The Sovereign's Ring is an 18+ dark fantasy game filled with drama and romance.
When the Empress dies without issue, you play as the youngest out of four possible successors to the throne.
Civil war is on the horizon. The other successors will stake their claim- but youāre the one whoās in possession of the Imperial Signet Ring, the sole symbol of the Sovereignās authority and a relic of great mystery.
Choose your loyalties. Build relationships- or donāt. Tear them apart. Sabotage your rivals and pave the path to the throne for yourself. The choice is yours to make.
There are no right or wrong choices- only consequences.

Alberich is your eldest brother, who raised you after the death of your parents. He's an astute and charming politician. You love each other dearly. Despite knowing him all your life, you can never tell where his true ambitions and intentions lie.
Sir Sieghardt Nibel Vagnyr | He/him | 25 | Male
Sieghardt is your second brother and Captain of the Nibelhiem Heath Knights. Unlike Alberich, Sieghardt is a like ghost, often occupying the shadows in your memory. Heās a quiet and stoic person, but is loyal to your brother Alberich above all else. There is a weight he carries with him that no one knows.Ā
Eirik Nibel Neaera | He/Him | 23 | Male
Eirik is your only cousin, the son of your Father's twin brother. He still holds your family responsible for the death of his father and will do anything to avenge him. He's arrogant and hot-headed, but he's also resourceful. Despite being a jerk, he inspires great loyalty in the people who follow him.
Sir Griffin (Finn) Brynhildr | He/him | 19 | Male
A young boy from your childhood. He was a good friend- maybe even your first love, but you two have drifted apart over the years. Now he's a Nibelhiem Heath Knight and heir to a Great House. His passion is second to none and charges into every situation with enthusiastic sincerity- sometimes to his own disadvantage.Ā He hates Sieghardt with every fibre of his being.
Lady Linnet Brynhildr | She/Her | 24 | Female
Linnet is Finn's older sister and childhood friend of your older brothers. She's a part of the renowned Shield Maidens and harbors a flame for Sieghardt, but due to her family's ambitions, nothing becomes of it. Above all else, she wishes to serve her country and fulfill her duties- but must it come at the cost of her own happiness?
A young Prince from the neighboring country of Brigid. Thea is one of seven children in line for the throne. She was a good friend and pen pal- maybe even your first love, but she stopped answering your letters one day. Her short stature and demure demeanor causes most people to underestimate her crafty nature.
Medea | She/Her | ??? | Female
The Wizard Rothbart's assistant. She's a woman of many questions and little answers. A flirtatious and beautiful woman, who is easy to like, but hard to trust. Thereās something about her sincerity that makes you uneasy. Her smiles never truly meet her eyes.
Helios | He/They | ??? | ???
Helios is a great sorcerer of unknown origins with great knowledge of the occult and the Wastes. Aside from that, no one knows who the fuck this person is.
FYI Iāve been notified bout the Bug thatās preventing players from progrssing after buying their horse and supplies at the general store.
Iāll take a look at it when I come back from shopping tomorrow, so until then letās all pretend Sieghardt is sleeping beauty and is refusing to wake up and advance the plot.

i was wondering if theres anywhere you posted all the character art together? specifically i was looking for references for the imperial family( (including dari) but i thought asking for all the important character portraits would be easier cause then itd just be in one place lol

Codex Entries: Empress Maeve Nibel Astrea, Prince Vayne Nibel Astrea, The Empire of Nibelheim, the Church of Eostre, the Kingdom of Brigid, The Fissure, The Wastes, The Soteria, Adamantine.
Armoury: Key Items have been added to the armoury. Inside will include items you've collected long the way, such as your festival trinket (if you had one) and your mother's pendant.
A few UI changes have been done so that mobile users have a better experience. I havenāt touched the colour themes yet, it still be my next project to tackle in the following update.

