Okay I realized I haven’t seen anyone do a Doctor Who coffee shop AU before and it’s such wasted potential

One technically owns the coffee shop but never really does anything

Thirteen is the new hire. Someone asked why there was a girl as a barista and Three and Twelve promptly beat him up.

Four and Thirteen keep daring each other to do progressively stupider things, which irritates Twelve because he trained her and “oh my god what are you doing with that blender”

Jack and Clara live in the apartments above the coffee shop. Clara has, like, a job, but Jack works from home and literally never leaves

Everyone stops their shenanigans when Donna shows up because she insisted to speak to Ten’s manager once, and started breaking things when Ten tried to explain that they all own an equal share of the company

Rose got a different job and the coffee shop is way out of her way now, but Nine or Ten always make sure her favorite drink is made in the mornings in case she stops by

War stopped showing up after two weeks, but One won’t fire anyone unless they all agree and Three likes him too much.

Romana manages all the actual, like, business stuff. No matter how hard she tries, Four won’t stop giving away free drinks.

The Master is the health inspector

Rory keeps showing up. He does stupid things and Eleven tells him not to come back but he’s always there anyway

Eight tried to start his own shop a couple blocks away once but it failed horribly

Jack keeps hitting on Six because he thinks Six’s eccentric taste in coats means he’s gay. He’s not. Jack doesn’t care. They’ve been on several dates

Jack also keeps hitting on Susan. One threatens to kick him out of his apartment but will literally never do that because he would actually be good for her

Three and the Brigadier are roommates, Three hates this situation but Two and Four constantly make fun of him

Jenny is about four, and Five and Ten are raising her. Nobody knows where she came from, but Five said he was thinking about having a kid one day and she showed up. Ten cooperates with this because he wants to do everything Five does.

Seriously, nobody knows where War went but they still send him paychecks every week

Eleven isn’t allowed to make drinks anymore because he can’t tell the difference between salt and sugar

Ace is the only other person who works there. Every once in a while Seven tries to tell her that she doesn’t need to make people’s drinks but she refuses to stop

The shop is the only place Bill brings dates. If the date gets angry at Twelve for being generally a problem Bill doesn’t go on a second date

The trouble started when Snowstar and Honeystar died. Their power was thrust into the paws of their sons, who were inexperienced and perhaps didn’t deserve the Light as much as their mothers.

With Snowstar dead, a question lingered in Wolfheart’s mind. Did this mean ShadowClan needed another leader to stand in her place? Fangstar was still alive, but they had been co-leaders.

He raised the question at a Gathering, and everything fell into chaos.

There are six contenders for the leadership of ShadowClan. The following page reviews their eligibility, their proposals, and their Clans.

Fangstar

Fangstar is ShadowClan’s current remaining leader. He has not yet lost a life, and holds all four StarClan has given him. He is a direct descendant from Brindlestar, and the oldest option.

He proposes that StarClan give him the remaining life neither he nor Snowstar were granted, and that ShadowClan falls back into a single-leader-monarchy.

Fangstar was born in ShadowClan, to former leader Pebblestar and ShadowClan molly Sagewhisker.

Wolfheart

Wolfheart is the first-born kit of Snowstar, who was Pebblestar’s first-born. Traditionally, the role of leader would fall to him, but the presence of another living leader complicates things.

Wolfheart proposes that he take Snowstar’s place and be granted the four lives that she lost. While Snowstar split her time between ThunderClan and ShadowClan life equally, Wolfheart promises to spend all his effort on ShadowClan.

He was born to Hazelstar, ThunderClan leader, and Snowstar. As Snowstar was half-ShadowClan, Wolfheart is 1/4.

Silvertongue

Silvertongue is the first-born kit of Fangstar and his mate Nettlefur. She is the official heir to ShadowClan’s leadership according to Fangstar.

She does not believe that she should lead ShadowClan yet, but will take the place of her aunt if it solves the conflict. However, she says that she would serve more as an adviser to Fangstar until her official turn came.

Silvertongue is full-blood ShadowClan.

Summerfur

Summerfur is Wintertail’s first-born kit, and believed to be the daughter of Fangstar.

Summerfur’s plans as leader mostly revolve around the revoking of the hereditary system. She believes that the system has fulfilled its purpose with Snowstar and Fangstar, and that ShadowClan should follow the way of the other Clans.

She is indeed Fangstar’s daughter, and was born before Silvertongue.

