Reawakening

I was given a gift the other day. Nothing large nor costly as time or gold, but paper and ink bound into the belonging of someone else. A poem. A simple thought, a simple act, but more precious diamonds and pearls. For that ink is almost flesh and blood, a glimpse into the soul, of the boundless beauties it’s giver holds and that for me alone were told.

Non-REM sleep

Non-REM is a type of sleep, (also known as deep sleep) which occurs in 3 stages:

Stage 1:

This is the stage between wakefulness and sleep, during which the heart rate starts to slow and is when the sleeper is aware of sounds and conversations but is unwilling rather than actually unable to respond. Ever had that strange feeling where you’re thrown awake feeling like you’ve just fallen from the ceiling back into bed? These are called micro-awakenings and are most common during this stage of sleep. If a person is awakened during this time they will most likely not feel like they have slept at all.

Stage 2:

In this stage the sleepers consciousness of the outside world begins to fade completely and special types of brain waves become present in helping with protecting sleep by repressing responses to outside stimuli. A small amount of sleep based memory consolidation and information processing happens here and as the sleeper passes through this stage multiple times during the night, it is overall the longest stage out of the three.

Stage 3:

This is known as deep sleep. It’s when the sleeper is completely cut off from their surroundings and physical indicators are at their lowest. This is the stage where things like dreaming, sleep walking, night terrors and bed wetting are most common. It occurs in long periods during the first half of the night and if a person is awoken then they will feel very groggy and take up to 30mins to achieve full activity. The amount of this sleep stage present decreases with age, with elderly people sometimes showing little to none of it at all!

Ring-a-Ring-a-Roses (pt1)

Well, this has certainly taken me a hecking long time to complete, but alas it is done! This is a piece done in response to a request from someone who wishes to remain anonymous, but they gave me some beautiful characters to work with and a wonderfully inspiring idea! So, here it is, I hope you guys like it and that it will be worth the horribly long wait! 

( also, let me know if you want to be tagged in pt2, it might be another long wait but it WILL be done! XD )

Darkness is hypnotic, it doesn’t matter who you are or how pure of heart you may seem, no one is immune to its call. There’s just something in the way it wraps itself around sin that calls to the morbidity of the human soul and turns it sweet like the finest wine. That’s why the people came to Cirque de Macabe, to feed their twisted fascinations and revel in its curious darkness. In the circus tent a violins haunting melody fell to a halt as a woman, the troupes ringleader walked out into the center of the ring. The dress she wore was widows black, its sleeves and hem accented in lace to match the wide brimmed hat which formed a dark halo around her head. A bleach white bird skull looked out over its edge; center piece to the candle like sticks of dynamite that circled the hats crown. She made a strange and impressive sight, yet stood in the midst of the extending silence, not a soul could see her through the shadows. It filled her with an odd sense of power, being able to watch them all grow slowly uncomfortable, she felt like an omniscient being pulling on the strings of their fragile human emotions. Too soon the trance was shattered as overhead a spotlight came to life, casting her in a glow that for a brief moment she could almost convince herself was sunlight. Breathing deep she took a drag on the long cigarette holder balancing in her hand, then in a plume of smoke grinned up at the crowd, flashing the wicked points of her teeth. “ Madame’s and Monsieurs! I welcome you to the great Cirque de Macabe! Tonight, the shadows themselves will be brought to life before your very eyes in the tale of a harrowing journey through the underworld!” The ringleaders voice carried effortlessly around the BigTop, filled to the brim with a sly charisma and the syrupy lilt of an accent “ for you see, the universe is more than just this world! There are many and each is like a sheet of the finest silk, layered over one another so that in places they all but touch. These places are known as veils and it is here that our story begins, with the misfortune of a mortal girl, fallen from her world and straight into the mouth of hell …” Perfectly timed, a giggle of laughter came from the edge of the ring as a smoke bomb rolled to a stop at her feet, hissing black mist all around and with it the Ringleader vanished.                                                               ~

Clear skin spell

Tools:

Salt

Infusion of horsetail fern ( or any herb you feel correlates to the skin)

Clear quartz (x2)

A piece of paper

Water soluble ink

A white candle

Bowl of water

TCP (optional)

Sage incense

Method:

Start by doing a grounding meditation to focus your intent and cast a circle around you. Throughout the spell you should keep in mind your desired outcome.

When settled, take the salt and pour it into the bowl of water, stirring until it’s dissolved. The salt is to represent purification and lend its healing power to the spell. Then add the Hortail fern infusion.

Now it’s time to take the pen and paper. Envision clearly the out come you wish to achieve, let it flow through the pen. There is no defined way to do this, do what works for you. When I did it I just wrote short sentences like ‘clear skin’ , ‘ a smooth complexion’ , ‘no spots or blemishes to mark my skin’ etc .

Again, reaffirm the goal, see it glowing in the words now written on the paper, then drop it into the Horsetail/salt solution.

Now imagine that all around you are the glowing gold threads that make up the weave of time and space. See the one that correlates to the clarity of your skin and take it in your hands and with it, tie a knot, locking in your intent. Then release it and see it submerge itself in the solution.

If applicable, add a dash of TCP. Not only is this a strong antiseptic solution, I find that it help to loosen the ink and the structural integrity of the paper .

Once all has been added, you can leave the bowl on your altar and let it rest. It’s at this stage that the spell starts to come together, as the way it works is that as the writing is lifted out of the paper, so too are the imperfections lifted from your skin.

It is worth noting that as always with spells, the results may not be direct. It may be that an opportunity for a new treatment is thrown into your path or an action you’re taking to help import your skin finally starts working, but however it plays out, if the spell has worked, the result will be the same!
