Tumblr is doing some stupid AI shit so go to blog settings > Visibility > Prevent third-party sharing.
also use Nightshade and Glaze to protect your artwork and images!!!!
here's a link to Nightshade
here's a link to Glaze
best combination is usin Nightshade then Glaze on your images. Glaze creates a protective layer and Nightshade poisons the A.I. software.
It's the best defense we've got from all this (the bar is so fucking low)
Well this blows. With how reblogs work I would think that unless every single person who ever reblogged your art would also need to opt out.
Not that any of this actually stops data scraping.
Like what the fuck is the point anymore.
So a free tool called GLAZE has been developed that allows artists to cloak their artwork so it can't be mimicked by AI art tools.
AI art bros are big mad about it.
There's a KJ Charles group on Facebook started by Charles... the whole group would adore this picture.
Oh, thanks for letting me know! Alas I haven't used Facebook in forever and don't plan to TwT I don't give permission for my art to be re-posted but if you'd like to share a link in the group and Tumblr isn't working I also posted it on Instagram and Twitter!
hi! you've really gotten me interested in the champion of the scarlet wolf, and im def buying it, but im wondering if i have to read lord of the white hell books before reading tcotsw? because it seems to be a standalone, but if its the kind of standalone that spoils what happens in the previous, related series (lord of the white hell), id rather read lotwh first. thanks in advance if u can help!
Ahh I'm so glad, my primary goal is to get more people reading Ginn Hale and especially this particular novel heheh *w*)))
Champion of the Scarlet Wolf (CotSW) can definitely be read as a standalone. HOWEVER: CotSW is the middle book in a trilogy (split into duologies) and the third book really won't make sense or resonate without having first read Lord of the White Hell (LotWH). (Honestly though, I always want to recommend skipping LotWH TwT;; Ginn Hale is my favorite author, hands down, no contest. But LotWH is the one and only book of hers that I'm not a big fan of, especially the first part/book.)
So, yes read LotWH first. I would just recommend keeping in mind that even though they share an overarching story and world, each duology has a very different tone and focus and follows different characters. So if you love one you might not love the other.
Art versus Artist 2022
I don’t usually do these but this year was definitely a wild one.
I’m proud of a lot of the work I did over the year, but had to spend a lot of time and energy away from the things I really wanted to do and felt a lot of frustration.
This year has been especially tough as a digital artist. There’s such a huge value placed having art. People want art. To enjoy beautiful things is human. But many, many people don’t see the hard work and labor that goes into that creation. Art doesn’t just exist. It’s made by human hands, and real individual people who deserve respect and recognition.
There’s always a risk to sharing something you’ve made with others, of putting something you care about out into the world, but these past couple of years it feels like every couple of months a new exploitative and predatory technology or trend becomes all the rage. Frankly, it’s demoralizing. It’s really sucked out a lot of the joy of creating art at all. And I don’t see it stopping any time soon.
Rather than let it get me down too much, I’m choosing to see this an opportunity for change.
As the year turns over, I’m going to be taking the time to reflect. How do I navigate the hostility and risks of sharing in digital spaces? Am I creating from an obligation, or because I really want to? What brings me joy? What can I let go of?
I don’t have the answers yet, but I’m looking forward to getting them and pretty excited to see where following my creative joy takes me.
To everyone who’s enjoyed my art and supported myself and other artists, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and see you in 2023. -Justin ❤️
There’s a protest going on against AI art over on artstation, so I feel like now is the time for me to make a statement on this issue!
I wholeheartedly support the ongoing protest against AI art. Why? Because my artwork is included in the datasets used to train these image generators without my consent. I get zero compensation for the use of my art, even though these image generators cost money to use, and are a commercial product.
Musicians are not being treated the same way. Stability has a music generator that only uses royalty free music in their dataset. Their words: “Because diffusion models are prone to memorization and overfitting, releasing a model trained on copyrighted data could potentially result in legal issues.” Why is the work of visual artists being treated differently?
