theres a sort of irony in Peters happiness after the spell.

Everything he used to love is now painful. Everything that used to bring him joy is now filled to the brim with grief. But that doesnt take away the joy.

And he finds new things to love. He finds new pieces of joy in this world that now excludes him, but theyre also filled with grief because its not what he expected out of his life. Everything that is joyful after the spell is unable to escape the sorrow that comes with taking place after the spell.

Peter can be happy after the spell, but theres a layer of grief over everything. Peter can be happy, so happy, but he catches glance of Ned's lego figure or MJ's coffee shop or May's favorite Thai restaurant and its like the ghost of who he used to be can never be fully buried and he's not sure if he even wants to try that hard.

Just got to the scene in my Raven Boys re-read where incorporeal Noah is writing “murdered” on his car over and over. Then Ronan silently walks over and writes “remembered.”

Not Gansey who loves Noah so much he made him a central pillar of his life.

Not Adam who deeply understands the fear of being forgotten.

Not Blue who has only known Noah for a hot second but is already completely devoted to him.

But Ronan. Who knows grief so thoroughly. Who pays attention and remembers. Who loves Noah but just doesn’t show it in typical ways. Who live never let the memory of his friend go.
