Lyanna nodded, wanting to put all the horrible rumors about she and Rhaegar to rest. “I do. Your father was Rhaegar Targaryen, but the rumors spread by Robert Baratheon and the others weren’t true. Rhaegar loved your mother, and she loved him, very much.”
She looked down, biting her lower lip. “And…and your mother…she didn’t die. She stayed away, to protect you.”
This was all too much to take in. What if he was being naive? Trying to see the best in others always was his weakness. It was what got him killed in the first place. He wasn’t a cold or cruel leader. He wanted to believe he was of true born blood, but he still be a bastard unless his parents wed in secret.
“Where’s your proof.” There needed to be something...a hidden record of his birth.
