Help Hadley Breathe! Southern California Siamese Rescue rescued Hadley from a high kill shelter in in December, 2017. She had been adopted and returned to the shelter for being sick with a URI (upper respiratory infection).
Once in foster care at SoCSR, Hadley seemed to recover from her URI, but then it came back. At one point foster mom had to syringe feed her because she was not eating. When cats and kittens can’t smell, they don’t want to eat.
Hadley’s breathing continued to be restricted and foster mom noticed her making ‘snorkeling’ sounds in her attempts to breathe. It was time for a vet visit. The vet suggested a CT image be done so we could actually see what was going on in her nasal passage. The CT was done in the beginning of January. Hadley was a trooper and breezed through the procedure. The CT showed an obstruction in what should be an open space past the end of her nasal passage. It was suggested that Hadley be given time to grow a little bit so it would be easier to do the procedure to remove the polyp.
Hadley has seen a specialist again and it appears that the polyp has grown since the CT image was done. Her breathing is getting more difficult for her, she mostly breathes with her mouth open, and she can’t shake the URI which is likely due to the polyp. Surgery has been scheduled for Monday, February 26. Without the surgery, her chances of survival are not good. At only five months old, Hadley deserves a chance to live a full life.
The surgery is a bit complicated. The surgeon will go in through the inside of the roof of her mouth. Hadley will be hospitalized for two to three days after the surgery so she can be monitored. Since there will be stitches in the roof of her mouth, she will need a temporary feeding tube.
Most of us take breathing for granted - it is something a healthy body does automatically, without thought. Please keep Hadley in your thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery so she too can breathe without effort.
We are hoping you will consider donating to help us with the cost of the surgery. The low end estimate we received is $3,548.67 and the high end $4,379.41.
No donation is too small! Donations are tax deductible.
Thank you.

My mom found a stray cat laying on her backyard, dying. According to the vet, he had been poisoned, on top of that, he was dehydrated, starving, infested with fleas and ticks, and had skin abrasions all over his body.
He had to be hospitalized, the vets took care of the parasytes & poisoning, and he has been on IV fluids as well. They also found that he has a very serious bladder blockage, probably due to stress and lack of a healthy diet. He had surgery yesterday to clear the obstruction, so far he has been able to urinate with a catheter in him, and at this point we need to wait for him to get better.
Up to this point (3 days after he was hospitalized) we owe the hospital about ~900 USD: ~70 USD per night he spends at the hospital and 700 USD from his surgery. We were able to make a 200 USD partial payment but we need help to pay for the rest of it, we don’t know how much longer he will need to stay at the hospital but if we don’t pay for the surgery he won’t have the special care he needs to recover from this.
We’ve been told by many people that since this cat wasn’t ours we shouldn’t have taken him to the hospital. He was dying. It doesn’t matter if he didn’t belong with us, he does now. He still deserves the opportunity to have a good life.
Thank you.

Idk why I’m tearing up at this
Oh god 😭
This is extremely dangerous and irresponsible. If you cannot give your dog the exercise and socialization it needs yourself, please do not own one.
Let me tell you about Balto. There was a lady in my town who owned a Siberian Husky named Balto that she would let him roam town and people either had to take him into their homes each night or call animal control.
Eventually all you’d have to say to them was “Balto’s loose again” and you wouldn’t even have to fill out anything. He was digging up gardens, shitting on people’s driveways, nearly run over 3 times (one of which caused a guy to swerve and hit a mailbox), he jumped someone’s fence and impregnated their Lab, he was forcefully removed from property by people who didn’t like dogs, had BB guns shot at him by kids, chased cats into trees and was eventually attacked by an aggressive dog. After a $500 vet bill, she let her dog back outside again! Her excuse was that she “couldn’t keep him in the yard”, which was just because he was a high energy breed and she worked 10 hrs a day, do she didn’t have the time to exercise him. So why pay $1100 for a high energy breed when you know you can’t handle one? Novelty. He was eventually picked up and sold online because he was a purebred, found him 8 hours away, after the person who bought him saw her post on facebook.
Some people may think they are doing the right thing by letting their pets roam freely, but we do not live in an idealistic society where everything is safe. There are wild animals that will find your pet an easy meal, there are people who will not slow down for an animal that runs into the road, and there are people who will hurt your pet if it comes near them, and they will breed, causing more unwanted pets to be brought into the world to be neglected because you didn’t want to give your dog exercise. Eventually Balto’s owner realized that she couldn’t handle his high energy needs anymore and dropped him off at the shelter, where he was adopted by a man who owned an acreage and had 6 other Siberian Huskies.
Send this to the first ten people on your dash, make sure someone gets a hug today ❤️❤️ *hugs you real tight*

This is Salem. I rescued him about 7 months ago and this is his progress so far. I did that. I saved him. You know how happy that makes me? I saved a life. I rescued him and gave him a good home. And he’s such a good cat too. That’s honestly, probably my greatest achievement in life.
Canada and Denmark have fought over the same island for decades. Denmark visited Hans Island in 1984 and left their flag, a bottle of schnapps, and a note that said ‘Welcome to the Danish island.’ Canada then visited with their own flag, a bottle of Canadian Club, and a ‘Welcome to Canada’ note. Because the island is within the territorial waters of both countries, they’ve been having a not-so-serious ‘whiskey war’ ever since. Source Source 2

if you see someone being interrupted in a conversation, acknowledge them, don’t let them be pushed to the side. if you see someone lagging behind, walk beside them. if someone is being ignored, take the step to include them. always remind people of their worth. it hurts when it feels like you’re being forgotten. that small gesture can mean a lot.
