Just a quick very thinned black wash in the creases and they're ready to seal (once dry)
Now I just need things to fully dry so I can add black wash into the creases without any bleeding.
Realized I won't be able to remix the exact same color for Jake, so I hair dryered to quickly dry coats and got all the colors done. Just in case I needed to touch up. That just leaves Cake's inner ears and deciding if I want to leave Finn and Fiona's skin as raw wood or mix up the proper color.
Found time for the first coat of white.
Painting time 🎨 🖌️
Finished with the knife, now to seal and paint.
Cake is eager to have her face shaved down 😜
Spent way too much time shaving layers off Jake's face and I still think I should thin him out some more.
Jake almost ready to join the fun
A friend asked for some Adventure Time magnets, so let's get back into whittling mode. I thought 1/4" was too thin, so these guys are cut out of 1/2" bass wood. Hopefully I find magnets strong enough for their bulkiness.
I think needing new glasses might be influencing my struggles to regain enjoyment of whittling for more than 20 minutes at a time
What's up next?

Squirrel - 1.25" x 1.75" x 1.75" - acrylic on basswood
I used the BeaverCraft pattern, but didn't' follow along with the video:
Getting close
Okay, this chonky boy is coming along. I can get into the painting zone, so maybe I need to whittle a bunch of simple things and take time on the painting end.
A couple eyes and a muzzle sure makes a difference in making things look complete.
