bylers have always been right
I'm sorry but we were right about will's feelings for mike since at least season 2. We were right about Will's powers too. Why wouldn't we be right about Mike's feelings towards Will ? Especially bc bylers always guessed things through elements taken directly from the series. We never shipped byler out of nowhere ! We shipped it bc we noticed signs. Why would our lecture be wrong about Mike when we were always right for will ? maybe I'm delulu but idk
I'm guessing that El will see Will's van confession in Season 5
I wrote recently that El is the most likely person to clock Byler.
I just realized another way Byler could come to light for El (and therefore also the audience).
El was able to see Billy's and Max's memories in the mind space. Will being in danger could be the occasion for El to dig through his memories. For example, she might see Byler through the flashback when they were kids that was shot for Season 5 Episode 4 ("Sorcerer").
But for me, the CLEAREST evidence that Mike should be with Will is how the show used the Cyrano Trope: Will confessed his own love for Mike by projecting onto El, and Mike confessed his love to this idea of El who was actually Will.
So isn't the clearest way to present Byler to the audience is by having El see Will's memory of the VAN CONFESSION herself?
She could connect the dots. She could see that Mike's "love confession" to her was prompted by things Will said...
... and she could realize that Mike's love was actually prompted by WILL'S feelings, not hers.
And wouldn't El see how hard it was for Will to make such a selfless sacrifice for them?
Wouldn't El "giving up" on Mike be seen as a graceful and beautiful act of love by El, not only for Mike but especially for Will?
From a writer's standpoint, isn't this one of the most straightforward and obvious ways to get El to see Byler and support it? And to get the audience to do the same?
The Sixth Sense revealed its plot twist through flashbacks, making the audience see what they saw before in a new light.
Since the possibility of Byler was supposedly shut down for the General Audience by these two scenes at the end of s4, isn't it likely that revealing the Byler twist includes revisiting and recontextualizing these two scenes?
-teambyler
Mike was supposedly avoiding Will to spend time with El but we later hear that he did, in fact, notice Will's behavior. But he also is actually avoiding El. We know his mind isn't on her, but he also avoids looking at her all day. He's avoiding eye contact all while we're being unreliably told his full attention is on her.
Something about guilt and not being able to look people in the eyes...

what kiss ??
What happens????
wondering
I've gathered a lot of elements that we know about byler next season (theories, sets, bts, possible leaks...) and atp I cannot find any counter-argument showing it's not endgame? that's why I don't understand why twitter users like ThwipT would say byler is not happening. especially bc apparently, the duffers keep hiding it secret, and also this user couldn't watch season 5??? so what are their sources? I am lost!!
This Millie interview….her reaction to Mlvn I’m crying
They’re so finished
So Finn's new st playlist (for s5) is really interesting.. Mike is gay, "it's a passing phase" "give it a hundred years, it won't go away' "I don't want to be the one whose coming out first" Mike wants Will to come out first and to confess first, the songs are really gay btw and "angst in my pants" is about being gay and.. frustrated
Will is what Mike needs, they need each other
Mike tried to lie to himself and pretend that he could love El but he can't (because he's gay and in love with Will)
Mike and El are gonna break up
Mike is down bad for Will
this is why Finn put this song in his Mike playlist (STurn), it's Mike's pov of Byler, Mike wants to feel needed and Will needs him, they love each other in the way they want to be loved
I really despise the Marvelification of Stranger Things, because all the interviews nowadays are constantly referencing how fast paced and epic and big the finale will be but the reason people fell in love with the show wasn't special effects or long episodes; it was the plot, it was the characters, it was the mystery. Stranger Things 1 may have been a story about a government conspiracy and a monster, but that's not why we stuck around. The show can throw amazing CGI, Russians, a battle within the American army and an apocalypse at the audience with the biggest budget known to man but if they forget to ground it and keep it central, it'll just get lost amongst a plethora of other "epic" blockbusters. We want Steven King, not Avengers.