Reddapple

Reddapple is only related to the ShadowClan hereditary system very loosely, distantly related to Kelptail, Brindlestar’s son. However, debate has been risen over the actual order of Whitestar and Kepltail’s birth. If Kelptail was indeed born before Whitestar, Reddapple would be the heir to the throne.

He truly does not want to be leader, but understands that abdicating would leave ShadowClan leaderless if he was the true pick. Therefore, he has chosen to make an effort to become leader to properly hand the system back to Fangstar.

Reddapple’s heritage makes him 1/32 ShadowClan. His parents are Copperfrost and Birchtail, both from ThunderClan. Kelptail’s genes come from Copperfrost’s side.

Queen & Talia

Queen is also from Kelptail’s side of the family.

Talia, Queen’s mother, has encouraged her to take power in ShadowClan to make life fairer for cats that live outside the Clans and have no wish to join them. Clan cats often chase away kittypets, rogues, and loners that approach their territory. However, Talia is not eligible for leadership, as she has less than 1/2 Clan blood. She passed her beliefs to her daughter, Queen, who has agreed to participate in the competition for leadership to force the Clans to disband.

Queen has lived her life as a rogue, but her father is Hailfoot, a tunneler from WindClan.

Gonna go with some characters that I don’t talk about very much for this one: Berryflame, Nightfur, and Quailstripe.

When Quailstripe is still in warrior training, he goes out into the forest with Snowfire (his cousin) to help her pick herbs. He likes to try to identify them only from scent, or by feel, or anything he can think of. His favorite thing is trying to find new herbs that the medicine cats could use.

After he finally starts his training, he has the opportunity to play with the kits more often, and he loves it. It’s his job, but he couldn’t think of anything better.

Nightfur and Berryflame love to sit with each other and make up stories about other cats. Neither pays that much attention to others’ stories, so when they notice a scar, they take a long time to come up with a reason for it. It’s never right, and it’s always overdramatic, but they love telling stories. Berryflame is sort of ThunderClan’s unofficial story-teller, though most of her ideas come from her sister. Nightfur is just too nervous to get up on the Highledge and share the stories.

Just once I want to ask someone to a dance, but I'm a coward.

I'm up late at night not just because of chronic insomnia, but because I'm constantly wondering what's going to happen, am I going to wreck a friendship again, is this going to be my fifth time on the receiving the end of some awkward apology?

All I want to do is hold hands with somebody. Maybe sit and watch a movie and lean against them without worrying what they'll think of me for doing that. Just once.

But hey, what's wrong with being alone? I've got supportive... Friend, who has his own boyfriend. The only other people I'd really call my friends are both painfully unprepared to talk about relationships, either because they're not mature enough to help or they're just uninterested in that kind of thing.

Just once, can't I have some peace? I'd even take a pity date at this point. Anything to forget laughter and silent treatments, anything to make me feel like I'm the most important person in the world to someone.

Maybe once. Maybe twice. I know I have no hope but I'd like to be hopeful, even if it's forced, even if it's just once and I don't get that again. I can do my best at school, at my music, at my friendships, but there's something in me that wants MORE, even if my friends mean everything to me.

So. I try my best. But I'm bad at this; you can't improve when you're so bad at it no constructive criticism helps. When you just have a shit personality for guys and girls and everyone else there's not much point in trying to improve on it.

Medicine cats get more propositions than I do.

So I think that's it. I'm stuck solidly in the friend-zone not just once but forever because I don't know what to do. God's sake, I know I'm not pretty but even one pity date being beyond my reach is sad.

Shouldn't I be excited? I have so many good opportunities coming up. Solos, quintets, the Concert with a capital C where my entire god damn life is going to be laid out in front of me and I'm going to bed at eight o'clock and crying until midnight because I feel fucking useless when everything is right at my fingertips. I finally know what I want to do, and I'm in the right place now, but I can't even ask a girl to a fucking dance?

Just once, I wish I wasn't so scared.

Oof okay this is honestly kind of a hard question.

The original draft (like a year and a half ago) of the first section did!  There was originally a flood that served to kill off one of the minor characters and introduce Cherrypaw to Hazel and Snowy, but it came way too early in the story for the death to actually be important, and I’ve changed the setting so it’s not logistically possible.

Now I have tentative plans for an avalanche in the second part? Again, really only serving to kill off characters. But I’ve got to actually write up to that point to see if it works out.
