Everything Is Paused (closed to Natasha Romanoff)
âThat could also be because she had no desire to catch something from you, or because I am so good in bed she doesnât need anyone else to fulfill her needs.â Clint laughed and took a drink of his beer, not moving his eyes from Tonyâs face. Heâd had enough training in reading body language that even Stark couldnât hide things from him easily.
He was going to leave it up to Natasha to decide what they did or did not tell Tony and the rest of their new team. They were private people, it was a means of survival for them.
âI highly doubt that, Barton. Now Iâm in a mostly stable relationship with the wonderful Pepper, missed out on your chance with me, Romanoff.â He was sprawled out on the couch, not trying to look provocative, that was his typical stance, Clint had learned. Despite how much he made fun of the guy, he was suprisied to find he honestly liked Tony Stark.
âAre you a voyeur, Stark? Is that why you want to know?â That remark got a laugh out of Bruce, though not from Steve.
Stark was measuring them, Natasha realized, not just her and Clint but Bruce and Steve as well. It was always surprising to see how truly dedicated he was to the health and progress of the team. Officially, he was still only a consultant to SHIELD and the initiative. He was far too public, and far too used to being public. SHIELD was old school cloak and daggers. Someone like Stark could never fit comfortable in that niche SHIELD had carved out for itself.
Unofficially, Stark was something close to the team's leader. Natasha wasn't sure how she felt like that though she thought, when her back was to the wall and the world was bearing down on her, she'd look to Stark before Steve.
"No offense, Barton, but you're the last person I need see not fully clothed."
"What it matter, the state of my relationship with Clint," Natasha asked, rocking back in her chair. Her thighs brushed Clint's.
"If it affects the team--"
"It won't," Natasha counted. "Clint and I are both professionals."
"Tony--" Bruce, ever the pacifier, moved in to defuse the situation.
"So you admit there is a relationship?"
Natasha rolled her eyes.
