Who is that hero

Hello and welcome to my new page “Who is that hero” Where I scour the world of metahumans, looking for the ones that no one’s ever heard of. Naturally that’s not fully possible as some people have, but the past few years has been a big boom for the superheroes such as superman, batman, the avengers, Spiderman and so on. So I would like to put out information on lots of not so well known heroes. Because I love the underdogs. I will have one hero per week as well as lots of info and background and neat facts over each. The goal is to see how many people I can get to search the comic/movie industry and find a hero that they like that aren’t well known, get the word out that heroes are cool and there are more than batman, superman, thor, iron man, etc. So without further ceremony, Welcome to “WHO IS THAT HERO”

Extraño also suffers from HIV and AIDS. He received this disease after being bitten by a villein known as the Hemo-Goblin….but this did not dwindle his spirits as he continued to fight crime with his team mates and help them with their personal problems until in one Green Lantern comic the island base that they called home was swallowed up by a villein known as Entropy. Believed to be dead until recent events caused the New Guardian name to reappear.

He is known for his joyous attitude and carefree nature, he is usually the comic relief for the team, but after Receiving a crystal skull that greatly amplified his powers he received a more masculine look.

I chose to cover Extraño this week, because I feel he deserves some credit as being the first superhero to openly come out as gay in a comic, most people attribute this to the marvel hero Northstar, but Extraño came out as gay a few years before him, northstar was hinted to be gay for a while longer and finally came out later. Extraño’s escape act from the perverbial closet was overshadowed by northstar as northstar was a much more popular hero at the time. He prefers to refer to himself as Auntie and is found giving his teammates allot of parental advice.

This is Extraño, his name being the Spanish word for “strange” or “odd” he is a superhero from the series Millennium and showed up in issue #2 in January 1988. He was selected by the Guardians of the Universe from the series “The Green Lantern”, who are the seers over the use of the power rings, to take part in an experiment in human evolution. He was a minor magician from Peru in Trujillo City, South America. After the experiment, he found that his magical abilities were heightened by the evolution procedure and along with the other humans chosen for the procedure helped form the team the New Guardians.
