Ichigo deserved better.
And no I’m not talking about pairings so hold your damn horses. I’m talking about how he deserved to be throughly explored and exposed, the nature of his powers, his feelings, resolution after killing Yhwach and avenging his mother, him finally realizing that he saved the universe, him coming back to his family, him getting a proper conclusion, the true nature of his bankai, panel time showing and explaining the emotional strain he went through during this arc, him getting back the part of his mother that Yhwach took, Etc. Every character deserved better. Marrying them off and giving them children when he has yet to fully develop them isn’t a proper ending.
Yes….all of this! Because it’s important. I really wanted a more fleshed out story finale for Ichigo. 15 years and this ending seems unfulfilling. And on top of that, I don’t know how I truly feel about the ‘live action bleach film’ BIG announcement….
Alright so after some thought I think I’m gonna start coming on here on a more regular basis. I was off Kougami and here for a majority of the summer because I was so busy but now that I’m gonna have a little more time for myself I’ll be able to give this blog the TLC it needs, and I’m also gonna need to follow a bunch of new people. (I heard this summer was uncharacteristically dead? I wonder what happened.) Anyway, recommend blogs to me, or jump in my inbox and shout at me for a thread! Either way.
Okay, I haven’t yet seen any long posts about opinions on the ending of Bleach, and I’m sure that I wouldn’t have to go far to find them, but I’m gonna input my two cents on the topic anyway.
First and foremost, I know a lot of people are upset about how Bleach ended. A lot of people are disappointed. Even more people are angry. But before I say anything else, I’m just going to put it out here that Bleach is Tite Kubo’s creation and literally has been his life for more than the last fifteen years. This is his work, Bleach is his universe, the characters are his and his alone, and their fates were to be decided by him. He is the author—the person that gave us the foundation that our whole fandom was built on, so no matter how we feel about the ending I think we should still remember all of the phenomenal characters and plots he gave us over the last decade and a half and be thankful that he poured so much of his heart, soul, and health into this series that we’ve all been able to enjoy for such a long time. Also remember that we’re in a roleplaying community, which means that even if we don’t agree with canon, we can still write however the hell we want. There are a lot of muns that write deceased characters or with deceased characters, and the function of a creative mind is being able to write as many AUs as it wants. Same concept here. We can still do whatever we want with our writing, so let’s try not to be too hung up over what happened in Bleach.
That said, I have to say I don’t particularly mind how he ended Bleach, though in my opinion, I wish it would have ended differently. Again, it’s his series and he has every right to make it the way he sees fit; neither I nor anyone else has the right to refuse that.
ALSO, UPDATE BECAUSE THIS IS SOMETHING I DIDN’T KNOW WHEN I FIRST MADE THIS POST: BLEACH WAS CANCELLED BY WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP. THIS ENDING WAS NOT WHAT KUBO WANTED FOR BLEACH; HE WAS RUSHED TO WRAP UP IN VERY LITTLE TIME. PLEASE STOP SHITTING ON KUBO FOR HOW HE ENDED BLEACH WHEN IT’S NOT HIS FAULT WSJ DECIDED TO PUT A TIME RESTRAINT ON HIM. WSJ IS THE REASON A BUNCH OF CHARACTERS ARE MISSING AND NOT MENTIONED AND THERE’S A TON OF UNEXPLAINED SHIT.
I REPEAT: THIS IS NOT THE RESOLUTION KUBO WANTED.
There are gonna be a shit ton of spoilers so I’m gonna put this all under a cut. Feel free to reblog this though because I would like to hear everyone’s take on it. Keep it respectful, though. Please.
i see a lot of people compiling these long ass scathing posts about all the hundreds of reasons bleach’s ending was the worst thing ever and how kubo left so many things unresolved and how he burned all your crops and killed your pets or whatever
but. we all knew it was going to happen. BLEACH WAS LITERALLY CANCELLED. we all knew weeks ago bleach was cancelled. we were all saying how it’s a shame kubo won’t be given the chance to resolve everything. we knew that the ending was going to be rushed and a complete mess
so why the anger directed at kubo. HE didn’t choose to end his series so quickly. HE didn’t choose to leave so many things unresolved. he had to do that with the time constraints he was given.
the funny thing is… WE KNEW THIS WEEKS AGO. we’ve all been saying these exact things, but without blaming kubo. it’s turned from “kubo won’t have the chance to end this story how he wants to, he won’t be able to answer all these questions or give these characters proper resolution. poor kubo :(” to “FUCK KUBO, HE DIDN’T GIVE US ANSWERS TO EVERYTHING, HE RUSHED THE ENDING, IT’S A MESS WHAT A BETRAYAL” it’s so bizarre how the exact things we were feeling sad for kubo have now turned into anger directed at him
the only thing that’s changed in the time between people saying they feel sorry for kubo :(( and FUCK KUBO HE STOLE MY MONEY is that ships were made canon. yet these people are saying it’s not about ships oh noo it’s definitely not about ships they are justifiably angry and how is it that pointing out the flaws in a manga’s works means they’re only salty about ships… but you guys weren’t saying anything about the exact same situation a few days ago before we knew endgame ships. so it is about ships, don’t pretend otherwise. we can all see it
mondxs replied to your post:Reading the last chapter of bleach just fucking...
Welcome back to Bleach hell, pfft.
Thanks man. But bro so many emotions about bleach ending I need to write a long post about this.
Reading the last chapter of bleach just fucking amped up my desire to write on here.
When he had skimmed through the books he was preparing to buy at Flourish and Blotts, he had anticipated a whole new level of spells, but he had never expected the first lesson of Dementors to be so perplexingly boring. When it came to learning, he had always been more of the hands-on type. Sitting in a room full of ancient mahogany desks with a quill propped up beside his right hand, ready for notetaking, and a thick textbook opened up to the twenty-seventh page did nothing for him except make his head spin. The professor at the front of the room didn’t help as she paced back and forth in front of her desk, her voice echoing off the old walls in different angles each time she turned.
Ichigo finally reached for his quill, dipping it in the pitch blank ink for a moment before bringing it to the blank page before him, contemplating on finally writing something down about the shadowy figures about which he had spent the last two hours listening, but nothing came to him. It was mostly common sense as it was: Dementors would suck out your soul if they got too close; they were to be avoided. He sighed quietly, setting the quill back on its stand before leaning back in his chair, casting a glance to the books and effects of the girl sitting to the left of him. Ravenclaw House, it looked like, based on her sporting of blue and bronze colors. He hadn’t remembered seeing her before, but he had never been one for remembering faces or names or connecting those two elements together. She looked cross nonetheless, even for the first day of their sixth year, but he didn’t bother to make a mental note to keep to himself. He usually did in class anyway; plus, most of his friends were already in his own house, with the exception of several in Gryffindor.
His attention finally migrated back to the front of the room, just as he reached forward with one hand to close his leather notebook. He took a glance to the magical clock ticking quietly against the wall, realizing it would only be a matter of minutes before he would be released to his next class, Charms. Hopefully learning nonverbal spells would be better than sitting and listening to a lecture that sucked the life out of him just as much as the Dementors themselves would.
Cracks knuckles. Time to get to that starter and replies. Hit me up if you want to start a thread.
