Day 153 - My bike is back on the roads

Today started with a beautiful morning: with a warm sun on my shoulders, a soft wind in my hair and most important with a new, but familiar, bike shadow on the morning streets. Today was my first day with my bike for 2012. I waited so much for it because my bike means freedom, joy, health, fun, saved time and a beautiful way to connect with the surrounding environment.

I bike because I don't like paying foreign countries or soulless corporations for oil.  I like to bike because it keeps me healthy and my environmental footprint much lower than riding a bus or driving a car.  My quality of life is much better because I have more money to spend on other things besides car insurance, car repairs, gas, oil, maintenance, registration, parking, etc.....

For freedom

To feel the fresh air on my face, to stop and smell the flowers whenever I want, to stop and talk to people, to travel without gasoline.

I bike for social justice.

I bike for the environment.

I bike for my own personal economy.

I bike because it makes sense.

As a young dude who only lives ONE mile away from my work, how could I not bike to work?

Why Bike?: "When I'm in a car I feel like I'm in a cage; on a bike I feel free."

I bike because it makes me feel good. I'm outdoors, I'm exercising, I'm connecting to my surroundings. When I'm in a car I feel like I'm in a cage; on a bike I feel free. Biking is also inexpensive and, for many of my trips as fast or faster than a car or bus.
