It truly doesn’t matter how pretty you are, how many designers you have in your closet, how much you spend on hair/nails/makeup etc. if you don’t have the personality and smarts to back it up. You can’t spend a six-hour dinner date just batting your eyelashes and making small talk, you have to be able to carry a real conversation and keep your client interested in more than just your body. All this level-up aesthetic bullshit is so annoying, if that’s what you’re into sure but don’t expect it to actually get you anywhere as a sex worker.

If only “first world” sex workers care about decriminalization, then why is it a global movement more strongly organized, say, in Calcutta, India (durbarblog.org famously has a massive membership base that makes SWOP in the US or Australia look like a knitting circle). African sex worker activism also supports decriminalization (please see Chi Adana Mgbako’s work http://law.fordham.edu/faculty/chimgbako.htm) as well as very organized groups everywhere in the globe (http://sciencespeaksblog.org/2015/08/07/with-amnesty-international-set-to-vote-on-sex-work-decriminalization-stance-african-asian-groups-unaids-voice-support/). Gabriella Leite is a very influential voice in Brazil and the documentary on her life’s work is worth a watch. (http://www.akissforgabriela.com/).

Sex workers around the globe are fighting for decriminalization because they oppose state sanctioned violence against their lives and families. To suggest that only American sex workers are fighting for decriminalization to the expense of the world is to willfully ignore the voices of women loudly speaking up on every corner of the planet. Cops are not the path to liberation.

We are our sisters’ keepers, not the police. Criminalized sex work won’t stop patriarchal violence any more than homicide laws have stopped murder. Marriage is an institution under which women are trafficked, raped, & battered but we haven’t criminalized these unions even though not every women gets to consent to her lawful marriage and/or may make her choice based on economic necessity. What we do is we create networks of people ready to assist women in bad situations *when they are ready to make that leap.*

Criminalizing any aspect of sex work ultimately serves to keep women in danger.

Moreover: I love watching someone’s bullshit statistic climb throughout their argument. 90%, 92%, 94%….what’s the source for this? 115 Blagork percent of sex workers had hummus sandwiches for lunch yesterday.

Additionally, issues of treatment on the job are not used to defend any other form of employment. Restaurant staff, retailers, janitorial services, childcare (babysitters, daycares) etc all have horrible customers, deal with work place abuse, and continue to work these jobs purely for money related reasons. But i dont see swerfs rushing to criminalize eating out, or hiring a cleaning lady.

Dworkin pisses me off so much. My clients aren’t gang rapists, they don’t hate women, they’re just lonely or busy and want their hour a week when they feel like someone loves them with no strings attached (except the money), or just want to have some casual sex that’s guaranteed to be fun for them. Radfems who want to put me and every other sex worker out of a job because of their own fucked up worldview can choke.

Full offense, but if you’re the type of girl to unironically say things like “Models and ballet dancers don’t need to be size inclusive because everything is not for every size and they should serve as inspiration for you to level up your physical appearance” just know that you are an absolutely trash human being who deserves no sympathy or kindness whenever you fall short of an ideal until you change your mindset. Idolizing people who either have certain genetics and naturally look a certain way or who have beat their bodies into unnatural submission through starvation, stress, drugs, surgery and depression is not the wave and you’re actually terrible for suggesting it.
