ok but hear me out i need someone else to write this who has better historical knowledge than me and also i already have a bunch of ideas but:
polytrix fic where rumi and mira are in an arranged marriage or about to start one or something (set in like the edwardian era or something or the korean equivalent)
and rumi has like been presenting at court as a man since she was able to attend court (something something celine did it to protect her something something) only the household staff know the truth of her gender, (enter zoey and bobby) zoerumi are secretly in a relationship (secret even to celine and the other staff)
mira’s family have had mira betrothed to rumi since her “first bleed” or something because rumi’s the like most eligible bachelor
mira obvs hates this and rumi is a nervous wreck around it all and is sure mira hates her but mira doesn’t she just hates that her choice has been taken from her but can’t act out against her family so is kinda mean and closed off to rumi
fic starts on their wedding day and mira is dreading the evening where they need to consummate and stuff but rumi just comes in and says they can just sleep. rumi sleeps in a nearby chair still fully clothed. mira is like lmao ok weird maybe he’s fruity (bearing in mind rumi is presenting as a man)
the next morning before the staff wake up, to protect mira, rumi grabs a knife and slices her finger to put some blood on the sheets as “proof” of consummation and mira’s like wtf is going on who is this dude
enter zoey who is now mira’s handmaid after the other staff come in to change the sheets (celine is there too, clocks the blood and knows what rumi did, sends her a pleased smile for her quick thinking)
rumi and celine exit leaving mira and zoey
mira grills zoey about her new “husband” why is he so weird, why didn’t he bed her etc and zoeys like “rumi is different. i think she-he’ll surprise you” mira parks the slip up in the back of her mind
yadda yadda they continue, zoey and mira grow closer, they start a relationship which rumi doesn’t appear bothered by (maybe i dunno NUANCE IS NEEDED HERE)
mira’s suspicions grow, she catches zoey and rumi together, isn’t surprised because she’s been told her husband might take delight somewhere else and she suspects this is why rumi didn’t bed her or something
things happen, gossip, all that. mira either: catches rumi like getting changed and sees her semi naked OR confronts rumi about her (his to mira) odd behaviour
or could be rumi gets hurt whilst out hunting and after weeks of mira slowly developing feelings for her gentle husband demands to be the one to look after him, only allowing zoey into the room. this could be where the reveal is maybe??

truth is out, mira is like THANK FUCK FOR THAT and the story continues with polytrix coming together and working to protect rumi’s true identity
have mira’s family be the main antagonists or something
idk this is something that popped into my sleep deprived brain but i already have another fic in the works and i CANT SPLIT MY TIME
but maybe i might end up writing it if no one steps up to the plate or enough excitement is shown over it. or maybe i’ll get bored and write it regardless just for me