I need to do a whole post ranting about this, because it is so hilarious how people will see the leaks of byler always filming together and teaming up and say "it's just them on bikes! Byler isn't real!" or the alleged casting call for young byler + Jonathan and say "omg you delusional losers! There aren't going to be any romantic scenes between 8 year olds!"
Because surely they understand story structure and realise that El and Mike ending on ambiguous terms in s4 + Finn and Noah constantly filming together + Millie and Finn not filming together past the first two episodes + El apparently having a storyline with Hopper and Lucas/Erica/Max (just as the s4 finale foreshadowed!!) does indeed mean something?
I constantly see them refuse to place this information in the greater scope of the narrative and character arcs for s5, instead just interpreting them in isolation. We aren't excited about the flashbacks because we want to see romance between children; we're excited because it demonstrates that their early relationship is important enough to warrant showing on screen, and that whatever that scene establishes will be important to their current-day selves. The bike pics aren't significant because they're hanging out; they're significant because they suggest that they truly are teaming up in s5 and that this pairing will be important to the overall narrative (as is always the case when couples team up in the show). These things imply that the writers do take this plot seriously.
Of course, this doesn't CONFIRM byler, but as I've said before, the only place they can really take mlvn in s5 is them being a team, proving they did work through their issues in s4. But that does not seem to be happening, and yes, that does mean something. People will say that Will needs to move on and learn to be himself. If that were the case, he would not be paired up with Mike. He would be with someone/a group which enables him to foster his identity outside of Mike. Funnily enough, that does seem to be happening....with El.
byler fans @ will: byler fans @ mike:
I just saw that the duffers don't rewatch their own show. they claimed they don't even remember the last time they watched season 2. okay, it does make sense now !
reasons vol. 2 makes me really believe the duffers are just bad at writing characters
mike wheeler. now they have mike be super caring about will in s1 & s2 only in s3 to have be suddenly be kind of a dick. this would have made a lot of sense if mike was meant to be written as queer. but obviously he wasn’t. he was just a dick for zero reason at all. also fuck them for making mike say that he doesn’t think his life really started till he meet el. that’s so fucking stupid.
will byers- here’s the thing with will, they seem to not know what to do with him if he’s not being affected by the upside down. they just seem to make him sad but he loves his friends so he’s gonna support them! they don’t know wtf he would be like if he’s not sad and suffering so they just make him sad and suffer.
eddie munson- eddie was great character this season. like he fit right into the groups dynamic and him steve robin and nancy were a super fun group. but the duffers refuse to touch the main cast even if it would make sense for those characters to die. how did him dying help? how was that in anyway a good way to end his story? what they killed hik just because they couldn’t think of a way to clear his name? honestly wouldn’t be surprised!
steve harrington- they jsut don’t know wtf to do with steve if he doesn’t have a love interest. i thought part of steve’s develop would be realizing that he don’t need romantic love in his life all the time. that he can still be loved by his friends but no. once again the you need a love interest to be happy trope!
them making lucas, the one black person in the party, join basketball even if he’s showed zero interest in it before
them having robin’s, the one explicitly queer character, love interest be a side character that we get to know basically nothing about
nancy staring at steve and having multiple scenes where it looks like they might kiss and have her cheat on jonathan even though s3 made it seem like nancy and steve didn’t have feelings for each other anymore
things that I loved in season 4
Eleven trying to find herself : It was really good to see her discover her past, discover what links her to the upside down. The huge screentime she had during the show developed her character so much and I think we really needed it. Tbh, I was surprised because I thought, at the end of season 2, that we knew everything we had to know about her and guess what ? absolutely not ! this season shows us that Eleven's character will always be enigmatic and I enjoy this. However, I'm not a fan of what they did to her relationship with Mike but you already know it.
