If you're still doing the ask game, what about some hcs for South Korea?
SORRY it took a while but, always <3 my boy has been done dirty by canon so weāre here to fix that
Heās around 23-25 in my canon. A year or two older than Taiwan physically. But I kind of hc him to have been born before Japan in reality and developed faster for a while.
He is photogenic! I am pretty sure that is canon.
Good spice tolerance. Enjoys western food. Has a cafe culture and actually prefers it over tea. He lives off kimchi and likes to order in food. He is prone to getting midnight snacks. Itās a wonder how he stays in shape.
Making kimchi was a social activity he did with his brother. He doesnāt make it for himself now. He will if heās visiting or bringing it as a gift, or if they have a chance to make it together, but on a regular basis, he buys premade kimchi to consume.
Was historically a good student. By that I mean, I think he, as Silla, has a more scholarly tradition as opposed to NK/Goguryeoās fighting streak.
He is taller than the other East Asian guys, and probably has the best best physique? As in his people have 2 years of mandatory military training, and he has definitely been getting enough of rich nutrition for decades.Ā
Face is very important, and I donāt mean that in the physical sense. But also on the topic of physical appearance, he is still pretty vain and image-conscious. Though not as much as Japan.Ā
#1 supporter of anything Korean. He uses exclusively Korean products if he can. He has a Samsung. Most of his home appliances are LG. He has a Hyundai. Heās just very proud of what his people have accomplished.Ā
He doesnāt look like a K-pop star, but he somehow manages to give off that vibe anyways. Also just. if youāre a guy, and youāre tall, and you know how to dress and have a good haircut, you just. get to be attractive ig.Ā
He is really good at pc games and esports. Pretty much a pro in his spare time. Best of the personifications, really. He likes hanging out at PC bangs but has a really nice set-up at home. He often plays with America in particular, and they make a very good team or competitors, depending.Ā
SK, America, and Taiwan play League of Legends together. Itās chaos.
He is impatient. His pace of living just has to be quick. He hates being held up, and it is not an uncommon occurrence that you will find him telling you to hurry up, hurry up.Ā
Heās an entertainer. He knows how to put on a good show. Like, he might not be the most talented singer or dancer or storyteller in the room, but man does he work hard and knows how to produce a good show with everything heās got. And youāll find that sometimes this is more effective than being particularly talented in one area.Ā
Very competitive. Somehow, I donāt mean it in the sense that he has to be in first place at everything, but more that he has to win. He is very stubborn and is unwilling to admit defeat. He will do whatever it takes to win, even if it can be a bit dirty. (This is something Taiwan swears on, that he definitely cheats sometimes. He denies all charges, and it only seems to make her angrier at him for no reason.)
Jokes around a lot. Is fond of pranks. Within the first five minutes of the conversation, his humor will make an appearance. His humor is playful, but...sometimes it can also be more at someone elseās expense than his.Ā Ā
He likes movies more than K-drama. Donāt get him wrong, heāll be the first to give you K-drama recs and sit down to binge one when his job gets tiring, but what he likes are movies. Itās one of those things he and America bond over, talking about movies.Ā
He is very social. He thrives off being around people (especially his people). He has to do things with people. Heās used to it even. It just makes him feel better to not be alone.Ā
Part of this is that he misses his brother. He had gotten so used to not being alone as a personification.Ā
But this is also a characteristic he has as the personification of Korea. Koreans band together. They have a strong sense of unity as a people, and it shows in him.Ā Itās one of his greatest strengths but simultaneously one of his most off-putting qualities to other nations. However, without the nationalism aspect of this, you can say heās a good team player who will devote himself to the group and inspire others to do the same.
Hierarchy matters. It is one of those things that shows in everyday language for him, but also another legacy of Chinese culture and Confucianism that he has kept alive. People think Japan is the more respectful and polite one, but in actuality, Korea is more mindful of the complex networks of respect and hierarchy as a personification.
Is a drinker! He likes to have fun! He knows a lot of drinking games. Hangs out around young people the most. Heās a lot of fun to be around when drinking or having a house party.Ā
He thrives on intense narratives. He is a passionate and feels deeply. Struggles only motivate him to try harder. He is strong, and he has persevered through a lot, and he is proud of that. He does best when he can build an intense, grand, sweeping self-narrative. Heād secretly see himself as the main character (though, really, donāt all nations?) and certainly acts that way.Ā I mean, if you look at his history up to now, doesnāt it make a great story narratively?
