A mini PHM comic about Grace growing old. I wanted to explore two ideas: Rocky dealing with Graceâs dementia and Grace wanting to donate his body to science. I spend so much time on l figuring out the dialogue (some part still feel clunky to me) but I hope it express my thoughts on where I think Graceâs life would go :)

also headcanon that the little green spot Rocky touched when talking about Adrian is a "wedding ring", but on Erid they exchange small parts of their exoskeletons (?)
so Adrian has a little polished brown spot that came from Rocky, and Rocky has a little polished green spot that came from Adrian. like a little eridian marriage puzzle
Been thinking a lot about Simon and Rocky's dynamic lately so here's a fic concept I thought was funny.
(idk if I'll ever have the energy to flesh this out so here is blanket permission to use this as inspiration for stuff. NO AI THO and tag me!)
A lot of people say that Rocky would ship grace and Simon hard as a supportive friend but I say NO! That's not how that would happen!
If they pick this guy up from deep space, he'd probably be super jumpy and autopilot suplex grace at the first sign of danger.
Maybe Grace tries to do a quick examination once Simon is safely on the ship. Tries being the operative word. Simon feels hands around his wrist (checking his heartrate, itâs literally the first thing Grace did) and.Â
Look.
Simon isnât âjumpyâ. Simon is the Butcher. Convict. Simon survived Eden and C.O.I. and a blood ocean with an alien capable ofâthe point is. Heâs not jumpy. Heâs alert. And right now he is alert to the fact that theyâre now on the ground, with Grace below him. He could feel blunt fingernails clawing at his grip on the guyâsâŠshirt? Neck? Simonâs not really sure, because all he can hear is the thrumming of blood in his ears telling him to survive. He needs to survive.
He snaps out of it when he feels a toddler-sized boulder knock him on his ass. Of course Rocky heard the whole thing and is Not Happy Happy Happy.
So they don't start off on great terms. But Grace, being Grace, forgives him (âWhat else are we supposed to do, Rocky? The guy has clearly been through stuff, itâs not his fault! He's the only other human around for light-years. It's not like we can just jettison him! ... No Rocky, we really can't.") And Rocky's like, "Grace too soft, statement. Rocky will hold grudge for both of us." Rocky's a species that had an eidetic memory and a 700 year average life span. YOU BET YOUR ASS that guy can Stay Mad.
But then Simon starts to get to know grace and he doesn't know when, but he's started looking forward to seeing him. Grace makes him laugh, which is a miracle of itself. He's literally Simon's saving grace, can you blame him for looking up to the guy? And he's smart and kindâso kind Simon feels like he has to protect Grace from when Eridians get overly invasive/demanding.
And Rocky's not stupid. He's seen the romance movies in Grace's "guilty pleasures" folder. Eridian mating rituals aren't too dissimilar. And. Goddamn it. He wishes he didn't recognize the same signs in Grace. Every time he goes to visit him in the biodome, all he ever hears is "Simon Simon Simon." He'd assumed they would eventually move past this phase of their weird human romance practice, but nooooo. You'd think with their limited lifespans, these things would move faster. He can't take it anymore. Rocky has to do something. He can't keep hearing grace wax poor poetry about Simon. It's SIMON!Â
There's only one thing Rocky can do: he has to get his mortal enemy and his best friend to mate. For his own sanity. Nothing else. (Rocky definitely doesnât start to like the guy in the process, absolutely not. Rocky refuses.)
