Fuckkk. they really bonded with the monsters, only to then get slaughtered. Undyne keeping a tiny orange bandana on the side of her desk or something that can't possibly go with any of her fighting gear that nobody has the courage to ask about. Mettaton being protective over one way-too-little apron and refusing to let staff throw it away or touch it, despite there being no clear reason why. Alphys treasuring a cat bookmark that's lightly torn and not telling anyone where or how she got it. Sans keeping around a tiny toy knife that he's too 'lazy' to use in battle and mysteriously doesn't use it for jokes. Toriel having a small cowboy hat and a skirt in some wardrobe somewhere in the ruins that nobody remembers her buying for baby Asriel.

And asgore burying cracked glasses, faded family recipes, worn down ballet shoes, tiny boxing gloves, ruby red bows, and a toy gun deep in the flowerbeds where nothing will ever feasibly disturb them.

You can't tell me this didn't fucking break all of them inside just a little.
