so i decided to make another info post about a killer from my country (Poland). I didn’t really see a lot of info posts here so idk if you guys like them but yeah.
Karol Kot- full name- Karol Szczepan Kot, he was also known under the name “Vampire from Kraków”.
•He was born on 18th of December 1946 in Kraków. Since he was a child he had quite interesting fascinations with knifes, guns and poison. He had a collection of various knifes in his home and he also read lots of medical books.
•When he was a kid and he spent his time with his parents in a village, he assisted in a slaughterhouse and there he drank blood for the first time.. then he started to kill small animals on his own, for example frogs and chickens.
•No one suspected anything because in his home they treated his hobbies as a part of a normal journey of growing up. When his younger sister got older, he started to hit her saying he has to keep her disciplined. He abused her cats and fought with his parents that they love his sister more.
•He worked out and on one of his practices he met a girl, later, I think, his girlfriend. Karol threatened her once that he will slit her throat and when she didn’t get scared cause everybody knew that she was with him at the moment, he said he will slit her wrists with a piece of glass and say she committed suicide because of love. The next day the girl took him to a psychiatrist, he got some pills but he never returned.
•He was vulgar and weird- he liked to scare girls and touch their private parts without consent.
•On September of 1964 Kot walked into a church and stabbed a woman while she was praying. She survived the attack. Later on he stabbed another woman- Franciszka Lewandowska. He spotted her while she was leaving the tram and he followed her home and stabbed her in the back of her neck while on the stairs to her apartment. She also survived. Six days later he stabbed another woman after he spotted her near a church. She died the next day.
•After 17 months the attacks started to happen again. On 13th February 1966 Karol stabbed an 11-year old boy- Leszek Całek, on April 14th he attacked a 8-year old girl named Małgosia. He stabbed her 8 times in the chest, back and stomach. She was quickly driven to the hospital where doctors saved her life.
•During his break between the killings Kot tried to poison lots of people using arsenic. Thankfully no one ever drank the sodas or beers he poisoned.
•Karol boasted about his attacks to a friend- Danuta, who informed authorities. He was arrested on June 1966, right after he wrote his final exams (matura). They allowed him to write the exams so that he would prove that he is sane so that he could not later plead insanity during a trial. A search of his house revealed that he had 16 knifes and an assortment of other weapons. He openly admitted to his crimes, surviving victims screamed at him in court calling him a beast. He talked about his love for blood and he smiled for photos.
•On 14th July 1967 Kot was sentenced to death as well as losing citizen rights. An appeal changed his sentence to life imprisonment, however a higher court decided to get back to the original sentence. He died by hanging on 16th May 1968.
•It’s said that during his autopsy it was revealed that he had a brain tumour.
It’s said that when the victims created a portrait of the killer the police ignored it. The survivors also said he had a jacket with a red shield on, which meant he was a high school student- it was also ignored. Those statements are not proven anywhere and it’s still a mystery if the police actually ignored everything!!