Many have compared image generators to human artists seeking out inspiration. Those two are not the same. My art is literally being fed into these generators through the datasets, and spat back out of a program that has no inherent sense of what is respectful to artists. As long as my art is literally integrated into the system used to create the images, it is commercial use of my art without my consent.
Until there is an ethically sourced database that compensates artists for the use of their images, I am against AI art. I also think platforms should do everything they can to prevent scraping of their content for these databases.
Artists, speak out against this predatory practice! Our art should not be exploited without our consent, and we deserve to be compensated when our art is exploited for commercial use.
This is an ai “artwork” hate blog now
like look you have this soulless thing that has anonymously and indiscriminately cannibalized years of hard-earned learning and discipline and struggle and creativity.
and you type in a little thing and it just. spits out some mashed up amalgam of other peoples inspiration, other peoples skills and dedication and livelihoods. and you sit there and smile and tag it “my art” like its not a horrible spit in the face of every artist who made that shitty little program possible. and now you think you have no NEED to pay an artist, you can just make it yourself. as if you’ve made anything??? fuck you and fuck ai “art”
Try not stealing from or exploiting artists for even just a day even just five minutes challenge I beg of y'all
For the ask game - 2, 3, 25!
2:
A slight preference for facing left but facing right is ok as well! Forward facing is only easy if I have access to a symmetry ruler otherwise making the eyes the same is scientifically possibly.
3:
I still have a lot of characters and idea kicking around from when I was in high school or even elementary school that I've modified over the years as my tastes evolved. 3 or 4 of my current projects are ones that originated in something I came up with when I was younger. (Though they have changed a lot of course.)
25:
Not a style comparison but I drew just a bird boy and a whole ton of people on instagram thought it was a character from some visual novel and I was very confused by all the comments lolol
For the weirdly specific asks: 4, 13, 20, 30
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
Cuphead (artist Chad Moldenhauer)! I think the game is objectively gorgeous but that style of art, the golden age 30s/40s american cartoons, creeps me out so much that I actively hate looking at it.
20:
Oh this is tricky! I wouldn't say everyone finds it hard but I like drawing backgrounds and architecture! It's a lot of work but I find it very relaxing to draw.
4, 30: Already answered so I'll skip these ones!
4?
4:
Boooonessss 💀
Skeletons are exactly the kind of finicky detail work that I run out of patience with very quickly even though I love love love skeletons and bones and including them as elements.
10, 12 and 30?
10:
I love clothing and fashion but I always hate having to cover up all that anatomy I worked hard on with clothing.
Generally I'd say I really like drawing fur! Like fur cloaks, fur lining. The puffier the better.
12: Easiest part of body to draw
Man honestly everything is hard. Ears? Probably ears.
My favorite parts are torsos, especially the upper part, but I wouldn't say that I find it easy.
30:
Answered this one in the previous ask :)
14, 29, 30 for the specific art questions!
14:
Oh definitely, lots of motifs! I love skulls and death and decay and monsters and spindly trees.
And of course intense homoeroticism ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
29:
This comes up a lot! I often feel that when I really enjoy something, I should draw fanart as a way to express that enjoyment but I'm pretty much always uninspired to actually draw anything haha
It's rarer that media that I love actually inspires me artistically as well.
30:
My recent Haku and Zabuza redraw. The old version is the one that is still getting passed around but I'm very proud of the updated version TwT

My piece for the Sparkle and Sea zine! I had so much fun working on this zine and seeing it come to life with so many incredible artists
Hi,
66 artists and I launch a crowdfunding project of a Queer Merfolk zine.
It's a charity artzine, all profits goes to 2 trans-nonbinary rights charities : Gate.ngo and T-acceptness.
We just passed the 30% and we really want to pass the 100% and gain as much money as possible for the charities.
If you could share this everywhere it would mean a lot to all of us. Plus the art is AMAZING, everyone is so talented, the art is inclusive and colorful and about Merfolks for fork sake !
MORE INFOS HERE
LOVE and TY !
I was lucky enough to get to participate in this zine and y'all it's STUNNING! Everyone's art is so gorgeous and it's a great charity! Please order a copy if you can!
