I truly don’t think people realize how dingy and dark most movies and tv shows actually are so they can’t appreciate the work and skill it takes to make gifs look the way your brain “remembers” it looking.

Another before and after example:

This gif needed 6 different adjustment layers, not including the sharpening process, which is its own separate challenge. The blue window was also changed to green to keep the palette more consistent and to reduce the range of colors needed, because a wider range of colors generally results in worse gif quality since gifs only support a max of 256 (compared to the millions your monitor can display).

Just learned about artist residencies.

All the ones local to me either arent accepting applications right now (low funding or out of season) or aren't financially viable for me.

Same as all the art project grants.

There may not be as many starving artists but if the artist residency can't keep you housed and financially stable then is it really worth it?

Not to mention the amount of programs that are unavailable due to. Just not existing anymore. Versus the ones that do exist and aren't long term or the ones that are only for emergencies.

Or the ones that require you to be an established artist with x amount of hours. Or the ones that are available for new artists but aren't financially viable because of transportation and moving costs. Because they aren't. In my area.

I need a grant or residency so that i can do art full time. But in order. To do that. I need to be a full time artist first. (???)