Thanks so much for the kinds words. :) I try to maintain a delicate balance for my own mental health because if I take to long to update, I get more stressed out. ;a; Which is why I only announce updates once I feel like I ended it at a good point story and coding wise. I know from experience that longer and bigger updates stress me out more because there's more to code and bug fix. That's where the burnout happens.
Hello hello, itās been a while since my last post. Some irl stuff has been keeping me very busy for the last two weeks, Iāve trying to keep my house from falling apart while my parents are on away. š (itās not working we have a moth investation atm)
But Iām happy to announce that the next patron update has been written and coded. Thereās a bit of play testing and tweaking to do, but for the most part itās done. Please expect an update sometime next week. The word count will be somewhere between 11-12k words. Itās def on the shorter side, but my schedule has been packed. š„²
Hopefully things die down soon on my end. I just want to work on the game šš«

There appears to be some kind of spammer called Dev Slime on itch.io going around putting some kind of link in dozens of comments sections.
My best guess is malware of some kind. Keep an eye out on your comments and report.

Yeah, they were doing this same thing under a different name a few days ago. I think that account was likely blocked to the heavens and/or reported. So this one is the new version. (The other account was also Slime [something]).
I've had to delete their posts four times from my various games already in the last week.
Not the same anon as previously but I'm guessing the throne (or something politically related) is their source of "happiness" I'm guessing it's a support thing. All that being said, while it's not what they want, does that greatly affect our relationship with them? Or is it something sort of like disappointment? Is it a scenario where we HAVE to choose a brother or could we choose neither?
(Sorry if this question is too much on spoiler grounds T-T)

I think it will come down to if you're MC is comfortable/okay with Sieghardt and/or Alberich want in the end and if Sieghardt and Alberich on the same page on what they want for the future for themselves and for your family. :)

Sorry that this might be a long rant and I might probably forget a bit of details from your game here but I just wanted to say that I stumbled upon your game when I was absentmindedly browsing through itch io, wanting to play some text adventure games and I have to say, I really love the story so far!
And, uh, so, I made my MC to have black hair and imagine then liking to have longer and loosely braided hair as his preferred hair tying style just right before the scene that happened between Eirik and my MC.
When the part where my MC gets a good look of his father's and uncle's appearance, then Eirik coming in to say about how it's hard to tell between the twin princes of which one is his father. I couldn't help but have this idea of my MC, as they grow up, looking more like his father appearance wise, (Especially when he transitioned to a guy) and it made me ponder of how both Alberich and Sieghardt would've felt seeing their youngest brother slowly looking like their dad.
I mean sure, they both got something from their father, but my MC, among the three of them, has taken most of their dad's appearances. (Just not the height tho)
Not sure how Maeve would feel about MC slowly to look like his dad but I think that she might be reminded of her brothers but mostly just, you know, love him cause he's her baby!!!
There's also the fact about the whole golden eyes meaning you belong to the imperial family. Which made me wonder of an alternative universe where, if it is even possible, that MC might've been born with Heterochromia instead. How would that change or will nothing change? I know the brothers and Maeve would still love him and probably the most of the ROs as well. But certain that Eirik or some other people would have something nasty to say about that.
But all in all, whether you want to answer this or not, all I wanted to say is that I love love love the story and can't wait for the next update!!!

The entire imperial family is so bad about talking about their dead parents. (Except for Eirik, that guy doesn't shut up about his dad). But an MC resembling Vayne and Ramont is haunting to them. And it def makes the Empress feel a little protective (in a different way, she's always protective) because she sees her two older brother, two that she genuinely loved, and it brings up some complicated feeling for her.
As for the eye colour, rare, but sometimes children don't inherit the imperial golden eyes. If the MC was born at a different time, they'd probably be disowned and kicked out š But since the Empress, Sieg and Al are not heartless and crazy, the MC would probably live out a similar life. A big difference is that they would absolutely have no chance of inheriting the throne and will be treated more like a bastard like Daria/Darius. The Church sees the gold eyes as a symbol of divine blessing and would have a LOT of issues of someone not fully blessed (even if it was only one eye) taking over.