Will being the sweetest boy of the show : like, he is the sweetest, the kindest. He always puts himself on a side to help his friends facing their struggles… it was heartbreaking to see him debasing his feelings towards Mike and pushing him to confess his love to El. just think about it : Will loves Mike since he's a child. try to imagine all the pain he must have felt when mike confessed to El in front of him. Will could have dissuaded Mike to do that in order to keep Mileven separate. But he did not. He encouraged his best friend to confess. I find it beautiful but at the same time, it makes me so upset. Moreover, he asked Eleven if she was okay when he sees her again, he listened to everything Mike was worried about and tried to reassured him, he also worried about Jonathan's mental health (it was obvious Will didn't like the fact that his brother smoke some weed yk). nevertheless, I hope Will will be more selfish during the last season because he deserves to be happy. I don't want him to sacrify his happiness once again.
Jonathan being the only one who really cares about Will. yes, it's sad, bc in season 1 Mike was claiming he was the only who cared about Will ; I guess the show decided to move on lol. I cried a lot when I watched the last episode, because Jonathan was here when Will needed him and it was so moving. I missed their relationship sm in this show. also, I thank Jonathan for being the only one who noticed that Will was in love with Mike. he was so real for this.
New characters being as interesting as some protagonists : I'm not even kidding. while Mike was absolutely boring this season, I appreciated Chrissy, Eddie, Jason (not bc I like him but bc his character is complex), Eddie's Uncle, Argyle, Enzo… Eddie had an amazing development btw. he also helped Dustin to evolve and I enjoyed watching it.
Lucas, Max and Hopper having a huge development is the best thing of the show : I mean it was really cool to see Hopper talking about his past. tbh, I didn't even think he went through so hard things like war, addictions… he really is a deep and sensitive man. I liked the fact he needs Joyce and Eleven to evolve and not the opposite. concerning Max, I loved how her traumas have been tackled in this season. it felt realistic (I wish we had the same for Will's traumas but… anyway lol I'm done of how the Duffers always forget about him). imo, Max is the protagonist of this season and I couldn't stop crying at the end when she repeated « I can't die, I'm not ready »… so heartbreaking ! Lucas was strong and he even found himself in this season which is a good thing because we barely see him in the previous parts of the show.
The way most of the characters are developed by evolving themselves : it's pretty hard to explain but in this season, even if the characters are split in different groups, I think that this time they evolve alone because the threat Vecna represents forces them to face their doubts and their insecurities.
The music : even if I criticize this show a lot, the music is always perfect and makes the atmosphere richier. It's modern but retro at the same time. I love the way music producers mix the synth and the strings in a lots of soundtracks. Well done ! Anyway, that's all for this post but I'll probably write a second part bc I have so much things to say lmaoo
so this is season 4, really ?
no because when your fans have better ideas than yours, then you have to realize your writing has many issues... like will getting vecna'd ? will explicitely confessing his love to mike ? will coming-out scene ? Idk there were so many things the duffers could have done to create a perfect season 4... If I was a melvin shipper I would not even be satisfied of their relationship at this point, because it makes no sense. imo the screentime of their relationship is so repetitive. I can't even understand why are jopper and lumax so good when the main ship of the show is literally incoherent. mike had so much potential, but now, I assume he's just the love interest of Eleven. seriously, his character is only developing through El's character. his doubts, his struggles, his fears are only focused on El and nothing/nobody else. also, Idk why the Duffers decided to build byler up this season, at least in a friendship way, because Mike doesn't even act like a best friend. for exemple, Will was sobbing so hard in the van ?? it was pretty obvious that he was crying a lot but Mike did nothing. he never asked Will if he was okay while Will pushed him to confess his love to Eleven. all of this was so toxic for Will bc his friendship with Mike is a one sided relationship. now season 4 is over, I guess I'll just read fanfics which probably better understand the assignment than the writers themselves.
🐻
GUYS I JUST REALISED SOMETHING
In episode 5, Dustin quotes Sherlock Holmes and says "The World is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance observes"
What if it was another hint for byler ? Because Mike is oblivious of Will's feelings, and he's maybe oblivious of his own feelings towards Will
Just saying...
