hi i miss u jackee
i'm so curious who sent this hey...
If anyone’s trying to learn a language I’ve recently discovered this company called the Language Pod Company and it is so much better than Rosetta Stone and it’s completely free (unless you’d like one-one-one teacher-student help then it’s like $25 a month which tbh you shouldn’t really need because they make it really clear in the lessons). It’s super easy to navigate and it even gives you a history of the language. There are audio and video lessons. Real-life situations and different speakers. They even write the letters for you because I know sometime it’s hard to learn to write in a language that doesn’t use the same alphabet that you’re used to. You’re welcome.

“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” – Confucius
the curve of forgetting
the curve of forgetting describes how we retain or get of information we absorb.
day 1: you go into a lecture knowing 0% and come out knowing 100% of what you know (regardless of whether you know it extremely well or not)
day 2: you did not do any reviewing of your notes from day 1 therefore you have lost 50%-80%
and as the days progress we forget less and less
think about midterms! notice how around midterms when you’re trying to study for something (that you haven’t been reviewing for regularly) it feels like the material is VERY difficult and almost as if you’ve never learned it before
formula to reshape the curve
within 24 hours of your lecture spend 10 minutes reviewing the material
a week later: it will only take 5 minutes to REACTIVATE the same material
ultimately, you will reshape the curve
day 30: by this day your brain will only need 2-4 minutes to recall
information on the curve of forgetting was taken from the university of waterloo (x)
my formula to reshape the curve using the information above
before class: spend 10 minutes PREVIEWING the material.
after class: spend 10 minutes REVIEWING the material
do this regularly. this will be your preview/review system for each class.
a week later: try to review a week later. i know that school/life can get pretty hectic, but try to make sure you are reviewing regularly.
maybe record yourself saying some important details/concepts from your notes the night before and on your daily commute to school plug in those earphones and listen to it. i am an auditory learner and i find that listening to my notes before i go to bed and right when i wake up have truly helped me retain information. studies have shown that the best time to study is right before going to bed and right when you wake up.
a month later: after a month, review what you’ve learned so far in your class. trust me this will be a very very short review. everything will look very familiar to you and it won’t look as difficult as it used to.
basically your review schedule should be the following:
1 hour before learning the material
1 hour after learning the material (or within 24 hours of learning it b/c i know we’re all very busy people)
1 day later
1 week later
1 month later
remember everyone learns, studies, and retains information differently!! my personal belief is that your technique is what matters most. it is not about your innate ability/talent. find a technique that works for you.
more suggestions:
active learning > passive learning
when taking notes use the Cornell method. it forces you to ask questions and summarize what you’ve learned.
set frequent, short, review sessions
test yourself constantly! there are so many resources online.
people who are under stress have difficulty remembering things so CHILL OUT
don’t rush, take your time
repetition is key
practice MAKES PERFECT
group items together
fish, vitamin b12, and green tea can help w/ memory
don’t give up. like morrissey said “these things take time.”

Is ㄹ pronounced as L or R?
This is probably one of the most common questions that beginners ask when learning 한글. Just like every beginner learners, I went through this as well which is why I decided to study pronunciation rules too. I created this post to help clear up any confusion.
When ㄹ is located at the beginning of a word, it sounds more like an R.
Example: 라디오 (ra-di-o), 레슨 (re-seun), 로맨틱 (ro-man-tik)
When ㄹ is located between two vowels, it sounds like an R.
Example: 다리 (da-ri), 사랑 (sa-rang), 어렵다 (eo-ryeob-dda), 모르다 (mo-reu-da), 노력 (no-ryeok), 매력 (mae-ryeok)
When ㄹ is located at the end of a word, it’s pronounced more like an L.
Example: 딸 (ddal), 아들 (a-deul), 월 (weol), 달 (dal), 칼 (khal), 연필 (yeon-pil), 교실 (gyo-sil)
When ㄹ is followed by a consonant or followed by another ㄹ, it sounds like L.
Example: 딸기 (ddal-gi), 힘들다 (him-deul-da), 몰라 (mol-la), 살자 (sal-ja), 고릴라 (go-ril-la)
When ㄹ comes after any consonant except ㄴ, ㄹ is pronounced as N.
Example: 생리 (saeng-ni), 국립 (gung-nip), 능력 (neung-nyeok)
When ㄹ comes before or after an ㄴ, both ㄹ and ㄴ are pronounced as ㄹ.
Example: 한류 (hal-lyu), 신라 (sil-la), 신랑 (sil-lang), 달나라 (dal-la-ra)
Disclaimer: Hope this helps but remember not to rely too much on romanizations and listen to the sounds properly as well.
This is a post that I shared on Amino app and I decided to post it here as well.
Nature in Korean!
Do you know how to make sentences with the vocabulary in this lesson?
• 지금 - “now”
• ~이에요 - “It is”
지금 겨울이에요 - “It’s winter now.”
지금 봄이에요 - “It’s spring now.”
비가 와요 - “It’s raining.”
바람이 불러요 - “It’s windy” / “The wind is blowing”
무지개 봤어요 - “I saw a rainbow.”
날씨 좋죠? - “The weather is nice, isn’t it?”
Are you doing any better financially?

Hey, I’m Jasmine. I’m 17 and I currently just started college like a month ago and I am losing my shit. (I.E. things aren’t going too well). So I’m starting a studyblr to be more accountable and just to have a community of motivated people doing really awesome things.
I’m a freshman at New York University (NYU)
right now I think I want to double major in journalism and politics on the pre-law track
Classes, I’m taking this semester:
Writing 1
Class on the history of Egyptian Pharaohs
Political Theory 101
Data and Computer science class
I’m always looking into expanding my music library so if you have a playlist or something HMU. (for reference I listen to music like The 1975, LANY, Kali Uchis, Tyler, The Creator, Roy Blair, Brockhampton, Halsey, etc.)
I like to draw, and I’m currently trying to get better at digital art. So if you have any tips, tricks, anything at all send me a message

Hey! i am currently not studying anything but i wish i was. i had to drop out of school at 14 because of mental issues, i am almost 18 now and i will go back next year. i still don't know what i wish to do for living, so i don't really know what major i should choose or what i should be studying. i don't remember anything from school since i had such a large spam of time without studying. do you have any tips for me? as in what to study, what major i should go for. things like that. thank you<3
hi!!! since each country has different education systems ill just answer from what I know aka american college. If i understood correctly your asking about a college major. i think first thing, I’m glad you’re going back to school since that means you’re doing better mentally (or at least i hope u are!) Something I’d recommend is going to a community college your first two years, if you’re not entirely sure of what you’re going to do. It’s much cheaper and its not a bad choice. You’re basically getting the same education as a university but at a lower price and it works for your favor since the first two years you’re dealing with school requirements aka general education. Im a psych major but Im taking math and writing and classes that are nothing to do with my major it tiring but its a requirement! You go can undeclared and while taking these classes you’ll get a feel of what you like the most. I can’t tell you what to study since I am a bit biased!!!! I always tell people to take psych classes found out this semester someone completely hated lol (i still cant believe it) some things are just not meant for someone. Another good thing is too take in consideration your strengths and how it could be used in a future career. Do you work better in groups or individually. Are you someone who likes physically doing things (always on the run or traveling) or rather be in an office type job, do you like presenting or are you better at one on one convos!! do you like research!! just look up alot of careers and see if you like anything that’s kind of what I did :) i hope it goes well!!
My final review. Now that I’m done with summer classes I’m enjoying a nice vacation with my boyfriend 💗🌴
