Hi friends, @viperbranium and I bought our plane tickets and we’d like to start planning our trip from July 3 to 11. So we’d love for you to get in touch with us:

1.       Want to hang out? If there are any opportunities for fandom get-togethers we’ll post them on our Tumblrs, but if you have a neighbourhood favourite activity or can think of cool plans you’d love to show us, we’d love to arrange something.  We’re planning to be less touristy and more explore-local-neighbourhoods, so we’re looking for ideas and/or plans!

a.       Plans for July 4th after our Captain America Birthday Party

b.       Go to a bar for drinks

c.       Broadway musicals we should see

d.       Dress as Weekend Hipsters and do brunch

e.       Literally if there’s anything weird or cool you ever wanted to try we might want to try it too.

f.        Cute coffee shops we can hang out in and get wifi + yummy treats?

2.       Know of anywhere we can stay? We’re planning on an Airbnb, but wanted to see if anyone knows anyone offering a room, or if you don’t mind us crashing in your living room (full 8 nights or just a few). Saving money is nice, and we could always marathon the Cap movies and have an all-nighter!  Let one of us know before the end of February (or check in with us if it’s after Feb).  A hostel recc would be appreciated too.  We’re looking for options.

3.       Let’s Eat! What food do we need to try? We’re 100% willing to just go on food crawls all week and gain 100 pounds. Come with us or just make a recommendation!

4.       General tips on how to survive NYC as a savvy tourist.

Sooo… I went out for dinner & drinks with my new roommate today, and she only speaks English, so:

me: *talks to her in english*

me: *turns to the bartender and orders in spanish*

bartender: *laughs* whoa, I wasn’t expecting that southern spanish accent from someone speaking english so well, such a contrast *laughs more*

me: *laughs as well* 

and that’s it. roommate and i go sit and have dinner and bartender’s shift ends and we continue eating and don’t think a thing of it.

except then we go out

it’s been at least half an hour

and he’s standing there by the door, waiting for us to come out

and then he smiles shyly and hands me his phone number written on a pink post-it note

Dear white women feminists who loved Wonder Woman–

Listen, I also loved Wonder Woman. But I also think that Diana would be the first to note that we are not free until we are all free. So if you posted a thousand times about how important WW was for little girls to see, then I hope you are also prepared to post a thousand times about how important the new Black Panther movie is for black kids- girls and boys- to see.

I saw Wonder Woman, and I teared up the first time she stormed the battlefield in her full regalia. But, as a black woman, I couldn’t not notice that the women who looked like me played supporting, and largely non-speaking, background parts. Black Panther is the chance for women who look like me to see ourselves as the heroes in our own story. To see ourselves as warriors, as epic royalty, as fully actualized superheroes. In a major studio blockbuster, no less. Never- not ever- has that happened before.

I JUST REALIZED while rambling about what I want Steve to be doing between Civil War and Infinity War

(reclaiming his autonomy over his body, including growing a beard. reclaiming his autonomy over his beliefs and convictions. standing up for marginalized groups by attending protests and rallies and metaphorically punching the trump administration in the face [maybe literally too]. and just being the epitome of Steve Rogers ‘fight me’ and recklessness in doing the right thing + embracing who he is post-Cap. 

AND relearning how to have fun, and relax. etc)

THAT IT’S GOING TO BE COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT

1. THE WINTER SOLDIER IS BUCKY BARNES

AND POSSIBLY

and it struck me while I was thinking about it in the context of someone having a conversation with Steve about him questioning his sexuality that based on what the public was told Steve leaving the Avengers BECAUSE of Bucky might be a very, very obvious conclusion for people to make.

tl;dr common perception post Civil War is probably leaning towards Captain America being gay as fuck betraying America for TWS leaving the Avengers for Bucky.
