

When he went home, he returned to a place that felt vaguely different. To a family he recognised from somewhere.

“Finn! Thank god you’re okay,”

But it wasn’t his life anymore.

He’d sit behind the house, joint lit in his hand like a signal fire for a passing ship or plane.

“Come and rescue me. Come and take me somewhere else.”

But they never did.

Soon enough, the smoke would clear. He’d be met with reality again. It would start to rain, and his tears would fuse with the deluge.

Still, he’ll be back the next night to try again.

“Be thankful you’re alive.”

He just wants to escape. He wants to go home as Finney Blake, not Taylor Mullen.

If they were really thankful, they’d search for him.

He wants to escape, to return to the place he remembers living in, but he’s stuck in a macabre moment with no road ahead of him.

One day, he found a photograph. It was him. Years ago. He was younger, happier. He was thankful.

But that wasn’t him anymore. Not now, not ever again.

All he wants is to go back in time. He doesn’t want to be ‘brave’, he doesn’t want to be a ‘hero’. He’s frightened, he’s tired, and he wants to go home.

Anyways do you guys think that Finney stopped doing things he enjoyed after the basement because he could still feel the Grabber’s eyes on him? Do you think he gave up baseball because he couldn’t stop thinking about how that devil would likely swoon over how strong his pitcher’s arm is, would obsess over how the outdoor weather would make him perspire? Do you think that Finney stopped dressing freely and started covering up as much of himself as possible, wearing layers on top of each other to shut out the feeling of imaginary eyes staring down every sliver of flesh, no matter how mundane they’d be? Do you think he stopped going out, for whatever reason he may be out, to protect against the possibility of being seen again? Of being hurt? Do you think that Finn hid as much of his old self as possible, buried him down as deep as he could because he was mortified of being even remotely desirable in that disgustingly accidental way ever again?

finney blake works minimum wage. he originally worked at a big ass company where nobody gaf about ANYTHING. but now he works at a small town diner where he has Regulars and Kindness

Finn has this habit of subconsciously mimicking Robin.

Robin’s not sure if Finn even knows he does it, and if he does then he doesn’t appear to try and stop it.

Maybe it’s because of how big of a role model Robin was when he was younger, how much Finn looked up to him. How important Robin is to every part of him and his life.

Robin tilts his head to the side while he’s talking. His hair falls over his shoulder and his bandana wrinkles in the new angle, and Robin is so entranced in talking about whatever it is that he looks so bright. Finn’s listening.. maybe.

He tilts his own head back at the opposite angle. Neither of them mention it, Robin doesn’t notice because he’s too busy lighting up like a Christmas tree.

But he notices every other time. And it makes his chest fill with warmth whenever he does.

I headcanon finney as the class artist, I mean he’s always shy about his drawings and never shows it to anyone other then robin and gwen like he’d always be doodling in math class whenever he’s bored meanwhile Robin doesn’t know how to draw shit except a stickman (it’s his go to) and he always tries to relate to finney some kind of way so there’d be times where Robin proudly shows him a terrible little stick figure drawing and Finney acts like it’s a masterpiece just because Robin made it🥹🥹🥹
